  1. Some kid was probably praying for his grandma not to die and you just shortstopped him!
  2. Yeah the Sox will never come back from a deficit like this. I mean, when was the last time they did something that awesome in a game it looked like they were fated to lose? Oh wait, that's right, yesterday.
  3. Mabye because the 9 wins are an indication that he is solid and that tonight is an aberration rather than the norm? Maybe because the Sox don't slam their palms down on the "EJECT" button and purge all the atmosphere into the vacuum every time the smoke alarm goes off? Maybe because it's a bad idea? I'm just throwing out possibilities here.
  4. The funny thing is that we were talking a couple pages ago about that Texas game, which was also a double-digit game for both teams that was started by a Red Sox knuckleballer who gave up 10 runs. EDIT: I was wrong, I thought it was 10, it was only 8.
  5. Also Wright gave up 10ER and his ERA still isn't horrendous. It's not great either, but it's not ugly.
  6. I'd almost forgotten that Wright started this game. It's almost like having Wakefield back. Some pitchers are okay, some are good, and some are bad. Then there are knuckleballers, who are somehow all three at once. An equal chance of 8IP 0ER 2H 0BB and 4K or 2IP 9ER 13H 7BB 0K
  7. This is the best game of the season so far, bad pitching and all. Nice to see a comeback like this, feels like it's been a while.
  8. One of my favorite offensive Sox games of the past decade. I still remember exactly where I was when Youk hit his 3-run HR that ended up being the difference. I was pulling into the parking lot of ESPN where I worked as a security guard, and I almost went over the curb while screaming and pounding on the steering wheel. I had a bruise on the heel of my hand and the underside of my wrist for like four days.
  9. Velazquez just ruined a perfectly nice box score.
  10. Obviously as fans we don't know most of what really happens in the clubhouse or on the off hours, but I have to wonder if Sale ever mentions to the rest of the team how often this seems to happen. Like "What did I ever do to you guys?!"
  11. I honestly can't tell if you're being ironic or if you actually believe this. And I'm usually very good at making that distinction, even online. So well done, I guess?
  12. Boston sports fans being known the world over for their warm, inviting personalities and easy acceptance of new faces.
  13. How is it possible there is a second MLB player named Chasen? I've never met another human being named Chasen but there are two in the American League now?
  14. Nick Rumblelow is 100% not a Harry Potter character, right?
  15. When was the last time a game advertised as a pitcher's duel actually ended up being a pitcher's duel?
  16. I can understand and agree with most of your points except the one about JBJ. At this point he has been so bad any "hot streak" would have to be four months long to stabilize his numbers. He's just not hitting well. He's not even hitting poorly. He's just not hitting.
  17. Yeah I think "Shittier and Less Important" is printed on his business cards.
  18. I'm trying to pay attention to the game but right now there is a raccoon scaling a skyscraper in St. Paul, and you should all definitely follow this story. This is going to be my night now and I really hope he makes it.
  19. Definitely, the Sox could easily get Harper. Pomeranz, Bradley and Swihart plus maybe thirty or forty bucks, maybe throw in a few Bed Bath and Beyond coupons and we're golden. I don't know why someone in the FO hasn't already taken care of this.
  20. Betts is in a three-way tie for first in runs scored with Albies and Trout, who have played 65 and 66 games respectively. Mookie has played 48.
  21. You're crapping on Porcello for his bad postseason numbers while simultaneously suggesting a hypothetical trade for Clayton Kershaw? Have you seen Clayton Kershaw pitch in the postseason? It's like that scene in Space Jam when the aliens steal all of the talent from the NBA players.
  22. Blake Swihart is the Adam Sandler of the Red Sox. He had some good moments starting off, but he never really showed greatness, has hung around far too long based on the inexplicable belief of his supporters both inside and outside the industry, and every time I see him I want to punch him in the neck for what he's still doing to something I love.
  23. Ugh. There wasn’t someone from the crowd or a batboy or a hot dog vendor they could pinch hit for Swihart?
  24. Porcello is keeping them in it even on a day without his best stuff. That counts for a lot with me
  25. Jbj is comically bad at this point. What happened to this guy? There was a point a couple summers ago where he looked on pace for a 57 game hitting streak with 40 home runs
