  1. f*** A-Rod. He walked with the bases loaded last game instead of hitting a grand slam. What a piece of s***, choking *******.
  2. Excited, but nervous about tonight.
  3. Haha, not a problem. Considering you're the one person who always has my back about Girardi, it's the least I can do.
  4. Well, I don't know what it feels like to hate a baseball team, so I guess I can't really comment. I just find some of the things people say to be a little bit ridiculous. No big deal though.
  5. Well, you are just always over the top. Which I enjoy haha.
  6. I'm not really a fan of the pies, but I love how people always have a problem with the Yankees. First it's that they're way too serious or business like and never have any fun - "They should be more like the Idiots!!!". Now it's that they have way too much fun. Whatever, people will always have an issue no matter what...
  7. 6 IP and 3 ER and 5.1 IP and 2 ER is hardly beating the Yankees 1-0. It was also in the Division Series, not the League Championship Series. People have this perception that Jaret Wright shut down the Yankees. Hardly the case. In fact, when the Yankees faced him in the playoffs the next year, they really hit him. With that being said, I agree about Pedro, as I've shared the same thoughts in another thread.
  8. That's fair. Obviously I haven't actually witnessed too many World Series', so I might not be as qualified to comment on them as others. However, I have read and watched a great deal, and I feel like I'm more than capable of commenting on them. I understand you're not directing that at me or calling me out or anything of the sort, so I'm simply stating where I'm coming from. Anyway, 1971 and 1979 are definitely interesting ones. 1971 has the appeal of Frank Robinson vs. Roberto Clemente. Robinson should probably have considered keeping his mouth shut before that series and 1969. And 1979 featured the last road team to win a game 7. 1982 was good, and it also had a decent game 7 (back when Joaquin Andujar did more pitching than attacking umpires). The one thing that kind of put me off about the series is that the Brewers actually held a parade.
  9. That's awesome. I'm not sure if I've ever asked you this, but what are your favorite games you've seen in person? Mine are Game 4 of the 1999 World Series and Game 7 of the 2003 ALCS.
  10. Featured three of the greatest World Series games of all time. Game seven featured three all time great starting pitchers, and arguably the greatest closer ever. 2001 certainly has a legitimate case to be number one.
  11. Yeah, I would say 1986 has to be considered, but one of the issues is that three of the games (2, 3, and 4) were one sided. Game 6 was the only truly fantastic game of the series, and game 7 lacked a great ending.
  12. Haha, well, for Red Sox fans I'm sure that's as good as it gets, but it was just a tiny bit one sided.
  13. I figured it was an appropriate time for a thread like this, and, hopefully, it will spark some good discussion and debate. I recently read a book that ranked the top ten World Series' of all time. They were... 1991 1975 1924 2001 1912 1946 1971 1947 1955 1962 I was wondering what everyone else thought... This should make for some fantastic discussion, and, for the baseball historians amongst us, it'll really test our memories.
  14. He made that statement pertaining to all situations? I find that hard to believe.
  15. Actually, one more thing about McCarver, I'm not sure if any of you guys have ever watched the show on MLB Network that Bob Costas hosts, but I highly recommend. Especially the episode where the guests are McCarver and Bob Gibson. The main point of the show was to discuss Gibson's unbelievable performance in the first game of the 1968 World Series, but they get into many other things as well. McCarver really shows his remarkable knowledge of the intricacies of the game during that interview. It's outstanding stuff.
  16. Yeah, McCarver says some silly things, but, overall, I think he dwarfs most of the announcers when it comes to general knowledge of the game. I can ignore the silly lines and whatnot. EDIT: My point is that I made a comment about Phillips, Kruk, and Morgan saying dumb things about baseball. While McCarver has his flaws, I don't think he fits into the same category as those guys.
  17. So ESPN has Steve Phillips claiming the 2008 Tigers have the best lineup in baseball history, John Kruk predicting Randy Johnson would win 30 games in 2005, and Joe Morgan being Joe Morgan. You would think, at some point, they might re-think their hiring process.
