  1. I like going for the squeeze there ... all on Scutaro for missing the sign (or at least I suspect that's what happened). And why did Remy all of a sudden start openly rooting hard for the Red Sox? Is that an extra innings ritual?
  2. Holland only has faith in one pitch.
  3. Freddy was pretty bad tonight. Splitter wasn't all that good, and he was often in the middle of the plate. Good thing they were facing the Mariners.
  4. I think Miguel Olivo is the guy who once passed a kidney stone between innings and then kept playing. Must be a pretty tough guy.
  5. Haha did you find this online somewhere?
  6. All of this is pretty funny lol. I'd at least like to see Divinity respond.
  7. Just to quickly chime in on the Jacko/AW thing ... who cares got banned and who didn't. Both are good posters ... and I like AW here, he makes the Yankees GT significantly more active.
  8. What that shows is that he wasn't in top form ... not that he was terrible. If someone performs terribly they're giving up rockets left and right. Mo gave up two hard hit line drives, and one decently hit ground ball. He didn't have great movement and he didn't have great location. He was rather mediocre. But that's still a long way from awful ... awful is Trevor Cahill and Phil Hughes from Friday night. EDIT: You've adequately defended the position that he wasn't in top form and didn't pitch well. I completely agree there. But you haven't defended the position that he was awful ... and those are two very different things.
  9. Whether or not balls in play have a chance to be turned into an out has absolutely nothing to do with whether or not the ball was hit hard. That point isn't relevant. Here's what I'd say about each ball in play. Pennington: hit weakly Sogard: hit weakly Weeks: hit decently hard Crisp: hit weakly Matsui: hit weakly Willingham: hit hard Dejesus: hit hard I admit that his cutter wasn't moving as much as it normally does, and his location was perfect like it usually is. He's almost always better than that and maybe by his standards that's terrible, but overall it isn't. Seven balls in play ... four hit weakly ... two hit hard ... and one in-between is not terrible by any standard except the one Mo sets. And where am I getting personal? Being honest and portraying poor points as poor is not getting personal, it's merely being honest.
  10. Terrible is harsh. Seven balls in play ... only two of them hit hard.
  11. Phew, the luck evened out in that inning. They maintain their lead over the Angels and Rays.
  12. Considering the criticism this team gets from all angles, I think it's important to note that their PYTH is the best in baseball.
  13. Bad loss, but with the Angels and Rays losing, no harm no foul. I never expected them to win the division, so losing ground there doesn't really bother me all that much.
  14. Texas Leaguers had his average fastball velocity at 90.9. That means it has decreased, albeit marginally, in each start since his return.
  15. Assuming he's healthy it's getting to the point where the Yankees need to consider the possibility that Nova is a better option over Hughes.
  16. Not surprising, just stupid. Who cares if the guy plays on a divisional rival? Acknowledging his accomplishments =/= rooting for him. If we're going to talk objectively about baseball, there's no reason to not be fair in our assessments of all players. But then again, this is coming from someone who doesn't hate, or even dislike any sports teams, including the Red Sox. I root against them because if they don't do well, it benefits the Yankees, but other than that I have no problem with them. In fact, I really like a bunch of their players.
  17. I'm not looking for Red Sox fans to gush over Brett Gardner ... but that doesn't mean objective discussion can't be had about his value and ability. When the topic has come up before, the general counter argument has been 'who cares about advanced stats, watch him play, etc etc'. But yeah, your analysis of him is fair ... he does all those things well, but despite what WAR says, he's not the most valuable member of the team.
  18. True, but at the same time, the Rays handed them game one of the series.
