    Yeah I forgot we had only played one game against Detroit so far. My mistake. However, my point stands, mainly, that the Sox are still fighting and can definitely secure a playoff spot.

    Yankees losing now too. If the scores hold up, that's a five-game gain on the Yankees in five days. Can't complain about that. Not that it will stop some from complaining anyway.

    Just banned someone who was actually TedsHead/2004ALCS racing to 50 posts so they could post graphic pictures again, as well as boxajoe in his new incarnation. Since you guys complain about literally anything you can think of, I thought you would enjoy the happy news that you were saved from both a flood of hideous images AND a flood of useless thread clutter. Rejoice.

    You people seriously need to chill. I'm getting sick of browsing gamethreads and reading comments about players in tones usually reserved for child molesters and Tyler Perry.

    This is why they should be pouring more funds into the creation of force fields. You could preserve the historical ambiance of Fenway and keep out the rain, all with a force field dome easily generated by even the smallest starship's navigational deflector. Not to mention how handy they could be for flood protection, wildfire fighting, protection against volcanic eruption, and even, if you drill deep enough to install portable units, earthquake prevention.

    I have been cleaning up his clutter. I hadn't banned him because he seemed harmless and, at least, appeared genuinely interested in baseball. He just needed to realize that not every thought warranted a new thread. However, I just went a minute ago to see if I could condense any more of his threads and found cause for banning in one of them that I missed the first time around. So, he will not trouble you anymore.

    I hear enough about ignorant, bizarre, and obnoxious things that celebrities do everyday through the "regular" news. The last thing I want is to have their drooling idiocy condensed into bite-size chunks directly from their own fingertips. I only read Twitter posts from these people when they are the subject of a larger news article about why Kim Kardashian is now being forced to apologize to gay people, the disabled, the Mexicans, or whatever, because of something she tweeted at 3 in the morning while drowning herself in vodka and stuffed full of dick.

    Based on their past performance, it was obvious that Lackey, Crawford, and Gonzalez would underperform. There was so much evidence that they would be bad signings, I don't know how the FO could have missed it! Seriously though, this is why I have been trying to stay optimistic about the season. Almost everyone who you could blame on-field for losses (Lester, Beckett, Crawford [for not being here until a week or so ago], Aceves, Gonzalez...) are guys that have proven themselves to be elite players in the past. It sucks that they all started underperforming at the same time and I agree that much of that probably has to do with ineffective management, but to propose getting rid of three-quarters of a roster when all of the names read like a who's who of Top-Tens for the last few years is ridiculous. The only two people I genuinely want to see gone on this team are Saltalamacchia and Valentine. (Other than the obvious ones, like Punto).

    Yeah, Gonzalez has been a bust. MVP candidate last season, but early-to-mid season struggles this year have doomed him for the rest of the contract. He's never going to be the same. They should never have signed him. Ortiz can play first.

    Remember a couple seasons ago when everyone was clamoring to trade Clay? I really hope Crawford turns things around, just like Clay has, so we can all laugh at the people who want to get rid of him after one bad season due to acclimation and now injury. Signs a long-term contract and the first year isn't great, and suddenly a decade of being a top-tier player in Tampa is erased. I hope in 2013-14 everyone realizes how ridiculous it was to be talking about trading away Crawford so early into things. Anyways, great to see Clay pitching like an ace. If Lester can get back on track the Sox may just make the playoffs yet.
