  1. Not being wrong. I just think it's ridiculous that you decide to look through past posts and say "what do ya think now?" when you didn't even say what you thought then. Funny you didn't dispute those things -- particularly the comment I made seven f***ing months ago -- when they were made. Hindsight's 20/20. People can say whatever they want about my predictions... TheKilo, for example, can say whatever he wants about whatever I thought because he, at least, had the balls to go out on a limb and disagree with me when I said it... but don't gloat now when you didn't have the balls to put yourself out there and disagree then. Honestly, at this point, NBA knowledge is the least of your problems. Try taking a high school level english class and get back to me.

Yeah, that's kind of what I figured. Plus, what attracts me to soccer is the fans... I like watching with full stadiums chanting all game, not watching teams play in 3/4 empty stadiums.

I think soccer's my new favorite sport. Sometimes I find it so boring, yet I get drawn into it and I can't change the channel. It's awesome. Soccer at it's highest level is a great sport to watch. I may have to give the MLS a chance when I move back to Colorado.
  4. Couldn't be happier for KG, Pierce, and Ray Allen. I get goosebumps any time I've seen KG with the trophy. As for Kobe, he wasn't great in this series but he also got no support. Walton disappeared, Vujacic was terrible, one game aside, Gasol was awful, one game aside, Odom was decent but not up to his usual level, Fisher wasn't great, Farmar was awful. Basically, the game plan seemed to be stop Kobe and make the other guys beat the Celtics and they couldn't do it. It's how they played him all season, make him a jump shooter. As far as what I've said over the course of the season, the opinion that the Celtics were going to be a poor defensive team was a popular one. Pierce has never been a great defender, Ray Allen has been among the worst in the League, though KG's been a top defender his entire career. But anybody who says they expected Kenrick Perkins, Powe, and some of these other guys to step up and play as big a role as they did before this season is kidding themselves. But defense is about effort and when you have a guy like KG to motivate you, who knows... And again, the Lakers were favored to win. They have the best player on the planet, came out of the deepest conference ever and had been playing a great deal better than Boston coming into the series... I think Celtics ties aside, most people on this forum would've picked them too. I've been wrong before, I'll be wrong again... but I'm not a dickhead when I state my opinion and I don't bring make an effort to remind everyone when they've been wrong... so was it really necessary for you to do that, RSR? Pure class, *******. I have nothing invested into the NBA and aside from an opinion, nothing invested in this series. All I wanted was seven games, didn't care who won. By the way, Posey and House were incredible pickups. And Doc Rivers outcoached Phil Jackson by a long shot... who'd have thunk it?
  5. That was unreal. My cable went out for a few clutch putts and I was livid -- I think it was 16, 17, and it started to flicker off and on a bit on 18. Tiger's just immune to pressure, you can tell it got to Mediate a few times. Both guys are so likable, too. As impressive of a performance by Woods as I've ever seen.
  6. Tiger Woods this week has been one of the ballsiest performances in sports I've ever seen. I know a lot of casual sports fans would be quick to point out that "it's golf" -- but at this level, what he's done, playing through the pain he must be feeling, whether he wins this tournament or not, has been absolutely amazing, in my book. By the way, I'm cheering for Tiger all the way but Rocco Mediate makes it damn near impossible to cheer against him -- he, in what little I've seen of him, seems like such a nice guy... great outlook on the tournament and everything. It's an 18 hole playoff, right? This is going to be amazing.
  7. He really does. It won't be so noticable with Bynum in the future but for the time being... jesus... What a game... way to dial up the defense. The Lakers defense was terrible throughout, in my opinion... even when they were playing "great", they gave up way too many open looks. They started to fall in the second half. By the way, what was that the Lakers called defense on the Ray Allen layup? Vujacic didn't really try to stay in front, but there was nobody near the rim to help him.
  8. Ever think you'd see a league so ill-equipped to defend itself against accusations like the one's that Donaghy's making? Just so happens that as he's making the accusations the referees are making up for some ridiculously lopsided officiating with... more ridiculously lopsided officiating.
  9. According to Garnett, he "gave everybody life. I could tell that everybody was rejuvenated." He came hopping down the aisle as the Rocky theme played. He didn't limp, he had a jump in his step. Him coming back into the game, in the words of the Celtics, rejuvenated them, it rejuvenated the crowd, and you're going to ask me what he had to gain?
  10. Good. I've learned to dislike the trainer, Dutrow.
  11. As if you haven't heard it everywhere already. "Faked" is a harsh word but he clearly played it out to be a lot worse than it was. He showed no ill-effects from an injury that required him to be wheel chaired off of the court.
  12. I thought the Celtics were done for when Pierce faked that injury.
  13. What a game that was last night. That ending was remarkable. What started as an awful series actually turned out to be pretty damn compelling for the last few games.
  14. The traveling non-calls usually come on the "two step" rule, if you pick up your pivot foot you'll normally get nailed for it.
  15. The foul was a terrible call... But Pierce did travel. Moved his right foot over, moved his left foot over, and then shot. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X5xQExrt0aA
  16. I completely agree with Yankshaters. Kobe wins and he's top 2 or 3... a fifth or sixth and he's, at least, Jordan's equal. and with how young this Lakers team is, six or seven isn't out of the question. Jordan was, I think 31 or 32 when he got #4... Kobe's 29. :dunno: I think in terms of talent, and what he can do on a basketball court, him and Jordan are equal -- what he needs are the rings. In fact, in regards to shooting, Kobe can do things and make shots that I'm not sure Jordan could. And he's getting that Jordan-esque killer instinct. He was just stone cold in that game against the Spurs... you look at his body language and his face and you wouldn't have known he was on the doorstep of the NBA Finals. I think people let their feelings about him influence how they feel on this particular subject but Kobe's a lot closer than people give him credit for, in my opinion. All the respect in the world for Lebron and company, but Kobe's head and shoulders above anybody else in the league.
  17. I'd really like to see the series go 7. Both teams are so good at home -- obviously the Celtics home success has been well noted on this forum -- and the Lakers haven't lost a playoff game at home yet and I believe it's been quite a while since they have dropped a home game. The Celtics were able to take two in Detroit and the Lakers went into Utah and played the best home team in basketball very close and took a win, and then take a very important game in San Antonio. It'll be a great series. The NBA really needs this and I've never been so anxious for a Finals series to begin. Hopefully this is the first of two or three meetings between the two. My prediction? Lakers win, Kobe gets #4 and the Jordan comparisons gain some serious traction. The man is just undefendable -- if Bruce Bowen and the Spurs couldn't do it, I'm not sure how the Celtics do, no disrespect to Pierce because he plays great defense. Hard to pick against the best player in the world (easily, too) when he's playing some of his best basketball. Wouldn't mind seeing Garnett get his, though. I'm really just hoping for a good series.
  18. We're going to have another coaching vacancy in the NBA. For the talent they have, the Pistons run one of the most unimaginative offenses I've seen. We're also going to have a Celtics/Lakers final. Good... this is what the NBA needs. Congrats, Celtics fans!
  19. I missed the end of the game as I went to the Chili's near me to drink and watch and they closed and I didn't want to hang around too long after they closed, so I followed on Sirius... did it look like a bad injury? If it was bad, I'd have to question not only whether or not he'll play, but how effective he'll be if he does. As for the Lakers/Spurs game... Lakers battled back to take the lead and Kobe is starting to take over.
  20. Can you play a worst 1st quarter than Pau Gasol just did? edit: Phil Jackson has balls. Down 17 or so and he keeps Kobe, Pau, Fisher, and Odom on the bench to rest and let's the reserves play their way out of it and it's worked so far.
