That's twice Torre shunned Phelps (once with a lefty on the mound) when Minky was coming up in a huge spot. Both times Minky failed. I don't mind Minky starting the game, he brings a lot defensively to the table, but late in the a close game I don't want to see him hitting in a big spot.
Bruney doesn't exactly have significant secondary pitches either. But his control is better than Farnsworths so I see your point. But either way you at it you're going to see someone throwing a lot of fastballs.
A-Rod stay hot with another hard single.
Well, what's done is done. Now the question is how is Joe going to play the eighth inning whether or not they take the lead. Maybe Myers to face Chavez and then Vizcaino to finish it?
This is a shame, all of a sudden, with the early struggles of Proctor and Farnsworth, the bullpen doesn't look so spectacular anymore.
Who would have though, Farnsworth's best pitch of the inning comes on a slider.
I can't really blame Joe for using Farnsworth, he is pitching with a day off. I just don't get why he's in now. Something doesn't make sense. There you go Farnsworth, stick with your heat unless you're way ahead in the count.
I'm not getting something here. Farnsworth is warming up for the seventh? Is he moving Vizcaino to the eighth inning? Does he plan on using Rivera for six outs? Something isn't adding up. We'll see what Joe decides to do.
Oooh, ok he just snuck out of it. Joe wouldn't think of trying to stretch Proctor out for another inning, would he? I wonder if he was going to use Myers in Proctor lost Kendall or if he is going to start the seventh with Myers. I would tend to think that the A's would pinch hit for the rookie.
