  1. Good luck today. I mean, how could the MLB have a postseason that doesn't include the Yankees and Red Sox. I don't see the Yankees having much of a chance today. Wright has not been good this whole year, and the Red Sox have everything to play for. I think Torre said he would sit Sheffield and Giambi so the Yanks won't have there best lineup out there. I'm very interested in what the lineups will be.
  2. Yeah, I said Moose is either feast or famine. It seems like if he has his A stuff he is unhittable, but if he doesn't he seems reluctant to differ from his gameplan. Thats why he never seems to go 6 innings 4 runs or something like that. Never an average start. That can either be a really good thing or a really bad thing.
  3. Wow. Who would have thought he had done it that much, but I guess knuckle ballers can do things like that. By the way, I know Schilling is a tremendous big game pitcher, but I also know he has not been the same this year (probably mostly due to injury). What is the confidence level among Red Sox fans with him on sunday if the Yanks and the Red Sox split the first two and he is playing in an elimination game. Also Yankee fans with Mussina, I'm so up in the air with him because he seems to be feast or famine, ie. last two starts.
  4. Has Wakefield ever pitched in a tight spot on 3 days rest before? I think he was on the Pirates when they were really good in the early '90s so maybe he did it then. Anyone know?
  5. The main reason I'm worried about Wang is that the only time he really started a game, on the road, against a great lineup was in St. Louis. He got lit up in that game, (there were a lot of errors) but you could tell he had nothing. I'm hoping that he reputation for being unflappable holds true in this scenario. If he can hold the lead through six innnigs I like the Yanks chances. The best part about the Baltimore series is that the Yanks won 3-4, while Mariano only came in once and threw nine pitches. In my opinion this is such a toss up game that it is hard to predict.
  6. One Red Seat, in game 4 of the 2003 ALCS Wakefield was pitching on 4 days resst, not 3. He pitched the first game of the series, a Wednesday, and then he pitched the fourth game on Monday, because it was rained out on Sunday.
  7. Common, I mean it wasn't even called interference. The call can be argued either way. It was not a clear cut interference call.
  8. YANKEESRULE, you are absolutely right. One of the best parts about this win is that most people wrote the Yanks off, especially on this board, but that is understandable, they are Red Sox fans and are supposed to hate the Yankees. Again lets enjoy, but lets not get ahead of ourselves.
  9. Alright, this is a good win (even though one of our best clutch players just got hurt). We are high right now, but we still have pitching woes, we need a defensive centerfielder, and Brown's back might be acting up again. Yankee fans, lets enjoy this, but not too much. We went through tough times earlier in the year, and those times might come back if our pitching situation is not resolved. The Red Sox (and the Orioles), are very dangerous teams. Just heard on the postgame for the second time that Brown might be hurt. We have our problems, but so do the other teams in the division. One more think, no Rivera tomorrow night, so we better get a good size lead. It is a whole new race. The Yanks weathered the storm, but when we were struggling at our worst we fell to 9 games out. The Red Sox, although they are struggling, are only a half a game out. After tomorrow the two teams may be reversed, again, in the standings. And even if that happens, its not a big deal. This division will be won in late August and September. It should be an extremely exciting and enjoyable race, and good luck to all!
  10. Tons of baseball to be played. Should be an exciting 3 team race (if Baltimore can hang around).
  11. Yeah, thanks. All the people were very nice, I mean I don't think I was obnoxious or anything so that probably had something to do with the good treatment lol.
  12. Damn, Nixon really scares me.
  13. Yesterday was my first time at Fenway in about 10 years, and I enjoyed every minute of it. Besides the fact that the Yankees won I really enjoyed myself. I sat out in dead centerfield, the bleachers, and it was very comfortable. The people were not insane unlike the Yankee stadium bleachers, although I love sitting out there. The concourse was very nice, and I was impressed with the large variety of concessions. I just wanted to say that when all you guys talk about how great Fenway is, you are not lying. By the way, the atmosphere was amazing, but I expected that.
  14. As much as I would like to win this game and take 3 out of 4, the overwhelming factor is that Leiter is a huge unknown. The important part is that they won yesterday, because considering the pitchers that were starting this series a split was what I had in mind. Should be fun, I hope Leiter has the guts to challenge the Red Sox hitters instead of trying to live on the corners. Walks have killed Leiter this year. He has got to limit those.
  15. I'm glad that Francona is not playing Nixon against the Yankee lefties. I understand that his numbers are poor against lefties but he always scares me. Besides Ortiz he is the Yankee killer and he always seems to hit the ball hard. I completely see where you guys are coming from by saying you want him in the lineup.
  16. I heard that Ruben Sierra has tremendous numbers against Wells. Maybe that is someone to watch out for. I think it is nuts that Torre does not field his best lineup against the Red Sox (put Bernie in center instead of Cabrera) because they need to score as many runs as they can especcially with Redding on the mound. Other than that I like the Yankee lineup. Both lineups are pretty similar from last night. I think the majority of the pressure is on the Sox because of the pitching matchup and the fact that if they lose they are down 2-0 in the series with RJ looming on Saturday (not the old dominant RJ but still effective. I really hope this is a quick pitchers duel because I have to wake up early to drive up to Boston for tomorrows game lol.
  17. Sox Fan in Tex, crazy things happen when Tim Redding has to start a game in a series of this magnitude lol. But there is no reason to think that Wells won't appeal. Every player appeals when they get suspended so he might as well just do it now, so he can pitch tonight. Also, we all know how much Wells loves to pitch against the Yankees, so I would certainly think that he would appeal so he can pitch this game.
  18. Any news on whether he has appealed yet?
  19. lol, did Noah or Yeszir run it?
  20. What happened the first time?
  21. I just heard on ESPN radio that Wells was suspended 6 games. He probably appeal and, therefore, will be able to pitch tonight. (What was he suspended for anyway?)
  22. Oh boy JeterWifey, I think a lot of bashing will probably follow that statement.
  23. lol, don't worry, you guys got mad at us for posting on it last night so once the game starts I won't post on it.
  24. Lets just hope Sturtze is ready to go 3 innings tonight and 3 innings on Sunday.
  25. But Myers is really only good for 1 or 2 batters because Francona probably won't use him against righties. The Yankees only have 3 lefties in their lineup (Cano, Matsui, and Giambi).
