  1. What a strategy, swing early in the count against a guy who has pitch count issues.
  2. I, for one, think this is a mistake and a desperation move. That being said, I'm excited to see him pitch.
  3. Ugh, have to do better holding runners on. Even though it's Crawford that has been something that has concerned me early this season. In terms of this game, Wang is off to a fast start but he may begin to tire soon considering this is his first start back. EDIT: Terrible job there by Cairo, you cannot let that ball take a second hop, and it may give the D-Rays the lead in this inning. EDIT: This is unbelievable, the same thing happened to Posada last night. You would think after the first time he would expect the high hop instead of starting with his glove down. And the Cairo play ends up costing them a run.
  4. I'm not a Joe Torre fan either, but I think that getting swept by the Red Sox was due to the fact that they hard to start Jeff Karstens (coming off one rehab start which was stupid, but not a Torre decision) and Chase Wright. Injuries had a huge effect on the Red Sox series this weekend. That and the fact that Mo had a bad night.
  5. That was funny that McCarver thought Thompson was trying to bait him. Looked like poor base running to me.
  6. Wow, I'm not loving the Yankees lineup today, but I understand there is no reason to take any chances with players in April.
  7. Vizcaino gave up four runs on Thursday because he pitched poorly not because he was overworked. He last pitched on Saturday. If he can't pitch back to back days, whether he gave up four runs the day before or not, it's a problem. EDIT: I'm not a fan of Joe either but not everything can fall on him. There has to be a point where you look at player's performance as well.
  8. My biggest problem is that he didn't let Mo pitch during the week to give him work when he's clearly rusty. Some of the blame also had to fall on Guidry.
  9. It actually is only 18 times this year. Weird. Anyways, this should be a great game tonight, best pitching matchup of the series. This is important for the Yankees if they want to avoid getting swept because the next two matchups favor the Red Sox by a large margin.
  10. Absolutely, I couldn't agree more. I'm a Yankee fan, so obviously I support other Yankee fans, but their treatment of A-Rod over the last few years has been an embarrasment. I'd say this is the ultimate flip-flop. The fact that he got so little support, especially last year, has made me root even more for him.
  11. Not to boost myself up or anything like that, but I have always supported A-Rod. You can look at posts I've made during the 2005 season, or even last year (his worst year with the Yankees), and I've never waivered. I completely agree with your point though, Yankee fans have to realize that's it not always that easy. The fact that they boo him with such hatred, and call up sports talk shows calling for his head says so many negative things about Yankee fans. It shouldn't be hard to have patience with one of the best players in the last few decades, but somehow people lack the least bit of it.
  12. A certain guy pitching for a NY baseball team has a no no into the sixth. EDIT: Make that through six.
  13. Wow, that's really great news. Do you know how many pitches he threw?
  14. Yeah he really does, but it makes me wonder what kind of effect all those postponements had on them. I figured they would beat Chase Wright like a drum last night, and that they would really get to Igawa. I guess not.
  15. What was the answer?
  16. Ugh, to be honest, last year, I would rather see Ortiz at the plate then Manny. I've never seen one guy beat up on another team as consistently as Manny against the Yankees last year.
  17. Wow, then I really must not have been paying attention lol.
  18. I thought it said active players.
  19. Looks that way. I want to see him start going the opposite way like they were talking about during spring training.
  20. Name the only three active players who have hit at least 200 home runs for the same manager.
  21. Varitek brings other things to the team besides his offense.
  22. By the way, Aflac trivia question, I'm thinking both Jones and Pujols.
