  1. Lol, yeah. I don't know who is going to be hurt by it, but West is probably going to make at least one enormous and controversial call at some point during the series. Whatever, can't worry about those things.
  2. Haha no, but West, in my opinion, is the kind of umpire who likes to make himself the show. He just loves to step in and make the huge, game changing call. Like he did against the Yankees in 2005.
  3. Ugh, Joe West is on the umpiring crew. I bet he still thinks Cano intentionally interfered with the throw to first.
  4. This. I'm also optimistic that the Pedro who pitched against the Dodgers won't show up against the Yankees. In the cold weather in the first round, they bypassed him for Happ. Then they took advantage of playing in LA to pitch him in warm weather. They won't have that luxury in the World Series. If the Yankees offense has indeed stepped it up starting in game 4 of the ALCS, and Pedro if doesn't miss bats (he only had three Ks in his start against the Dodgers), he might really get hit around. I understand this is a Red Sox board, and the love for Pedro is going to be through the roof, but please try to remember that we are not talking about the 2000 version of Pedro. As a Yankee fan, he is one of my favorite non-Yankees of all time, but he's not the same guy.
  5. All I heard is that he is going into rehab. If he's a sex addict (remember, this isn't the first affair he's had) then I hope he can get over that. I believe in personal accountability just as much as the next guy, but if he is actually addicted to sex it's a good thing he is going to get help. *Cue the "you can never have too much sex" jokes...
  6. If he has a legitimate problem, I hope he finds a way to work through it.
  7. Clearly a hyperbole on my part. However, in my opinion, Girardi made bullpen mistakes in Game 3 of the ALDS, Game 2 of the ALCS (minor), Game 3 of the ALCS, and Game 5 of the ALCS (questionable). Game 3 of the ALDS and Game 3 of the ALCS stand out. Also, in two of the biggest spots of the series, they made a truly awful pitch selection (once following a mound visit). Not to mention, as a700hitter and I have been saying all along, Girardi has been shaky throughout the entire course of the season. The Yankees are an excellent team, but, in my opinion, they win in spite of their manager.
  8. Fair enough. Could have been their 22 run performance two days later as well.
  9. I give Pettitte a ton of credit for last night, but I still think the Yankees' made the wrong decision. In my opinion logic dictated that Sabathia should start game six, especially with the rain out. It did, however, work out perfectly for the Yankees because now they can start CC in game one of the World Series.
  10. I think the Yankees should go Sabathia-Pettitte-Burnett-Sabathia-Gaudin-Pettitte-Sabathia. If Sabathia is slotted to go three times, which I think the Yankees will do, they would then be in a situation where only one other starter would pitch twice. Considering how lefty dominant the Phillies' middle of the order is, I think that should be Pettitte. Also, in my opinion, he is throwing better than Burnett right now. After game three Burnett becomes another reliever, and, the way Hughes and Joba look right now, that might be very valuable. I'm quite confident the Yankees pitch Sabathia three times (if the series goes seven games). I'm very curious to see if the Phillies do the same thing with Lee. Assuming Pedro pitches game two, that would actually mean Hamels would only pitch once in the series.
  11. Look, this is pretty pointless right now. Dipre and I value some statistics higher than Cliff does. Cliff values some different statistics higher than Dipre and I do. No one's opinion are going to change at this point.
  12. It's not his fault if the guys in front of him aren't getting on, or the guys behind him aren't knocking him in. As for the strikeout argument, that's such a minor thing. In most cases, an out is an out. With McGwire's speed, it's probably a good thing that some of those outs were strikeouts.
  13. His career OPS was almost .1000. He was one of the most productive offensive players of the 90s.
  14. .982 career OPS. Very impressive.
  15. Can't blame them for staying away against Vlad. Good piece of hitting.
  16. Thank you Joe. If they lose, they lose with their best.
  17. You can't be serious. This is Mariano Rivera we're talking about. You go for it when you have the chance. EDIT: If they lose, they lose with they're best. That has to be the way Joe plays it. Since Monday, he has faced two batters. He is well rested.
  18. It has to be Rivera. It just has to be. However, I wouldn't put it past Joe not to. What worries me is that if Joe was planning on pitching Rivera in the 8th, you would think he would skip Joba here and go right to Hughes.
  19. That was their chance to cruise to victory tonight.
