  1. Yankee players whose contracts are coming to and end this season are Jeter ($21 million), Rivera ($15 million), Pettitte ($12 million) and Mitre ($3 million). They will re-sign the obvious 3 out of 4 free agents, but comparable salaries at their ages?
  2. Sox gave up 2 prospects to Montreal for Pedro... Carl Pavano and Tony Armas Jr
  3. http://twitter.com/TBrownYahoo/status/6699446791 Juan Pierre traded to the White Sox
  4. By the end of 2011 season, the Sox will have 2 potential holes to fill in the outfield as both Drew and Cameron would enter free agency
  5. They are filling the 5 spot. And with Wake manning a spot, you need insurance. He's gone on the DL in August the past 3 seasons If such a trade goes down and they dont sign one of those guys, the 6 man would essentially be Boof Bonser
  6. Ken Rosenthal did add in his article about Lackey, that the Sox are working on extension talks with Beckett http://msn.foxsports.com/mlb/story/10523180/Source:-Lackey-has-BoSox-physical;-deal-close?
  7. Ill be content if they traded Clay, and filled the 5 hole with Wakefield and sign a high risk/high reward pitcher 1. Ellsbury cf/lf 2. Pedroia 2b 3. Victor Martinez c 4. Adrian Gonzalez 1b 5. Kevin Youkilis 3b 6. David Ortiz dh 7. Mike Cameron lf/cf 8. JD Drew rf 9. Marco Scutaro ss
  8. Jacko are you saying that replacing Lowell with Adrian Gonzalez is a downgrade.. lol youre such a tool Lowell this past season was one of the worst rated 3rd baseman when it came to defense. Youkilis would essentially be replacing him at 3rd, which is an upgrade. Gonzo taking over for Youk at 1st is a wash
  9. The Sox will be upgrading in a sense for catcher position. A full season of having V-Mart is nothing to sniff at. And Id say he is a middle of the order run producer, not just Youkilis. He's reached 100 RBIs a season in 2004, 2007, and 2009. 81 games of Fenway Park will be another bonus --------------- 137 for 573 (.239 avg) 33 Doubles, Triple, 12 HRs, 61 RBIs, 73 Runs, 42 Walks, 131 Ks, 6 for 10 SBs, 24 errors This is what Sox got from the shortstop position in 2009. While Im still not sure about Scutaro.. He is still an upgrade from what they had this past season
  10. Red Sox went all the way in 07 with Julian Tavarez as their 5th guy
  11. http://www.bostonherald.com/sports/baseball/red_sox/view/20091215mike_cameron_in_fold_jason_bay_likely_out/srvc=sports&position=also Yankees have reached out to Bay's representatives
  12. http://i36.tinypic.com/sb57p3.jpg
  13. I doubt they cut Wakefield after signing him to a 2 year extension. He goes to the bullpen if Buchholz stays Jon Lester Josh Beckett John Lackey Clay Buchholz Daisuke Matsuzaka
  14. Heading into the offseason, I was certain the Yankees were going to add either Lackey or Halladay to their rotation
  15. Boras wont find a better offer. Now Red Sox have taken themselves out of the equation
  16. Ah i see, they will again be one of the worst defending teams in baseball The bulk of their errors came from shortstop. April to August we had Lugo, Lowrie, Green and Woodward stinking up the joint. Gonzo held the position down but it was just 2 months. Scutaro cant build on what shortstops gave the Sox for the entire 09 season? I refuse to believe this team cant catch the ball in 2010
  17. Aside from Gonzalez... Scutaro isnt a better fielder than Lowrie, Green, Lugo and Woodward?? Cameron is a downgrade from Bay?? If they successfuly move Lowell (rated among worst 3rd baseman in 2009) and slot Adrian Beltre at 3rd or a big trade, they will be downgrading there as well?
  18. Id say at this point the Sox have the advantage of starting rotation, 6 starters are currently in the fold. Yankees really are just certain about 3 of the spots. The bullpen I would say Red Sox, but we'll see if Paps can bounce back from his heart attack saves. By far the Yankees have a better lineup. Maybe the Sox could tip the scales with a trade for a big bat
  19. Glad he wont be killing us 19 times a year haha I bet Vladdy goes to the division rival Rangers
  20. Ill be shocked if this team isnt one of the 5 best defensive teams in baseball Decent signing for Boston. Cameron is an upgrade of Bay when it comes to the glove, he could give 20/75 type of season. Hermida is an obvious upgrade over Baldelli who couldnt stay healthy to be the 4th OF Overall Im feeling much better about this upcoming season... If Miguel Cabrera or Adrian Gonzalez come next, itll be like im getting a good shot of morphine
  21. I loved his intensity when he was taken out during the Yankees playoff game. "This is mine!"
  22. http://msn.foxsports.com/mlb/story/10523180/Source:-Lackey-has-BoSox-physical;-deal-close? Ken Rosenthal going along with the report from Ed Price. If a signing is in place, it will be similar to AJ Burnett's 5 year/$82.5 million deal. He added that the Sox are also trying to lock up Beckett to an extension
  23. http://www.baseballprospectus.com/unfiltered/?p=1467 Red Sox offer $15.5 million to Aroldis Chapman
  24. If they are getting lackey, i agree with the other posters, it would make it easier on the Sox to trade Clay for Gonzalez or Cabrera
  25. Tex never took a physical for Boston
