  1. How many pitches has Carl thrown so far?
  2. Melky really looks lost right now. Not to make this look like a knee jerk reaction to the first few games on this season, but maybe they should have traded him when his stock was high.
  3. Waste there. Had an oppurtunity to really put the game out of reach. Nice to see Giambi get a hit though, maybe that'll get him going.
  4. Remeber when the beam fell at Yankee Stadium and they were forced to play the Angels at Shea? Was that ever weird. I think Strawberry homered and the apple only came halfway up.
  5. Nice to see Eric Duncan finally swinging the bat well.
  6. Off topic, but speaking of pitching, has anyone heard a specific target date for Wang's return? I noticed that they play up in Fenway from the 20th - 22th. That seems right around the time where he would return.
  7. It's possible that if they even thought it was an issue, they decided to let him try to pitch through it. They were desperate for length from one of their starters, and I think the last thing they wanted to do was go to the bullpen in the third or fourth inning.
  8. Fortunately, no. He pitched today.
  9. Oh boy, he's got it going tonight. EDIT: Almost another one.
  10. Probably did it on his own. Schilling seems to really have to early so every run matters.
  11. Smart play by Lugo, at the very least assures that Ortiz or Manny will bat with a runner in scoring position.
  12. Hmm, that's not a bad idea, I wonder if Torre would consider it. I would imagine Johnny would say he's OK to play in CF though.
  13. Wow, it seems like they shift on every power hitting lefty these days.
  14. Yeah, but they were saying on the postgame that Damon has thought about the problems that might occur by playing on the turf in Minnesota, and the expansive outfield in Oakland. But with Matsui out, it's probably safe to say Damon will be in the lineup tomorrow.
  15. It's official, they've recalled Kevin Thompson from AAA.
  16. Wow, I don't know if anyone is watching the Islanders Devils game but, as I'm sure you guys know, the Islanders make the playoffs with a win. They were up 2-1 when John Maddon scored with less than a second left. There is 30 seconds left in overtime. EDIT: Islanders win 2-1 in a shootout. They're going to the playoffs. Good for them, they really pulled it together after they lost their starting goalie.
  17. He'll certainly miss the first series. As for the second series, we'll see. Matsui doesn't anticipate missing anymore time after the DL stint is scheduled to end, but who knows. Robbie Cano missed over a month last year for the same type of injury.
  18. I couldn't agree more. All i'm saying is that I've heard people use that excuse numerous times over the past week.
  19. The Yankees are placing Hideki Matsui on the disabled list. His status has not changed, and it was previously reported that he would be back by next weekend, but the Yankees have decided not to take any chances. It's likely that they'll call up Kevin Thompson from AAA. Although they're playing on turf, it looks like Damon will be in the lineup tomorrow night.
