  1. Thats a pretty versatile bench. And if you know me, you know that I LOVE versatile players. I would very much like to have a bench like that (minus maybe LeCroy, but replace him with someone else who can play the corners and catch, I think having a 3rd person who can emergency catch is pretty important, but most teams dont do it. That is why I like a B.J. Surhoff, Todd Zeile, Biggio, etc..)
  2. greaqt question. Thats why I think Graffanino fits perfect, could play next year while Pedroia develops some more, or if Dustin is ready in say May, Tony can just play the bench/platoon thing.
  3. I agree, though I have never been to St. Louis I believe STL is a better baseball town. Baseball is thie biggest thing there (as opposed to Boston, and even NY, where Hockey, Football, and Basketball are up there in popularity. Though I do think baseball is at the top of the list for both cities) and it just seems to be this magical baseball town. Fans are all pleasant (it seems, not like here in NY and Boston where we hate everybody), most of them are knowledgeable, not as many frontrunners filling the park (though there are still some). St. Louis just seems like a great place to go and I would have loved to be there earlier this season to see a game at Busch like I had planned (my medical state enabled me to go). um.....how about NO! We need pitching over in Queens way more than you guys do, Pedro has become a face of the franchise (yea, already), and Pedro is the one that was pushing big for Manny in July, how screwed up would it be if Pedro got his request granted in getting Manny on the Mets, but having him traded in return.
  4. didnt he test positive and get suspended for steroids this year or was that Rincon?
  5. I wouldnt say the series has been entertaining, I would say it has been pretty stressful. We should have won this thing by now. Lets hope its a repeat of game 1 indeed
  6. I agree that the Devil Rays TEAM might fit Girardi better, but it just looks as if he is very close to agreeing upon a contract with Loria. And I think he would do good there. Hes not a guy I want controlling a team of rookies, as he would be a rookie too. I understand wanting him "to grow with the team" but I just think he would do better with the talent in Miami. But who knows, its a tossup either way as to where he ends up.
  7. SFoC, this is devastating news. Im sure im not alone when I say this, but it is unfortunate, how a man as generous as yourself (giving away all those tickets back in Late-August/Early September) could be dealt such an unfortunate blow. You are in my prayers, and we all wish you the best. You have been a pleasure to talk baseball with here on this board, and you will be missed if you do in fact leave us. Good luck, and stay strong.
  8. Yea, and also up there with Game 7 of the 2003 ALCS ----------------------- I posted this last night, but appearantly it didnt post: This was truly a spectacular game. Backe was disappointing, the Astros looked down and out. They come back in the late innings working the Braves' bullpen, and especially working new closer Kyle Farnsworth. The bullpens were AMAZING after that going into the 18th. Every pitcher out there looked good. Some did put themselves in a jam, but they got themselves out of it as well. my guy, Roger was fantastic in a gutsy performance, but in the end it came down to a pitch to Astros rookie Chris Burke. What a moment that must have been for Burke considering how his year has gone. All these expectations started to be thrown upon him a few years ago, and despite a so/so spring he finds himself on the Major league roster due to injuries. All these expectations had him being the Second Baseman of the Astros for years to come. He struggles in the infield, and gets pushed out to the outfield to platoon. He didnt have the rookie season many Houstonians predicted, but I bet it was all worth it as he was rounding third base last night. Congrats Chris, Congrats 'Stros. Now lets beat the Cardinals!
  9. Because im a nice guy i'll give you a choice. Pedro or the Trohpy. http://img411.imageshack.us/img411/5901/pedrotrophy8dc.jpg
  10. Ive been here since May, we know the Yankees werent successful in May.
  11. hes serious...if this were the regular season then you would be right, but its not, Mo will be available for tonight's game, and he will volunteer for 2 innings of work (though Joe wont let him get 2, thats what we have Randy out there for tonight)
  12. a guy just walked by with a camera so I had him take a picture of me (then I ate him) ....here it is http://img440.imageshack.us/img440/4535/metrol9zr.jpg
  13. i admit, the user name probably isnt the best, but I like it, because im on a Sox site means I cant represent the Yankees in my sig?, avatar is of my favorite pitcher of all time...something wrong with that? Did you even notice that its him walking off the field after his final regular season start at Fenway when you guys all cheered him...its not like its a pic of him flipping you guys off or something.
  14. as a matter of fact im typing while sitting under a bridge right now.
  15. shut up....that had nothing to do with what I was talking about. Im not saying Nomar should play SS over Renteria because hes better, im saying it because he was there first, he was the franchise player for years, and he deserves it. Why do you f***in *******s always try to start s*** with me, go jerkoff to a picture of your World Series trophy.
  16. http://www.nydailynews.com/sports/baseball/story/353972p-301804c.html ...posted that because of the Zimmer note. It will be interestign to see ZIm next to Girardi. I wonder if Girrdi gets the marlins job, does Zim leave the Devil Rays for Miami? If Joe takes the Devil Rays job there is no doubt Zim is on the bench with him.

  18. going through newspaper websites and going to the sports section....i dont remember where I got these ones, I know one is from the Washington Post and I think the other is from the LA Times. Could be wrong though, I checked a lot of places.
  19. Here ya go....now do with it what you please. And just so you know, it was pretty rough actually having to look for this picture, but I figured that since I posted the "Varitek Fights Like a Bitch" and "ketchup" pics that it was only right... http://img183.imageshack.us/img183/9138/rodriguezerrorgame2alds3zw.jpg
  20. Girardi seems to be the talk of several manager-less franchises. Specifically the Florida teams. There was a good article in yesterdays daily news by Bill Madden (i think)..if i find a link i will post. With how things have gone so far with Loria, i would be surprised if he doesnt end up managing in Florida.
  21. http://img99.imageshack.us/img99/8898/rodriguezerrorgame2alds0jt.jpg This is from Game 2 vs the Angels. Isnt of him actually making the error, but watching it go by right after...and he is sort of facing the camera. Im still looking though
  22. I think if you guys were to get Sori that you should bat him leadoff (only if Damon leaves of coarse). He thrived there with us and Ive never seen a leadoff hitter (except maybe Henderson) who can put the momentum in his teams favor so quickly. Remember 2002 when he just went on a tear of leadoff homers.
  23. I dont care how much they want starting pitching, NO WAY they trade Huff for Abe f***ing Alvarez. YS's proposal was more realistic, but that might not even be enough. I dont see why you guys cant get him for Arroyo, Abe, and maybe a Single A prospect. thats exactly what i've been saying to a friend of mine. The Rays have such a surplux of good young talent that they need to get rid of some. They way it looks now they will either have to trade Gathright or move Delmon to first (seeing as how it looks like Johnny Gomes has the DH spot loked up for a while). So moving Huff for some pitching makes plenty of sense. I still think the Rays, Sox, and Mets should try to work a 3-way, that way the Rays could profit even more with Yusmeiro Petit.
  24. Im not saying I think he will get traded, what im saying is that if the Sox go out and get Nomar that they should guve Nomar SS over Renteria.
  25. Its going to be a good one, I dont know if the short rest factor will help or hurt Hudson, who on normal rest is a given over Backe. But Backe is no slouch, he can throw a baseball. Another exciting game in the world of Astros/Braves
