  1. Yeah, the one to the leadoff hitter (I assume that's the one you mean), was really sharp.
  2. Nice to see that, at least early in the season, they can do it with or without the home run.
  3. Home sweet home I guess.
  4. I was joking as well, that's why I put the lol in there.
  5. Pretty unfortunate for Sowers, that's the fourth regular ground ball of the inning that has snuck through. Also, good job by Bowa, he's really getting better at when to send runners home and when not to.
  6. Thank you Bobby. That's is why number three hitters do not bunt, especially in the third inning.
  7. This is baseball, and with the way things seem to go part of me wouldn't be shocked if Ohka beat you guys tonight and then you got to Halladay tomorrow. I would be surprised, but nothing is impossible.
  8. Good post. I agree with your points. After looking at your number two, I'm not sure what you meant in the post that I quoted before.
  9. I think the first part is a bit unfair. Pettitte is very capable of pitching a really good game everytime out, even if he doesn't have his best stuff (see last Sunday, even though they didn't win), Mussina (when healthy) is also a pitcher who can pitch a good game everytime out, as is a healthy Wang. To say that they'll probably lose if the offense has an off night is stretching it. But that also depends on your definition of 'probably'. The way I see it, you're saying there's a 75% chance they lose without a good offensive showing. I disagree. It's not like the Yankee's staff, when healthy, is one of the worst in the league.
  10. With the way the Red Sox rotation looks at this point in the season, it's hard to believe that it won't come down to the wire. Once the Yankees rotation gets a bit healthier, and both teams reach their potential (to some degree) it's going to be one hell of a race. Last year was really unbelievable in a lot of different ways. Everything went wrong that could go wrong for the Red Sox down the stretch (mainly injuries), but that's something that just doesn't usually happen two years in a row. Unless one team gets really ravaged by injuries down the stretch, this could be 2005 all over again.
  11. Wasted oppurtunity there, still up five runs, but they're going to have to go to the bullpen early once again. Not sure if Wright is going to start the fifth. EDIT: He is going out there for the fifth. Lets see if he can get through the heart of the order...
  12. In all seriousness, if the Yankees kept him on the roster instead of DL'ing him, and did not send down one of their pitchers, they would have only had three outfielders (Melky, Damon, and Abreu, not including Cairo).
  13. Pettitte pitched very well yesterday. You have to play who's on your schedule. If a pitcher makes his pitches he'll beat almost anyone. The best part about Pettitte's outing yesterday was that he righted himself after clearly battling with subpar stuff earlier in the game.
  14. Good call. Not sure how I forgot that one.
  15. Off the top of my head I can't think of too many. I mentioned one where he gave up a grand slam in 2002. Last year against the Nationals he allowed three runs, although I don't think the first one was earned (error on Posada). There may have been a non save situation late in 2004 when he gave up a number of runs to the Orioles. Third game of the year in 2005 against the Red Sox he gave up five, not sure how many of them were earned because A-Rod made an error that could have ended the game. This doesn't fall in the last five years, but he gave up a three run HR to Jay Payton in game 2 of the 2000 World Series (non save situation). I'm sure I'm missing some, but I can't think of any others. I don't really want to look it up (too lazy), but I'll post later if I think of any others.
  16. He had a walkoff in the second game of the season last year against Scott Proctor. By the way, this loss is very similar to a game Mo blew against Cleveland in 2002. He gave up two out grand slam to Bill Selby, a utility player.
  17. This one was a bit different than most. Mo will blow a few one run saves when he just gives up a few hits, but this was just weird. Two outs and no one on, the bottom the A's order coming up. The Walker hit was just a bloop, but my problem with that is, especially early in the count, I'd just like Mo to stick with his cutter inside instead of trying to paint the outside corner. The Kendall one bothered me. Mo fell behind 3-1, but against someone like Kendall, even with a three ball count, I'm usually confident Mo won't walk him. He usually rears back and just throws gas down the middle. And then I'd much rather he throw a high fastball on that 0-2 pitch than try to paint the inside corner. I realize that something like this would probably not happen in middle of the season, when Mo starts to get more consistent work. This was just really shocking, especially the way it happened.
  18. I don't get too down after losses early in the season, but this one really hurt. Two outs, no one, bottom of the order coming up, and the best reliever in the history of the game on the mound. I'm pretty much speechless.
  19. Why wouldn't you throw a high FB there? The other thing that upset me about that inning was the first pitch to Walker. Why not use the cutter inside.
