  1. ... Theo has stated that it is best for Papelbon's arm to move him into the starting rotation. If there is more wear & tear on his arm throwing as a closer than a starter, I really cant argue with their decision
  2. Lou is expecting the Cubs to go hard after A-Rod. Such a trade could involve Carlos Zambrano or Aramis Ramirez if Cubs extend his contract before he opts out of his 07 year. http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=2628823
  3. Know this, there is a 5th starter slot open. The Sox will go through the list of available starting pitchers (whether it be free agent or thru trade) before they hand the job to Tavarez, Gabbard or Snyder who was inconsistent at best
  4. Given that the current starting rotation is Schilling, Beckett, Papelbon & Wakefield... that leaves one spot open to fill Tavarez did show a solid effort but Id much rather see Jason Schmidt take up that last spot
  5. Sweet I love these series that get played through all 7 games Game 5 Info: Date: Tuesday, October 17, 2006 First Pitch: 8:19 pm ET Venue: Busch Stadium, St. Louis, Missouri TV: FOX Starting Pitchers: http://newyork.mets.mlb.com/images/players/mugshot/ph_114849.jpg http://newyork.mets.mlb.com/images/players/mugshot/ph_213711.jpg #47 Tom Glavine 2-0, 0.00 ERA #36 Jeff Weaver 1-1, 1.69 ERA --
  6. Thats kind of cold, needless to say. Asking if they havent yet gotten over the death of someone
  7. We're talking about if he came back to be a bat off a bench, having a bench/role player position. We're not discussing him getting the starting position back That Brokeback Mountain can only be funny if that movie came out back in 2003, not 2 years after the phrase was started up
  8. http://www.boston.com/sports/baseball/articles/2006/10/15/with_whom_will_barry_bond/?page=4 Kevin Millar has been quoted as saying that he would like to return to Boston to be a bat off the bench and help revitalize the clubhouse chemistry he helped build. I wouldnt be opposed at all if that were to happen.
  9. I truely believe that the Sox are leaning towards Julio Lugo over Alex Gonzalez, myself Ive been a big fan of Gonzo's in his first season in Boston. The Sox do need a speedy leadoff guy, and they might go back to their ways of offense over defense. Heres the current Sox lineup for 07 1. Youkilis 1b 2. Pedroia 2b 3. Ortiz dh 4. Ramirez lf 5. Lowell 3b 6. Pena rf 7. Varitek c 8. Crisp cf 9. Gonzalez ss
  10. Damn so far my prediction of the Mets praying to God for the Pods to advance over the Cards is looking true. Cardinals look to keep the momentum going for game 4 Game 4 Info: Date: Sunday, October 15, 2006 First Pitch: 8:15 pm ET Venue: Busch Stadium, St. Louis, Missouri TV: FOX Starting Pitchers: http://stlouis.cardinals.mlb.com/images/players/mugshot/ph_424144.jpg http://stlouis.cardinals.mlb.com/images/players/mugshot/ph_435039.jpg #46 Oliver Perez 0-0, -- (3-13, 6.55 ERA) #23 Anthony Reyes 0-0, -- (5-8, 5.06 ERA) --
  11. I was thinking the exact same thing, all of the new coaches are turning out to be former teammates or coaches alongside Tito.
  12. rotoworld http://www.boston.com/sports/baseball/redsox/articles/2006/10/14/farrell_now_warming_up_for_red_sox/
  13. http://www.suntimes.com/sports/deluca/96509,CST-SPT-deluca14.article By the end of the week we should hear official announcements about: Lou Piniella as new Cubs manager Joe Girardi as new Nationals manager
  14. Game 3 Info: Date: Saturday, October 14, 2006 First Pitch:8:05 pm ET Venue: First Pitch TV: FOX Starting Pitchers: http://newyork.mets.mlb.com/images/players/mugshot/ph_123431.jpg http://newyork.mets.mlb.com/images/players/mugshot/ph_122987.jpg #29 Steve Trachsel 0-0, 5.40 ERA #37 Jeff Suppan 0-1, 6.23 ERA --
  15. Sorry to let you all know, but Kevin Jarvis has also elected free agency
  16. Game 4 Info: Date: Saturday, October 14, 2006 First Pitch: 4:35 pm ET Venue: Comerica Park TV: FOX Starting Pitchers: http://oakland.athletics.mlb.com/images/players/mugshot/ph_429717.jpg http://oakland.athletics.mlb.com/images/players/mugshot/ph_425827.jpg #24 Dan Haren 1-0, 3.00 ERA #38 Jeremy Bonderman 1-0, 2.16 ERA --
  17. As I said, they were sent down to Pawtucket. They will start the year off in Triple A. Just being kept around as insurance really.
  18. The Sox have re-signed relievers Bryan Corey & Mike Burns to 1 year deals and "sent" them down to Patwucket. Carlos Pena, Alejandro Machado and Ken Huckaby have elected free agency. http://wbz.com/pages/108212.php?contentType=4&contentId=223109
  19. Just thought Id start a thread where we can discuss deals going on other than the Red Sox & Yankees. This is right now the calm before the storm -- Greg Norton alongside Ty Wigginton was one of the unexpected surprises for Tampa Bay. He certainly did well vs Boston, highlight the walkoff HR vs Tavarez... which came after the Boston bullpen blew a 6-2 lead in 2 innings
  20. I knew Macha wouldve gotten his ass handed to him choosing to start the hurt Harden over Dan Haren in Game 3 who has been a rock for them this season
  21. 2007 Pods rotation would be sick: Barry Zito, Jake Peavy, Chris Young, Clay Hensley & ??
  22. Id say the Angels & Dodgers are right now the top suitor for Soriano (unless they trade for Manny) Sheffield has a $13 million option year. NY is very much unlikely to pick up his option, especially after his comments towards Torre.
