If you honestly think Tebow's hate stems from his religion you are delusional. Absolutely delusional. It's all from his over-exposure. It wasn't until he went on that good run and became a starter did the media blow him up and people got sick of him.
I have talked to a lot of people about him when he was a big deal and never did I hear his religion mentioned. My group of sports loving friends, most of whom are not religious at all, would talk about how f***ing annoying he is, not about his religion. Even the religious people I know found him to be an irritating prick. All of the hatred came from him being mediocre and forced down people's throat 24/7 combined with his cutesy, cheesy press conferences.
If Tim Tebow is getting s*** for being religious then why is Josh Hamilton so loved? Or the countless number of baseball players like David Ortiz who point to the sky after hitting a home run? Or the football players who point to the heavens after a touchdown, who kneel in the endzone before games? Plenty of players are seen kneeling and praying before games, but no one cares. Why? Because they aren't a mediocre talent being plastered on television 24/7 or having an entire sportscenter dedicated to them. They aren't at a podium after their game giving the most vanilla interview and soaking it all in like an attention whore.
oh and to add, I can't think of one time I witnessed a media report involving Tebow's religion where it was negative. The reports I have seen involving his religion(the few I've seen, and I basically only watch sports related television so that means something...) were always positive.
