United? It says right in the article some players didn't even show up. That's not being united. And Pedroia is a prima-donna. And you never heard anything of substance that said the players didn't want to play for Francona? He himself said he couldn't get through to players and he lost control of them... Poeple don't act like that when they work for someone they respect. They quit on him. That's basically the same as running him out of town. -

Unbelievable. They run Francona out of town and now trying to do the same with Valentine. The FO needs to put their foot down and tell these prima-donna punks to shut their damn mouths and play. This has gotten pathetic. Between Gonzalez' whining about playing too many night games and travelling and double headers last year and this, I am losing a lot of respect for him. What a pussy. -

That's a construction job... You'd be doing construction, not being trusted with protecting your fellow citizens and representing your community. That's when firing someone for something they might commit would be fine with me. As a police officer he should be showing some professionalism, even off duty.

This doesn't really have to do with CC's feelings being hurt and a cop being punished for it. What it has to do with is the fact that this man represents his city/town and is hired to protect and serve it, and if he is going to be making racial slurs at someone at a baseball game then what the hell can he do while working? Very easily he could be out there racially profiling people who are completely innocent or even worse could someday commit an act of police brutality against someone. His profession is to serve the people of his community regardless of their ethnicity and he was stupid enough to make a comment that shows that very likely he may not be able to do that. If fired he gets what he deserves.

From urban dictionary: This was added in 2007... I never heard that term used before. Didn't even know it existed. Whatever though, I'm glad this cop got fired. Obviously he is a pussy, and if he's going to use a term like this at a baseball game I couldn't imagine what he'd be capable of doing while on duty and on a power trip or something...
