  1. I understand that he sometimes keeps his team in the game (and that the offense hits for him), but he would have, far and away, the worst ERA in the entire league if he had enough innings. I find it funny that his 2011 season is considered anything other than 'bad'.
  2. One more turn through for all six starters. EDIT: And as I've said so many times, AJ will never be removed.
  3. I didn't necessarily expect Robertson to stay in, but I also don't really have an issue with it. Nothing he can't handle.
  4. I think Girardi made the right decision. With the heart of the Jays' order up, I'd much rather Robertson than Wade. Against the bottom of the order, with a multi-run lead, I can live with Wade in the ninth (or whoever else they choose to pitch).
  5. I'm far from Posada's biggest fan, but a .354 wOBA vs righties warrants some playing time.
  6. Between Gardner, Jones, Montero, Posada, and Chavez I'm very curious to see how Girardi plans on distributing playing time over this final month.
  7. Brooks had it as a definite strike. Just the perfect pitch in the biggest spot of the game.
  8. I never mentioned those years because the point I was making had nothing to do with those years, or any future years. It wasn't about projecting him forward, but rather about defending his 2010 season. The discussion started between a700 and me, and that's what the topic was ... how effective he was 2010. My only argument was that, in 2010, he was excellent defensively and good offensively. I completely agree with you and ORS about the flaws in his offensive game, and he'll have to change his approach moving forward.
  9. If that's what you expect to find in the other thread I think you'll be disappointed.
  10. The argument I've mostly had with you and a700 is not about Gardner in future years, but rather about Gardner in 2010. He was excellent last year.
  11. That's fair, although I'm not sure I'd call that move a mistake, because I see both sides to it. But if your general point is that Wheeler should get more looks in high leverage situations, then I agree.
  12. OK, but then when did you want him in?
  13. Divinity, I assume you've watched most of the games this year ... do you actually think Granderson has played a good centerfield this year? He made a tremendous play tonight, but it doesn't change what he has done for most of the season.
  14. I don't understand not wanting Bard in the game there. That's the biggest spot of the game, and Bard is the best reliever on the team. Can't wait for the 8th inning there. Francona's mistake was probably letting Aceves start the 7th. He didn't look good in the 6th, and he certainly could have went to Wheeler.
  15. Well so much for that lol.
  16. Just a great piece of hitting. With Pedroia on deck, he needed to challenge Ellsbury.
  17. Not Hughes' fault ... good pitch. Bad play by Gardner though.
