  1. grow up Boston. You guys are so fixated on finding negativity surrounding the Yankees (and always have) that you wont give a guy credit for anything. Regardless of what you say, if he played for anybody else other than the Yankees (or even the Blue Jays for that matter) you would be congratulating him.
  2. he admitted it to the Grand Jury PRIOR to this year. He never admitted taking this year, so its ridiculous to say that he won this on steroids (as said by See Red.) If you can PROVE with FACTS (not opinions folks) that he has used throughout the coarse of this season I will be happy to jump on the "kill Giambi" bandwagon you guys are all riding so hard.
  3. Stephen A. Smith was on Michael Kay earlier (he might have mentioned this on his own show as well which aired 10-12 rather than 12-2 due to ESPN Radio carrying the playoffs) and mentioned how this whole thing could be a scam. First he mentioned how the Knicks are reluctant to release the news on whether or not Curry passed the Knicks' physical. Reason being, if they do, the Bulls (who really dont want to part with Curry) could come out and say that one of the players the Knicks sent over failed their physical, which would make the deal null and Curry would have to return to the Bulls. And because he had passed the Knicks physical, he would have to play. So the Knicks have set a 6pm deadline for the Bulls to determine whether or not all of the physicals were passed. BTW, rumor has it (so says Stephen A. Smith) that Curry DID pass his physical (he says he got that information confidentially from somebody familiar with the situation). If it is true that news of him passing his physical has leaked, dont be surprised if the Bulls null the deal. They would get Curry on a big contract, similar to what they offered him. Now this completely benefits the Bulls, because if he is healthy enough to play, it is worth it, and if (now this is coming from Stephen A., I know its going to sound cruel and insensitive, but its true) something tragic happens (he collapses on the court and is "no longer with us" or something of that nature) the Bulls DO NOT have to pay him (as is the case with any team and any player), though an insurance company likely will pay some money to the family or something. Now this could also prompt the Knicks to pass him on his physical (even if he fails) , because there would be pretty much no financial risk. (Again, I know this sounds horrible reading it, but Stephen A. pointed it out because it is a reality that a team could do this) Now on another note concerning the same deal, appearantly the Knicks and Bulls have an agreement that after the trade is complete, the Knicks would waive Antonio Davis, who they will also be recieving in the deal, so that the Bulls could pick him up again. This would make the Knicks pay the $13Million dollars owed to Davis this year (shows how much the Knicks are willing to do to pickup a good 7 foot bigman. They are willing to pay $13mil to a player who wont even be on their team). The reasoning for this would to get Davis around the salary cap for the Bulls because the Knicks would pick up his pay (which is stupid as we're in enough salary cap debt as it is). According to Stephen A., David Stern and NBA officials are watching this closely, as this is not something they like, somewhat of a "loophole" around a violation. (also, appearantly Davis DOES NOT want to play for the Knicks, and wants to stay in Chicago, otherwise I saw we keep him as he also gives us a good 4 or can give us bench depth). --------------- Ok just some interesting stuff I thought I would share. NOTE: If there are things I said that you feel are inaccurate (about the NBA procedures such as waivers, physicals, etc.) dont get on my case (as im sure most of you would, because a lot of you love to jump on me), ask Stephen A. as this is all coming directly from him. In fact if somebody in the New York area other than me heard this, please post a post confirming that this was all said by Stephen A.
  4. i thought all that 10-5 means is that you can veto ANY trade if you dont already have a no-trade clause in your contract.
  5. That was just a shipping mistake, I doubt he was wearing the cap because he intends on signing there. Berkman would play 1st, like he has this year moving Bagwell to a pinch hitter role. Or it could just be a 4-man outfield where you decide whose playing based on matchups and whatnot.
  6. how does he know if hes going to be unhappy before he signs? ----------------- I think a pretty fair deal for both sides could go something like this. Mets Get: Manny Ramirez Sox Get: Heilman or Seo Trachsel Cameron Milledge Seems like Damon wont be back and Cameron is as good as you can get to replace him. You can sign Konerko, pickup an outfielder to play left, and you guys would be in good shape.
  7. The way this series has turned out is absolutely shocking in my opinion. I didnt think the ChiSox would be able to compete, btu they are HOTT right now. I sure hope you guys take the next 3 because I sure as hell do not want to run into them.
  8. Just because Roger won doesnt mean it was right. Even I, a huge Clemens fab, could tell you that Randy deserved it more.
  9. Agreed i think Colon will win it, but I think Mo should win it. He has been consistant pretty much all year (with the exception of a few blown saves and losses, but even Cy Young didnt win all the time. Santana has a great second haf, Colon was very good most of the year, but I dont think he was as dominant in his role as Rivera, Garland and Buehrle got off to great starts, but both struggled at a point in the season. So like I said, my vote goes to Mo, but the winner will be Colon.
  10. I think the Sox (Red) take tonight. And I still think they take the Series.
  11. yea that was pretty stupid of him, his comment made no sense. But geeze you guys and this historical landmark thing
  12. Without a doubt the best pitcher in the second half, and a legite candidate, but I highly doubt he gets it, like I said before, he's been too overshadowed by Rog.
  13. Yea that should be an interesting situation. He rejected the offer by Beane, I would think he ends up in Pittsburgh, his home town. But Gammons strongly believes Jim Tracy goes to Pittsburgh. I've heard Art Howe's name mentioned with the Pirates job as well. I think it would be interesting if Howe was considered to go back to Oakland, but on Baseball Tonight they made a good point about how Beane would unlikely hire a big-name manager as he "wants to be the star" there. Should be a fun offseason with all the managerial changes.
  14. Yea makes sense
  15. hah, as nice as that sounded (at least up to the part about Clemens pitching in the 9th, tie game, Ortiz up) you know Phil Garner would have Lidge in there. I doubt Rog' retires after this year, there is no rush to get into the hall as his mother has passed on and the opprotunity to be in Spring Training with his son next year would be something that he probably wouldnt want to pass up. But who knows with Roger.
  16. Carlos Almanzar of the Texas Rangers (former Yankee) is the most recent victim of the MLB Steroid Abuse Policy. Im surprised this hasnt been posted yet as I first read about it yesterday. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Link Here NEW YORK -- Injured reliever Carlos Almanzar of the Texas Rangers was suspended for the first 10 days of next season for violating baseball's steroids policy. Carlos Almanzar Relief Pitcher Texas Rangers Profile 2005 SEASON STATISTICS GM W L BB K ERA 6 0 0 7 3 14.40 The announcement came Tuesday, shortly after the 2005 playoffs began. Almanzar is the 10th major-league player banned 10 days this year under the sport's new policy, and the second Texas pitcher. Right-hander Agustin Montero was suspended on April 20. Almanzar's agent, Jeff Borris, said: "Carlos has the right to appeal the test results. He is not contesting the findings and he's going to serve the 10-day suspension. He has no statement other than that." Borris is also the agent for Jorge Piedra, one of the 10 who tested positive under the current policy. "It's disappointing, it really is," Rangers owner Tom Hicks said. "Our players know the rules. They know they are going to be tested. If any of them get caught, shame on them. I am disappointed." Almanzar had ligament replacement surgery on his right elbow in May and missed the remainder of the season. He reported to Texas' spring training headquarters in Surprise, Ariz., in July to continue his rehabilitation. The right-hander allowed eight runs in five innings spanning six appearances this year following an extended stay on the bereavement list. Just before the season began, he found out his mother and brother had died in the Dominican Republic. The pitcher went home and didn't rejoin the Rangers until April 15. Almanzar went 7-3 with a 3.72 ERA in 2004. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  17. Yea I wasnt aware of the Fla/Det association with the exec (I dont know if it was the GM or another exec, but you could be right, it could be the GM) until Paige and Skip Bayless (I know I misspelled that, sorry Skip) were talking about it on Cold Pizza this morning.
  18. Sure would...Either Astros/Yankees ro Astros/Red Sox would be a dream Series for me. I dont know if you remember, but we had a similar discussion in another thread. God forbid the Yanks fall out in the ALDS I will be rooting for Boston all the way just to see that matchup.
  19. wow...when I read that I gagged. Im having trouble getting tickets to Fridays ALDS game for under $100.
  20. why would he do that? Would be an interesting move though if it was made.
  21. Which is something i've pointed out many times. Seems like you guys are obsessed with the Yankees. You chant Yankees Suck when you're not playing the Yankees and when you're on the road.
  22. Good Point if you put it that way.
  23. John cena reminds me of Marky Mark. Complete wannabe thug white boy who really cant rap. Im surprised all of those wrestling fans take to him so well. a lot of fans toss their stubs when they get in. And also at Yankee Stadium this year i've noticed that they dont rip the tickets, they just scan them, so if they dont take the time to rip the stubs I doubt they're going to take the time to mark a ticket. I dont know why its such a big deal, people are aware of the environment at a Yankee/Sox game and if it bothers them so much they can stay home. I still say it will be impossible to ban Yankees Suck/Boston Sucks chants.
