  1. Is that where Bard will begin next year?
  2. Schilling is a better pitcher than 8 weeks to get his 15th game. We all watched him this year. There were many games that with a typical sox team he gets a lead early and holds the other team down. He wasn't dominant but he was as good as most team's #1 pitcher I thought. 183 K vs 28 BB is pretty damn good; although the K total is down from Curt of old. I wasn't so sure last year, but after this season I know he's got one more good season in him.
  3. He's under contract for one more year (I think it was a 4th year option that kicked in with the WS??). He's spoken publically about next year's team and how he thinks they'll spend more in the offseason. He never gave any indication of leaving. Again, if he were leaving they wouldn't be skipping his last start of the season just for the hell of it. They would have a celebration and make a big deal out of it, I imagine.
  4. only 4-5 million for Clemens? I doubt it.
  5. Are you trying to say that Schilling doesn't know if he's coming back? Do you have a link to that? That means he's pitched the last game of his career. I don't believe it. He still looks good to me.
  6. f*** that. Keep Pap Jack, keep Castiglione. I don't care if Troupe needs to go somewhere. That's fine, he's kind of annoying som(WAYBACK!)etimes. I know that players have attributed their production to Papa Jack in the past and I'd be willing to bet that other teams would bite off their left foot to get in in their clubhouse. The guy saw over 3 straight 900+ run teams, didn't he? If not then I'm mistaken and I apologize.
  7. Nobody WANTS to trade Manny. The guy has asked over and over and over again. The Sox are not winning now, nor do they appear to have a lock on a title next year. These boards are for discussing possibilities; trading manny is a possibility.
  8. Tickets sound about right. I would then move immediately to Boston and enjoy my high-rollin' life.
  9. This isn't true. It all depends on who we put behind Ortiz in the order and I have yet to see anyone speculate that the lineup should take a drastic hit in the #4 spot. For the past few years we've talked about replacing Manny with many names. I admit, I don't think those names are as good as manny, but they're not bad names. Andruw Jones or Lance Berkman or A-Rod, those are all good players who won't kill Papi's production.
  10. The Astros trade Berkman for Wood, Hansen and Murphy? I'm not sure I'm buying that. Wood is a very good player but he's in the minors and hasn't proven he can hit MLB pitching yet. Hansen has been, if nothing else, disappointing, and Murphy is like a younger gabe kaplar. I hope I'm wrong about that last one.
  11. First off, in this lineup I'm thinking about having Papi bat 4th as protection for Jones. Papi would be the best hitter in this lineup, whereas Manny has (theoretically) been the best hitter in this one. Second, I proposed a lineup similar to this one earlier (except it had Manny still on it) and it was mentioned that Aramis Ramirez almost becomes overkill. I tend to agree, especially if Mike Lowell can come back AND we can make the personnel moves necessary to field a competitive team. I'm not that excited about Ervin Santana. He looks like he'll be really good, no doubt; but I'm just not that excited about him. He's certainly not unhittable, though obviously he's very good and would be a great addition for years to come. In any case, here's my proposal: Youk Pedroia Ortiz Manny Jones Pena Varitek Lowell Gonzo That's a solid lineup 1-8, with a tremendous fielder at the 9 spot. Also, its essentially the same defense we had this year, particularly on the left side of the infield where we could have 2 gold glove winners. Lowell's defense automatically improves the pitching and, honestly, I think youkilis could someday win a GG at 1B as well. He's been amazing over there.
  12. Can you remember the AB that he turned it around on, or at least the game? He has looked much more aggressive and assertive at the plate for the last week or two.
  13. That's actually a good point. For Oswalt then? I would ask for Oswalt and Lidge, perhaps throwing in Hansen or something like that.
  14. f***ing Man-Ram. We LOVE ya Manny. Don't leave us.
  15. I would be perfectly happy with Pedroia hitting 2nd from now until the end of his career. He just looks comfortable up there.
  16. I like to SEE young pitchers.
  17. Call the patent office, cause I'm sure nobody has thought of that before. I'm willing to bet that 10 years from now TVs and computers will be much more closely aligned. Hell, I like my computer a lot more than my TV right now. It can do way more stuff.
