  1. Definitely, we're already deep into the first week of May, time to blow some s*** up. Seriously, I've been trying to ignore you and let everyone else point out the tiresome negativity, but you are honestly just the worst. I just spent fifteen minutes going through your posts and I only found a handful that weren't complaints or didn't include the word "suck" in some way or another. The Sox losing isn't fun for any of us, but you manage to drain away the small amount of fun left to us in those games: Commiserating with each other over it in the GT. Your negative posts even manage to frustrate everyone in GTs of games the Sox have actually won. Enough already. Everyone complains when the Sox aren't doing well, but you've done the complaining of any ten other fans I've ever known. You don't have to react like the sky is falling with every swing and miss or defensive error. Chill out.
  2. Holy s*** Mookie is just unfair. This is gross.
  3. Just watched the video replay of Betts' HRs. Did anyone notice where that pitch was on the third one? Even Remy pointed out how ridiculous that was. It was almost an intentional ball and he still hit it out to the deepest part of Fenway.
  4. With the exception of Palmeiro winning the GG for 1B when he only played about five games there that season.
  5. It's probably elbow cancer. Or elbow AIDS. Or Elbowla.
  6. iortiz, we are all very disappointed in you. Were I able to upload video, I would upload a minute and a half of me just shaking my finger at you admonishingly.
  7. No, but the admiration and respect from the lesser mortals clustered about me is more than enough repayment for my services. JB, you'll find that out soon enough.
  8. Also I can now change usernames and passwords, so I'm definitely going to have some fun with that next April Fool's Day.
  9. That's okay, we don't particularly like you guys either. Though as I've mentioned, my hatred of Pats fans only extends to the drunk young guys and pink-hat brigades who know and care nothing about the Pats prior to 2002, not the crusty old New Englanders like you.
  10. He will join the ranks of active moderators, which previously consisted of...well, just me. In addition, my TS-related powers have been expanded to include the ability to decide whether to allow newly registered users to activate their accounts, which should put an end to the sporadic gross-out attacks we have been subjected to in the past. I hope, anyways. JB44 is a great guy, a good poster, and an awesome Red Sox fan. Please offer your congratulations to him on his very important and highly-paid position.
  11. Sox only the second team ever (1999 Expos) with 6 slams before May 1st. Pretty cool.
  12. Hard to have a much better debut than Kingham did today. Always had a soft spot for the Pirates (my grandfather and father's team), that was a hell of a game.
  13. The ellipsis density of this paragraph is in danger of collapsing into a singrammarity.
  14. Mary Louise-Parker?
  15. At the moment, I think the stakes are slightly lower than they were at those moments.
  16. Well April is almost over and the Sox only have a 3 game lead in the division and the best record in the majors. I think it might be time to hit the panic button. Pomeranz has only pitched two games coming off of the DL and neither one was very, very good so obviously we should dissect him for parts. Sale and Porcello are pitching very well, E-Rod has been steady and Price has his good days and bad days, and I see no alternative but to blow up the team. I don't mean trade everyone and bring up a bunch of minor leaguers, I mean literally blow it all up. A tactical nuclear warhead right under the pitching mound at Fenway. Wipe 'em all out, they all suck. Seriously though. This sucks, but the fact is there was no way the Sox were going to continue winning 8 or 9 games at a time while only losing one in between streaks indefinitely. There are going to be bad stretches, series will be lost, but they haven't been swept yet, and they've only lost two series, including this one. Everyone needs to stop acting like the sky is falling.
  17. Seriously, f*** Minnesota. Put up a fight, you wimps.
  18. Seriously you guys beat this dead horse into powder about 150 posts ago. I get that you disagree with other people about statistics and randomness and clutch and whatever else, but honestly like 50% of your posts lately are this same sarcastic stuff. Let it go already, or at least keep it in the threads specifically discussing those issues.
  19. I also agree with this. When you boil everything down, what you're left with is the team's record. The Sox's record thus far says that Cora is doing fine. Will that translate over the entire season? Only time will tell, but I think it will. He's got a great mix of aggressive strategy and critical thinking. Too many of our past managers have only had aggressive strategy without critical thinking (Too many to count), critical thinking without aggressive strategy (Farrell), or neither (Valentine).
  20. That's how almost all decisions work, though. I still think a lot of people, myself included, would have been saying it was a huge risk and we were lucky it paid off. Usually I agree with you on this kind of subject, but this time I have to go with the majority. Betts was up and he's been hitting something like .999999999 with the bases loaded. Sending Ricky Henderson would have made no sense in that situation, especially since they were playing an away game. Tie games going into the ninth are always bad news for the away team.
  21. I have no problem with Pats fans like you guys. The problem is that almost every single one I know personally and most of the ones I have met in passing are people my age, who only know the Brady-Belechik era. They either intentionally didn't start watching until then, or were too young to start watching until then. So it's mostly a mix of arrogant pricks with no respect for the fans of any other franchise and people who will give up on the Pats after the first poor season post-Brady. Unfortunately, there are a lot of Sox fans like this too. I give Yankees fans a hard time, obviously, and I do it a lot, but I also try not to be an unmitigated *******. Some of these dumb frat bro Pats fans don't understand that distinction. My only consolations are that one, they'll disappear in a few years if the next QB for the Pats isn't as good, and two, Pats fans like you guys hate them as much as I do.
  22. Giants fans have had little to celebrate recently, but I don't think they're jealous. I know many, many Giants fans and I'm pretty sure the only thing they think about the Patriots is the fact that they're undefeated against the Patriots in the Super Bowl. Despite how bad they've been the past few seasons, I'd be pretty happy with that.
  23. Nunez needs to break this game open
