  1. Great game, except I got distracted because someone hacked my phone and sent me a fake in-game update that Sandy Leon hit a home run. Lol can you imagine?
  2. Porcello is throwing a no-hitter tonight, I can feel it.
  3. 6-4 final for game 1. Not exactly a defensive game. That's like a 25-20 final in a World Series game or a 100-80 Super Bowl Victory. A win's a win, but geez, did the goalies show up for this one?
  4. I have to say I'm loving this. I'm not as rabid a hockey fan as I am a baseball fan, so I usually stop paying attention once my team (Detroit) is out of it. However, to see the Golden Knights win the Cup in their very first season as a franchise would be pretty cool, so I'm now actively rooting for them. I like good stories in my sports, and this would be a hell of a good one.
  5. So I think we should start taking bets on which sub-.500 team with no recognizable names will sign Hanley hoping he either produces a little better than the rest of their club, or at least puts a few extra asses in the seats. Marlins? The Orioles? White Sox? Cincinnati? The Padres, where Don Orsillo can once again get way too excited about a HR in the middle of a game with a 10 run differential?! I've got 20 bucks that says he goes back to Miami.
  6. EDIT: Upon further, further reflection, and upon noticing that there was a new thread started in the Sox forum specifically to continue this nonsense, ban made permanent.
  7. Okay I am the first to say the incessant pessimism/complaining is annoying, and I appreciate your attempts, however misguided, to protect my fragile ego from insults thrown at me by someone I banned from a website for being an annoying douchebag, but this whole thing was just way too much. Just to be sure and not have it be said I didn't bother, I checked and there is no IP match between Sox75 and any other user but a long-defunct member, and given the lack of any similarities I'm willing to chalk that up to a coincidence due to either proxy servers or even two random people using the same public wi-fi network. Anyways, CliffKlowers, on the flip side of this, I just reviewed all of your 88 posts and only a small handful are posts NOT attacking TalkSox members because you believe them to be old BDC forum members. You may be correct, but until they say or do something worth kicking them off for, they are welcome here as much as any other TS member. On the other hand, if you don't immediately stop harassing them about it, I will ban you because the last two pages of this GT are far, far worse than any of the whining in previous GTs. So I'm sorry if you feel I'm being ungrateful for your impassioned defense of me, but that's how it is. Leave the guys alone. If they are what you claim, they'll show it in due time, but for the moment all they've done is be mildly annoying, and if I banned people for being mildly annoying I'd have to just delete the entire internet.
  8. I was on the phone, I came back to the game and saw that Benintendi hit a triple. To left field. What the hell happened? I thought it was literally impossible to hit a triple to left field in Fenway park unless the left fielder was a guy with no arms.
  9. JD Martinez hits baseballs very well.
  10. You know I've been rereading threads from the beginning of this site up until a few years ago, and even the gamethreads for games 2 and 3 of the 2004 ALCS weren't as relentlessly, annoyingly negative as the gamethreads so far this season.
  11. That's why, as much as I enjoy your company on the site, you were not on the short list, hahaha
  12. Given the history of both the Red Sox and TalkSox, this seems much more likely.
  13. It feels like it's been a thousand years since the Sox won on the same day as a Yankees loss. Feels good. Let's do that again about 50 times this year, okay?
  14. I don't question your credibility with regards to the truthfulness of your story. I question your credibility as a man who wears another team's shirt because his wife makes him!
  15. It's tough for me to decide how I feel. I love him in the leadoff spot too, but I can't deny that he's had entirely too many at-bats with no one on base for someone who is hitting like he is. It's hard not to want to see him coming up for his first at-bat of the game with one or two guys on.
  16. Balls don't travel further in Denver because the air is dry, they travel further because the air is thinner. There is less of it, and therefore less air resistance.
  17. My physical appearance doesn't indicate it, but I am the most improbably handsome man on planet Earth. My education doesn't indicate it, but I am a world-renowned mycologist. The darkness in the sky doesn't indicate it, but it is daylight outside right now. All of these things make as much sense as what you said. The Sox's record is the only thing that says whether they are a .500 team or not, and they are further from being a .500 team that literally every other team in Major League baseball.
  18. Neither can I, but then, I was four. I can tell you the pitcher of the first game I remember, in 2002 (the game that my dad took me to that got me into baseball and the Red Sox). Pedro started for the Sox, Wells for the Yankees, and Shea Hillenbrand hit a HR off of Mariano Rivera.
  19. The 0% winning percentage probably should have tipped you off!
  20. Definitely. As we all know from the last century of baseball history, the team in first place halfway through May wins the division 100% of the time, especially if it's by 2 games or less. Might as well deal off Sale, JD, and Mookie for the best prospects we can get, fire Cora (anyone who can't win his first 50 games in a row as manager clearly wasn't ready for the responsibility), and stop watching the games for the rest of the season. The Yankees are never going to lose another game, ever, so there's no reason to hold out hope now, I mean, there's barely 4 and a half months left in the baseball season.
  21. We had serious hail here an hour ago. So weird seeing mothball-sized hailstones raining from the sky when it's warm out.
  22. Yeah and he didn't test positive for anything else.
  23. Apparently it is used to treat fluid buildup due to heart failure, liver scarring, or kidney disease. It "may" also be used to treat high blood pressure. This is all per Wikipedia. Apparently one side effect of overuse is gout, so that's hilarious. I'm not a doctor or even a medical expert, but from what I'm reading (admittedly from others who are also not experts), there are any number of medications that are better and more widely used to treat legitimate medical conditions that furosemide is used for, which brings up the question of why he was taking that one. On the other hand, his statement lacked the defensive accusations against those who accused him that so many others did, and his decision to not fight the suspension and admit that he knowingly took furosemide inclines me to give him the benefit of the doubt until I have more information.
  24. Well that was unexpected.
