Yeah, UZR actually really likes Ellsbury. Every single other year his UZR was excellent ... that's more indicative of his abilities than his 2009 rating.
As frustrated as I've been with a Yankees loss in a long time. Going away on 1-2 to Paulino was so stupid. You continue to go inside in that spot ... he'll never be able to pull the trigger on two strikes against Rivera's cutter. The execution there was not the issue. Mo hit his spot.
Players shouldn't go to the ASG just because that would make too many players from one team. Players should go because they deserve to go, regardless of what other players on their team have done.
Jeter and Cano shouldn't be there, and Martin, despite your feelings on him, is borderline. But the idea that two, or maybe even three, Yankees should be there that aren't is hardly ridiculous.
If he can produce a wOBA around .340, that's quite good. As for his defense, it has been overrated by most, but the pitchers all say that they love working with him. Just because something like that can't be quantified doesn't mean it should be disregarded.
Girardi really is so strange. He's willing to let CC throw 118 pitches, but he won't let him throw a few more to get Fielder, who's a great matchup for him.
