  1. I've been debating whether or not I could justify banning you based on the fact that you post nothing of substance. This ended the debate for me. Thank you for giving me back valuable time I could spend watching squirrels running around my yard or assembling 15000-piece jigsaw puzzles of the Japanese flag.
  2. Without a Paddle: The Bobby Valentine Story
  3. I don't know a lot about the farm system, but I would do that. I doubt Seattle would, though. I'd do it just so I didn't have to listen to people talk about Iglesias anymore. Everyone wants to bring him up because "His defense is so good, it doesn't matter that he can't hit worth a damn". The thing is, if he has an historic defensive season, the best anyone has ever had, but bats .200, the same people who clamored to replace Aviles or Ciriaco with him will spend every gamethread posting nothing but "f*** Iglesias" "oh, another strikeout, what a surprise", and so on. I have no problem with promoting guys from the minors, but not until they are hitting there like they really want to play here. If getting rid of Iglesias and pretty much any other minor leaguers gets the Sox Hernandez, I'd say do it.
  4. Twelve Little Guardians (And How We Couldn't Beat Them) Where the Mild Things are How to Lose Fans and Alienate People Tuesdays with Maury The Burned Bridges of Suffolk County Things Fall Apart - No renaming needed!
  5. The only disconnect I see is between Kelly Shoppach's eyeballs and his brain. If anything, the players and upper management are controlling everything and middle management (Valentine) are the ones being left out of everything.
  6. Valentine never did enough in baseball to have a 'legacy'. It's not like he's Torre or Stengel or LaRussa or hell, even Pinella. He's just Bobby Valentine, and he was never a big enough name, a strong enough personality to be the manager for a team like the Sox.
  7. I thought so too, but agon28 was actually him, not this guy. Still, the influx of new people with no understanding of how to post their thoughts is astounding.
  8. Unless one of the many trades that the team makes while getting rid of anyone brings in a comparable or better second baseman, it would make no sense to trade Pedroia. And since there are arguably no better second basemen and few comparable ones, Pedroia will stay where he is.
  9. So...no, then?
  10. 3 perfect games and a no-hitter against the Rays since 2009
  11. Yeah I figured, since several people mentioned it. YZ will see this in the morning and hopefully have it taken care of.
  12. Is anyone else getting them almost every time they change pages? I have to refresh every time I move about the site.
  13. Seriously, please check to see if there is an existing thread to which you can add your comments. Also, you posted this in the wrong forum. The Gamethread Forum is for Gamethreads.
  14. ...as for making bank, I assumed as much. You'd have to pay me a shitload of money to spend almost a decade in medical school just to spend my days wrist-deep in butt.
  15. This most certainly did not necessitate a new thread. Merging...now.
  16. "Star players" and "some players" are the key words there. That sounds to me like the "Star Players" are guys like Pedroia, Lester, Gonzalez, et cetera, and the "some players" are guys who probably won't even be with the team next season. As for Valentine being scapegoated, he hasn't made it easy on himself with the decisions he has made. For one, the article mentions leaving Lester in to give up 11 runs. Yeah, Lester shouldn't have given up 11 runs, but pitchers pitch badly sometimes. Even Francona would have taken him out around 7. Any manager would. Valentine has proven all season that he can't manage this team and it's obvious from all of these reports that MOST of the players think that too.
  17. Pedroia never bitched or complained at the end of last season. He followed fine from the minute he joined the big leagues right up until Valentine was hired, then he became obstinate. That tells me it is Valentine, not Pedroia.
  18. Say what you will about last season, but I watched all the games then and watched all of them now. It's not quantifiable, I know, but they didn't look nearly as disinterested in September 2011 as they do now. Then, they looked like they were getting pissed off more and more every time they made mistakes or lost. Now, they just look like "eh, whatever".
