  1. Hughes is getting squeezed, but this is just another game where the opponents are taking great swings at his FB.
  2. I only remember two, and neither seemed outrageous ... but I have no recollection of what he did with Florida.
  3. I would love that ... but it would mean almost no playing time for Posada, and I don't think the Yankees would do that.
  4. Losing A-Rod for an extended period of time is just another thing that's going to make winning the division even more difficult. Their goals should simply be to get healthy and make the playoffs ... all while hoping that they have three hot pitchers going into October. But, with the Rays' pitching, I'm convinced the Yankees are going to be fighting to hold off the Rays all year long.
  5. I'll post the call if I find it anywhere ... haven't seen it yet. Anyway, good for Jeter and a good win for the Yankees. But I'm much happier about the win lol.
  6. Guess I just don't remember those. Regardless, I didn't really have an issue with him.
  7. I think we should drop it too, but the claim that AW is Dutchy makes a lot more sense than SFF being Dutchy. SFF and Dutchy don't have the same personality at all ... between posting style and personality, AW and Dutchy are very similar.
  8. As for the Dutchy thing, if AW is Dutchy (and I'm not willing to say that that's a certainty), that doesn't bother me. I thought Dutchy was a good poster (albeit one who had a habit of pointing out everything positive with the Sox and everything negative with the Yankees), who just had one bad night with YOTN.
  9. I think there's reason to believe that Colon will see a significant regression in the second half, but I also don't think this start is indicative of anything long term (just like, if he pitched a CG SO in his next start, that wouldn't have any long term significance either).
  10. Colon has been bad tonight ... probably deserves to have given up more runs. But Niemann hasn't been any better ... Yanks just can't make him pay.
  11. Colon has absolutely nothing tonight. No movement, location, or velocity on his FB ... and it's even more apparent because he's going to other stuff, which he never does.
  12. Good AB by Jaso, but only because the ump stole a K early on.
  13. You really have to look at Hughes' 2010 in two parts. Last night he pitched like he did in the second half, which is an improvement over the beginning of this year, but it won't help the Yankees all that much (in that he won't be better than Nova). He needs to regain his form from the first part of the year, or at least get somewhere in the neighborhood if he's going to help this team the rest of the way.
  14. Suns is delusion if he thinks Cabrera is better than either Reyes or Tulo.
  15. Disappointing series. Onto the next which ... which happens to be a biggie vs TB.
  16. Are you sure? I just went through the pitch by pitch of his first two innings, and only one FB was under 92 MPH (and it was at 91).
  17. Another inning of poor location for Masterson, but no damage done.
  18. The velocity was an improvement though. He was sitting 92-93 up until around 55 pitches. It's understandable that he'd start to tire at that point, considering the length of his minor league rehab outings. But, on the whole, I've just never been a fan of Hughes. FB with decent life, poor location, and little movement. CB with good location, but loopy to the point where it can't really generate swings and misses. And the cutter and the change are subpar. Tonight was representative of Hughes' entire career as a starting pitcher ... always gets ahead of hitters but can't put them away. Until he finds a way to consistently finish off hitters, he'll never be more than a decent pitcher over the course of a full season.
