  1. just as I would rather see Sox vs 'Stros if the Yankees dont make it.
  2. oh wow i thought the Angels were a few games back, so i guess home field has yet to be determined.
  3. if it is indeed Yankees/Angels it would be the Yankees. But as you guys know im still pullin for the Sox to lose tomorrow and the Guardians to win so that they could force a 1 game playoff on monday, which i would hope for cleveland to win so we dont have to play the Angels. Either way though we have home field for any series not against the White Sox.
  4. i noticed the card said david arias, and when I saw that i remembered watching a game and a broadcaster (i think it might have been Kay) talking about how Ortiz used to be known as Arias and why he changed his name and everything....but i forget the whole story, perhaps someone could enlighten me?
  5. im not even trying to do that...i have no intention of starting a discussion accusing Ortiz. The only purpose for the whole Ortiz thing is that on the previous page JimBrown was saying that players who get big over time like Sheffield (who really hasnt gotten bigger as I showed in my pic), Bonds, and Sosa are on steroids, so i threw up the ortiz pic to show that he is bigger than he was, kind of trying to paint the pcture that if JimBrown's theory was correct than his own beloved Ortiz would have to be guilty too.....i am not trying to accuse Ortiz AT ALL.
  6. I was thinking the exact same thing after I read ORS' post
  7. yea that would have been a pretty BAD trade.
  8. I was thinking the same thing last year, the only thing that would have made blowing the pennant last year REMOTELY worth it would have been to see Pedro vs Clemens, game 7, Fenway Park. Although I have always rooted for the Cardinals (Ozzie Smith is my all-time favorite player outside of the Yankees) I was disappointed when they won game 7 last year.
  9. yea, and if i remember correctly, we missed a few good plays in the outfield while we were on the small screen in the bottom righthand corner.
  10. hmm, interesting, he always seemd (to me at least) to be popular among Sox fans, possibly could be someone who could move to first for 2 or 3 years when Tek is going to have to give up the everyday catcher's spot. Anyways should get a pretty nice return on Shoppach.
  11. also on another note concernign todays game (and forgive me if this was addressed in the 25 pages prior to my first post in this thread) but does anybody besides me think that Fox was HORRIBLE today? Just the entire game was very annoying, how they kept switching to the Guardians/White Sox and just all the technical errors (small black boxes showing up in the middle of the screen, sound glitches, etc..). If there wasnt a 3 or 4 second delay I would have turned on the radio and listened to Sterling and Waldman. But that damn delay is annoying too, hearing the play a few seconds before I see it (didnt stop me from turning it on in the 9th though to hear Sterlings famous "ballgame over, American League East over, Yankees win, thaaaaaaaaaaa Yankees Winnnnn"). It almost depresses me knowing that after the ALDS its going to be exclusively FOX.
  12. i also believe that pitchers shouldnt be eligible for MVP, its not like a position player can win Cy Young. But appearantly Clemens' numbers went above and beyond everyone else's in '86.
  13. yea it really couldnt have made a difference if he was called out. Your theory on why he wasnt called out was my original assumtion as well, it didnt look like he would have made the tag either way. And Matsui leaving the basepath looked to be because he didnt want to get hit in the face by the throw like what happened to posada last year.
  14. just out of curiosity, what is going to happen to Shoppach? Do the Sox plan on trading him? I was under the assumption they keep him around until Tek cant be an everyday catcher anymore.
  15. I wasnt accusing Ortiz of steroids...go back and read my post at the bottom of the previous page or scroll to the top of this page and read my post that was quoted by JimBrown32. I was simply stating that a player being bigger than he was early in his career doesnt mean he's on roids, which is what JimBrown was trying to say with Sheffield. Must you always try to pick a fight with me?
  16. i think the sox get it but i hope the Guardians get it so we dont have top play LA in the ALDS.
  17. I agree, Stanton looked VERY good today. It still looks weird seeing him in that uniform lol but what are ya gonna do. I wonder why he didnt get his old number 32 back, nobody has it I dont believe. that was a horrible call with the Matsui thing. the umps were not that good all game, on both sides.
  18. face it, A-Rod will never be given credit by SOME people on this board. Thats why I say lets just wait unti the votes are cast. But either way regardless of who wins, both players are deserving so I wont have a problem if Ortiz wins.
  19. Maybe, look i wasnt trying to turn this into a big thing..i did say A-Rod should have had it. But you cant deny that it was pretty fast on that turf-like infield. Errors happen, its part of the game.
  20. But Ortiz on the other hand... http://img101.imageshack.us/img101/6040/ortiztwins2ij.jpg
  21. To be honest with you, Sheffield doesnt look much bigger compared to his Florida days http://img7.imageshack.us/img7/1233/sheffmarlinsyankscompare7vy.jpg
  22. im not trying to start a war here, but if you want to talk about skinny...David Ortiz was skinny in Minnessota, before he went to Boston. Does that mean anything? (NOTE: I am in no way accusing Ortiz of using steroids, im just trying to prove a point thta growth doesnt mean anything) http://img101.imageshack.us/img101/6040/ortiztwins2ij.jpg
  23. i think some calls were questionable, but i cant complain about the umps as he was consistant. We lost this game because Wang didnt have great control, our defense wasnt good on that bad infield, Boomer and the pen shut us down, and we stranded too many runners...simple. Tomorrows another day.
  24. what the hell am I talking about? Damn you always come off pretty agressive. anyway, just look at the field, it looks pretty bad. I didnt mean that it was EXACTLY like astroturf, but thats a pretty fast infield, watch the play during the highlights and you'll notice how quick that ball got there No, someone just happens to agree with him after seeing the play. There is no denying that you guys have a pretty bad infield. Its not that big a deal so lets not escalate this thing...i see it coming already.
  25. please....you guys have a horrible infield surface, its like playing on Astroturf. Im not making excuses because he certainly should have had that, but it was EXTREMELY tough with how fast the ball was moving.
