  1. This smells like a big inning for the Rays.
  2. I really hope Cano is hitting third in the playoffs, but I'm not counting on it.
  3. Should be an interesting couple games tomorrow. I suspect the Yankees will treat this doubleheader like they did against the Rays earlier in the week. Play half the starters in one game, and the other half in the second game. I'd be surprised if Joe gave anyone a full day off, but I guess that's always possible.
  4. They won't play their starters every inning, but they also won't do that tomorrow. It's not like they're going to punt the games away.
  5. Tampa is playing so poorly that I still see the Red Sox making the playoffs ... but yeah, I've never seen them play this bad.
  6. Matt Moore looks exceptional ... Colon not so much. Awful game so far.
  7. I totally understand the frustration ... but I just want to make one point. To say with such certainty that these players and coaches don't care, which has been a common sentiment shared in a few places on this board, is pretty ridiculous.
  8. If memory serves, very few people picked the Yankees to win the division. Here's an example. http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/preview/2011/news/story?page=11expertpicks And it's completely understandable. The Red Sox went into the season looking like a much better team ... especially after the two teams went in opposite directions during the offseason.
  9. I think another reason to be positive is that the Red Sox are likely to see a very weak Yankees team this weekend. The starting position players should get some rest, Girardi will take it easy with the bullpen, and CC isn't starting. Despite how the Sox are playing, the unmotivated Yankees might be the perfect remedy for them.
  10. Mo does say some stupid things, and I guess this could be seen as one of them. But if he's referring to their chances of winning the division, he does have a point. Basically everyone assumed it would be the Red Sox, including myself.
  11. Nicely done Yanks. Onto bigger goals.
  12. Between the Nunez and the relievers, the scrubs have done rather well today lol.
  13. Got it from a couple tweets. Seems like it's just his thoughts. http://twitter.com/#!/ESPNJoeyMac/status/115889294484307968 http://twitter.com/#!/alexspeier/status/115890212848144384
  14. Papi just told reporters that Aceves should be starting.
  15. Haha I do love how you never waver on the Yankee hatred.
  16. Nice, very cool. Congrats to Mo.
  17. If the situation was reversed, I would have absolutely no qualms about rooting for the Red Sox. I'd have to imagine that most feel the same way, if they really want to see their team make the playoffs.
  18. You can't protest a game unless it's a question of rule interpretation ... is that what the bad call was?
  19. There are never any guarantees. If they play their starters they should clinch by the middle of this coming week ... which would give them plenty of time to rest guys before the playoffs start.
  20. It would be nice if Girardi waited until the Yankees clinched a playoff berth before he threw out lineups like the one today.
  21. Considering the importance of the game and the fact that he hasn't pitched much this month, I would have went to Paps here.
  22. Terrible camera work and now we don't get the game anymore. Nice job FOX.
  23. Haha there you go. But watch FOX pull it after this inning ends.
  24. This might only be temporary, but they just put the game on.
  25. Fair points guys ... I'm just hoping, considering the importance of the game, that they change course this one time.
