  1. The only reason that the Yankees were able to spend so much money this offseason is because of all the money they had coming off the books. Granted, that won't matter towards the end of their contracts, but my point is that they do have limits. I wish they didn't have those limits, otherwise Carlos Beltran would be in centerfield.
  2. There is not a single Yankee fan that has said this series is over.
  3. So we're on a message board to do what? Not reply to people's posts? That's news to me. I spend the majority of my time in this forum instead of in the Red Sox forum simply because that seems to create unnecessary tension. Due to that fact, I'm going to respond to a decent amount of the posts here. There was nothing nasty or antagonistic about the reply you quoted. I was simply backing up what Jacko said.
  4. I don't get the use of sarcasm here. I understand that Jacko usually has a very rosy outlook for the Yankees, but there wasn't even a prediction in his post. All he stated was facts. Do the Yankees have the advantage in this series? Yes. Do they have the pitching advantage in one of the next two games? Yes. Do they guarantee at least a return home? Yes. Do they avoid Lee once they get back home? Yes.
  5. I really don't care about these things, in the least, but the Yankees would have the best resume this decade. If they win this World Series, that would give them... -Two Championships -Four American League Pennants -Eight Division Titles -Nine Postseason Appearances The only team with as many championships would be the Red Sox. There resume is... -Two Championships -Two American League Pennants -One Division Title -Six Postseason Appearances The only thing that really matters is championships, but, technically, the Yankees do have the better resume.
  6. The problem is that the camera was not out of play. It was sticking out over the fence. When the lineup cards are exchanged prior to the game, the umpires are supposed to inform both teams of any quirks or anomalies that might effect balls in play. Apparently, they did not do this. It's not too big a deal, but it speaks to how poor a job the umpires have done this postseason.
  7. To some people, yes. But I agree with a700. The most likable team is a winning one. Everything else is minor, in my opinion.
  8. I said Marte was really good. They're not going to extend Marte to face only right handed hitters. As for going to Rivera, it's game three of the World Series, he should have went to him to start the inning.
  9. Hell, I wanted them to go out and get Halladay at the deadline.
  10. If you believe Charlie Manuel, these umpires are really ridiculous. Apparently they told Charlie after the A-Rod home run that they discussed the camera before the game, and decided that any ball that hit it would be a home run. However, according to Charlie, they never informed the Phillies of that prior to the game. That's pretty ridiculous.
  11. Hughes made a mistake, but I don't know why you would choose to say that tonight. Joba was decent and Marte was really good.
  12. I really cannot stand Girardi.
  13. Girardi is going for the "cherry on top" in game three of the World Series. Unbelievable.
  14. Nice to see the tack on runs, but I'm disappointed that Girardi isn't going to match up in the bottom of the 8th.
  15. Would love to see Marte for Howard, Hughes for Werth, Coke for Ibanez, and then Rivera (no matter the situation, unless it's tied).
  16. Big run there, but that was a nice play by Ruiz to save another. Now, the Yankees are in a situation where people other than Rivera are going to face the Phillies' best hitters. Tough spot for whoever comes in.
  17. I don't understand why you would green light a struggling hitter (from the right side) on 3-0. Happ didn't earn either of the outs he recorded that inning.
  18. With Pettitte's high pitch count, Rivera's limited availability, and the struggles of the Yankees' bullpen (outside of Rivera), the next 12 outs are going to be a real struggle. On the flip side, it's nice to see some life from the Yankees' offense.
