  1. Yooouk, 6-1 now Keep the bats swinging boys, this is what I want to see. Now relief has to do its part and Beckett & the Sox notch their first win of the season
  2. Avaialble centerfielders (not including possible extensions) are Andruw Jones, Torii Hunter, Ichiro Suzuki, and Sox's top stud Ellsbury... this is a make or break year for Coco
  3. The clock is ticking already for Crisp to show well anything really
  4. Alright Captain, great AB to fight off 7 pitches until getting the Sac fly, 3 run ballgame again
  5. major league debut for this relief pitcher, may the Sox bats please give him a rude welcome to the bigs
  6. Kyle Snyder & Javier Lopez warming up...
  7. how was that last pitch not a strike? EDIT: Gotta give credit to Beckett still. He seems to be determined to stray from being a 1 pitch guy. We'll start to see the good stats when it warms up as he has an arsenal of: Blazing fastball, changeup 85-88 range, nasty curve
  8. Beckett has had to deal with a small strike zone today. I expect a longer outing for the home opener vs Seattle
  9. Like Remy said, now Beckett wants to keep throwing his curve. Since its a cold night, its hard for most pitchers to get a good grip for them
  10. Gil Meche Part 2 Odalis Perez-- 1st inning, 28 pitches Since 1st inning- 28 Pitches
  11. Great range by Drew EDIT: Beckett up to 58 pitches through 3 innings. If not for those 2 Lowell errors, he would be at 50. Here's hoping he at least goes 6
  12. phew, at first glance I thought Larue's hit to left field was a homerun
  13. I love when he starts to prove the doubts wrong little by little, he even got some praise from Jerry Remy. Whom hasnt had that much backing for Dusty Good inning by Beckett. 18 pitches, 1 hit, 1 Walk allowed. Considering its his 1st start and getting really cold for baseball, I'll take that easily
  14. Mr. Doubles makes it a 3-0 game!!
  15. Jonathan Papelbon on FSN New England Sports Tonight said as it stands right now: Donnelly & Pineiro will be his main set up men. Romero will be the left-handed specialist, and Snyder naturally is slated to be the long man. Once Timlin comes back, he'll return to his 8th inning duties. They will then decide who gets the bulk of 7th inning work
  16. Well today Ive really mellowed out from where I was yesterday. Part of that being I just found out Im going to be an uncle. Its a cool strange feeling. Fact of matter is guys is that there will be some games like yesterdays just as there will be games where everything is clicking. The rotation is a step above the 2006 version, the lineup has improved (lugo over agon, drew over nixon, manny for a full year?), and even the bullpen looks marginally better than what was trotted out last year. Cmon Rudy Seanez was brought in to do the 7th inning... Last year's team stumbled to 86 wins, this team if everything gels will get in the 90-95 range
  17. Notice the words I have put in bold. "When he joined the Yankees"... why is it so hard for some of you guys to understand? If Arod joins another team after the year is over, yes he'll get curtain calls aplenty. You really think if such a thing would happen, ie Arod jumping to Beantown (crazy I know), that he would be welcomed back as a hero?
  18. Something interesting of note for Pedroia is that we all know how he stumbled when he was first called up-- 4 for 41 (.091 avg). Since I believe the Sept 9 game vs KC that I was at, wher he had his first major league HR... he is 15 for 51 since then. Thats a .294 avg. If he can continue to cut down on that big swing of his, everything will fall into place BTW Luis Alicea in his first game as the 1st base coach didnt have a great debut. I know the blame goes on the baserunners, but shouldnt it had been obvious for him to holler at both Pedroia & Youkilis?
  19. Its still beyond me how both AGon and Lowell didnt get gold gloves
  20. Oh yea Gom your defense is leagues above Boston's... wait was that 3 errors from your infielders yesterday? Mods, if you dont mind, this needs to be moved to the "Fights & Crap" Section
  21. Some notes here Schilling is 40, not 41 Good to count out the competition early on, yea every single player on this team is gonna suck, huh? I just cant see how this team is just as bad as the one who played in the 2nd half of 2006 The series ends on Thursday not Friday. Thursday being the first lopsided as ever matchup of the year-- Matsuzaka vs Zack Greinke
