  1. I would take Shoppach and groom him for the future, but I wouldnt play him over Jorge. I hate when Yankee fabs pull thatm tgus guy is a franchise player, he is homegrown and has been an integral part of our success. How about some loyalty here Yankee fans.

  3. My choice would be Clemens. But im sure that you guys could have predicted that by my avatar and how I speak of him on this forum. Reason He Should Win It The reason being is that he has had great numbers, he was UNTOUCHABLE up until his mom died. And he's an idol of mine. I think all of the reasons I gave are seriously valid, except of coarse the last one. Reason He Won't Win It This is pretty much like what happened last year to Randy Johnson. Rog' beat him out because of wins despite the fact that Randy had a supurb season. But honestly, because of what happened last year I dont think he should get it. From a nuetral standpoint setting aside my love of Roger I can tell you right now that he shouldn't get it. I have no idea who gets it. I think both Carpenter and Willis deserbe it. I say Carpenter deserves it more because his team is in the playoffs while Dontrelle's is not. But Dontrelle has been the better pitcher. But if we give it to who the best pitcher has been then we might as well give it to Roger. So I think if I had a vote it would have to go to carpenter Side Note: In fairness to Andy Pettitte should be up on the poll over Oswalt. I dont have them in front of me, but if you look at the numbers he's right there with everybody and is argueably having his career year. I dont think he gets it because he's been overshadowed by Roger, but he is as deserving as the other candidates.
  4. Hes been your favorite play since a long time? He just came into the league May of 03, hasnt been that long has it? lol im just bustin your balls.
  5. I doubt that they would put DiNardo on the roster for this, but they may have. It would be pretty stupid to start Papelbon in game 5 because it eliminates him from bullpen use in games 3 and 4. He may be able to pitch an inning in game 3 then come back and start game 5, but I think it makes no sense being that he is pretty much the main setup guy with Bradford.
  6. JeterWifey, while your scenarios in your sig are very heartwarming, if Embree is EVER facing Ortiz in the Bottom of the 9th with the bases loaded then I would lead the way in the campaign to fire Torre. And we all know how much I love Torre and have defended him this entire year.
  7. I was very pleased with this game. Im not going to say that we're gonna sweep them, but we sure have the ability if we play like this. 1) Moose looked fantastic, I was kind of disappointed that he came out so soon, but it made sense with the lefty up. 2) Very pleased to see Leiter come through like that. Ive been pretty confident that when given the chance in a big spot, Leiter would be good. We still have to see more though. 3) I dont know what it is with Sturtze. Last year he was great in the 6th inning role. After Quantrill struggled a little bit in the 7th inning role this year and Sturtze got promoted he looked pretty good. But seems like he just declined as time went on. I have no confidence in this guy in the 7th inning role. I think we give that to Small from now on and use Sturtze in the 6th if needed. But I dont think id feel comfortable even with him there. Better luck for him next year. 4) Kay and Justice made a good point on the postgame about Cano and how "he giveth and he taketh away". He makes good plays in the field but still sometimes makes bad plays. I cant get on him too m uch about the play that he tried to backhand, because that looked pretty tough and I cant blame him for playing it from the side rather than taking a chance and losing a tooth or something with it coming up on him. It was a tough hop to judge. And on the double play he rushed his throw, which he didnt have to do. But all in all im happy with the defense he provides. And lets not forget how good he's been with the bat. 5) I was going to include this in number four but i think it deserves its own number. How about Cano coming through in the clutch. He gets moved up to 6th and comes through big. We could possibly have another top postseason performer for years to come in Robby. Maybe like another Jeter or Bernie. (Obviously too early to determine that, im just saying though) And did you guys notice how every time he drove the ball to the opposite field (icould obviously be wrong, there might have been an AB where didnt line it to the opposite field, but off the top of my head seems like every time up he hit it to left). Seems like no matter where you put the ball hes going to take it and do with it what needs to be done. If we can play ball like this the entire postseason then I think we'll be in good shape. We got timely hits, we got good pitching, the bullpen came through (obviously with the exception of Benji's homer off Sturtze), just an overall good game. Looking forward to tomorrows game. BTW, horrible job by Major League Baseball and ESPN scheduling this game for 10et. This seems to be an issue every year. I dont understand why ESPN cant show the Astros game at 1 (rather than 4), show the Sox game at 4 (rather than 7) and show the Yankee game at 7 or 8 (rather than 10). Its ridiculous.
  8. ok ill be back to post on this game later, im going to watch it now. I hate being on the computer whgen a game is on because the office doesnt have a TV in it. So im running back and forth between here and the room where the game is on. So now that ive taken care of a few things online that I needed to do im going to watch the game now...talk to you guys later. Go Yanks
  9. but you also shared a record with the Colorado Rockies from August 1st (30-28) Pretty sad homeboy
  10. what a hit for Robby. 3-0
  11. I want the White Sox to win because I think they would be easier to beat in a 7 game series, but I also wouldnt mind seeing a Yankee/Red Sox ALCS Round 3. But to be honest with you I dont care who we play in the ALVS right now because all im worried about is the Angels. They are one scary team.
  12. im surprised Leyland was hired so soon.
  13. I dont wanna talk about it lol ------------------ I found an interesting number yesterday that I wanted to post on here but was unable to get on talksox for some reason. We were talking about how bad/good the Sox were playing as of late (im pretty sure it was this thread) but dyk that The White Sox, since August 1st have the same record as the Colorado Rockies (30-28) argueably one of the 5 worst teams in the league.
  14. OK, ive been meaning to get on here to discuss this series further with you guys, but I was unable to get on talksox yesterday for some reason and I had things to do today so I didnt get a chance to get on after the game. My Assessment: The Strike Zone was HUGE, but consistent. Clement had very little control. If Pod doesnt get hit to lead off the game I think its a VERY different game. Jose Contreras seems to have finally turned things around against you guys. Their offense looked fantastic today, very timely hitting, runners were moving along, balls were flying, they did everything right. I thought Piazza was very good in thr booth today. Not spectacular like Leiter was in 2003, but pretty damn good. this is going to be a very interesting series.
  15. I was making a general statement...not all of them, you are correct. shut up, you're arguing that Giambi uses steroids, I wasnt making an arguement accusing Ortiz. What I was simply doing was saying that what you are using to accuse our players apply to your own players. Drop it your sounding really childish. And BTW, do you feel cool putting down slow kids "on the little bus"? You're a real big man. My 3 year old brother is autistic and I take that s*** personal. first you said that Sheff got bigger from his florida days, I proved you wrong with actual PICTURES, so now you're trying to sing a different song. What do you mean Sheff wasnt supposed to be this good, he was 2nd in the MVP voting last year, he had a great season the year before, the year before that, and so on. And no, im not throwing a "parade" over Ortiz' weight gain, you were throwing a parade over Sheffields weight gain (which didnt really happen, and you call me a dim wit) so I wanted tell you that you shouldnt throw stones if you live in a glass house, meaning that dont say that everybody who gains weight uses steroids, because Ortiz has gained weight as well and you guys would throw a fit if i accused Ortiz of using Steroids. Why cant you Sox fans just let it go, if he tests positive then I will be right here with you guys trashing Giambi, but as far as im concerned, and the United States Constitution is concerned, Jason Giambi is innocent until proven guilty.
  16. hey man dont hate on The Pads...theyre my sleeper pick
  17. OK thats good to hear, I dont want a disgruntled ex-Yankee over there But I'd imagine he would stay with the team through the playoffs like all of the players who were up in September but not put on the postseason roster.
  18. i wouldnt go that far, though it would be nice.
  19. Better than Chicago's? Yes I do. We have the most proven reliever in baseball history, Mariano Rivera, who could go 2 innings every game if needed. (remember, off-days are more frequent in the postseason) Also we have Tom Gordon, who could also go 2 innings if we really need it. Al Leiter can give us length. Jaret Wright Can give us a power arm in the 5th or 6th who can go a few innings (he would really be good if he could throw the ball in the strike zone). I would much rather have Mo and Gordon than Jenks and Hermanson. Though I would take El Duque over Wright or Leiter for long spots. Im not too thrilled about Leiter or Embree as our lefty/lefty guy, but i think if Leiter can get his control in order he could be pretty good in that role. (That means no more 4 pitch walks to Ortiz!!)
  20. I disagree about Chicago's pen. They have Bobby Jenks closing for them, not very reliable if you ask me. But who knows he could break out. Hermanson isnt that great either if you ask me. Though he has been good this year.
  21. did you not see the word almost in my post. I didnt say you guys blew a 15 game lead. And the media's not brainwashing anybody, its a fact you guys were pretty bad down the stretch. And nobody is denying that the Yankees had a terrible first half. their last playoff series win was the 1917 World Series if I remember correctly, right? I dont think they have won any since.
  22. and you also almost blew a 15 game lead.
  23. pretty good prediction on the Sox side considering that regardless who wins between Boston and Chicago, the Sox still win
