    Know this, there is a 5th starter slot open. The Sox will go through the list of available starting pitchers (whether it be free agent or thru trade) before they hand the job to Tavarez, Gabbard or Snyder who was inconsistent at best

    Given that the current starting rotation is Schilling, Beckett, Papelbon & Wakefield... that leaves one spot open to fill Tavarez did show a solid effort but Id much rather see Jason Schmidt take up that last spot

    We're talking about if he came back to be a bat off a bench, having a bench/role player position. We're not discussing him getting the starting position back That Brokeback Mountain can only be funny if that movie came out back in 2003, not 2 years after the phrase was started up

I wouldnt be opposed at all if that were to happen.

    I truely believe that the Sox are leaning towards Julio Lugo over Alex Gonzalez, myself Ive been a big fan of Gonzo's in his first season in Boston.     As I said, they were sent down to Pawtucket. They will start the year off in Triple A. Just being kept around as insurance really.

    Just thought Id start a thread where we can discuss deals going on other than the Red Sox & Yankees. This is right now the calm before the storm -- Greg Norton alongside Ty Wigginton was one of the unexpected surprises for Tampa Bay. He certainly did well vs Boston, highlight the walkoff HR vs Tavarez... which came after the Boston bullpen blew a 6-2 lead in 2 innings

    Id say the Angels & Dodgers are right now the top suitor for Soriano (unless they trade for Manny) Sheffield has a $13 million option year. NY is very much unlikely to pick up his option, especially after his comments towards Torre.
