  1. I have a migraine.
  2. That wasn't the point of the statement you quoted. I was annoyed with people getting the fact that the money goes to Seibu wrong and instead saying that it was going to Matsuzaka. Period. The end of the quoted part wasn't meant to lead into the next section of my post. Anyway, I never said that they didn't care about money, or that it doesn't exist. I'm quite aware of it. I just don't understand why some people are annoyed at it. Yeah, it's a lot of money, but to John Henry and Co, it's quite affordable. And yes, they can throw that type of money around. My point in saying that it doesn't count against the cap is that the bid doesn't make us 51 million dollars closer to paying a luxury tax. I'd take issue if that was the case, but it isn't, so I just see this as the FO going out and buying something that they're interested in, and nothing more.
  3. The 51 million goes to Seibu, not Matsuzaka. Get this straight people. I don't get it. It's chump change to Henry and Co. Why is it a big deal? It doesn't go towards the payroll... In theory, yeah, we'll be spending a lot of money on him, but the 51 million just changes hands, and knowing the resources that Henry has, he can do it without worrying about it.
  4. I just listened to it. I disagree with the fact that Ortiz being ahead of Jeter is "ridiculous," but it's a moot point now. But yeah, that guy had no idea what he was talking about. By his reasoning, voting Dye second went basically against what he was saying. Using his reasoning, Ortiz should have been second.
  5. Does anyone have ESPN Insider? Under the "Rumor Central" tab on ESPN's front page, there's something specific about who's interested in Manny and what's going on behind the scenes. I know we hear the same thing every year, but would it be possible for someone to PM the article to me or something, or post it maybe? Regardless of the circumstances, I'm interested in what it says. I think the Angels are interested. Why don't we ask for Vlad in return? I wouldn't mind that... But, if we don't ask for Vlad in return, could you imagine Vlad and Manny in the same outfield? Holy hell...

  7. No one's saying that they care. It's an observation. I really don't give two shits what he wears, but it doesn't mean that he doesn't look god awful. He definitely looks homeless with what he wears. Besides, his son's football team played my brother's last year and I was standing next to him. He was on the sidelines wearing a nice yellow visor and button down shirt. I credit him for coaching in comfort and not caring about his appearance. As long as he coaches well, appearance is the last thing that matters.
  8. I agree, but when people like Speier and even Mike Stanton fly off the market this quickly (not to mention Soriano and A-Gon), things need to start getting done. I'm happy that they're taking the time to negotiate with Mastuzaka, but they really need to get serious and get busy, and fast. That being said, it's quite possible that they're on the phone with many agents as we type
  9. We're a little preoccupied at the moment with Matsuzaka, seabeach. I understand the frustration, but if/when they sign Matsuzaka I think you will change your tone. I agree though, they really need to sign someone who can make an immediate impact. I'm surprised that they didn't go after Speier really quickly. It doesn't seem like it would have taken them too much time to sign him to a deal. They desperately needed him, and now he's gone. I hope this FO wakes up and realizes the fact that we need to start filling holes before everyone's off the market. I can understand that they're a bit preoccupied with Matsuzaka but I agree with you in that it's no excuse to not fill the other glaring holes that currently plague the team.
  10. Belichick looks god awful on the sidelines. He was considering wearing a suit too, if I remember correctly.
  11. Let's break Urbina out of prison!
  12. Maybe if he's given a chance on a team like the Red Sox and he has the opportunity to shine, he'll kick himself in the ass and play like he's capable of playing.
  13. Whoa, whoa, whoa. Is this the apocalypse? Did a deserving MVP award winner on a team that missed the playoffs actually win the MVP?
  14. Toronto can say goodbye to one of its coveted players. He seemed to be a Red Sox killer for some reason. Good riddance! http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=2668883 3 years, $13 million.
  15. Great Sunday Night game going between the Chargers and Broncos. The Chargers just took the lead 28-27. If you aren't watching I strongly advise you to tune in.
  16. Alright, thanks guys. I figured that was the case, just wanted to make sure.
  17. So, for Thursday...Chiefs/Broncos is on the NFL Network. What if you don't have the NFL Network? I'm assuming you don't see the game. But, what if the Pats were to play on the NFL Network sometime and say that some of us didn't have it. Does that mean you get REALLY inconvenienced and just can't see your own team's game? That's pretty lame, if true...
  18. It looks like the O's are trying to re-unite as many pitchers as possible with Mazzone. See: Russ Ortiz, Jaret Wright, now Tim Hudson?
  19. I love you, Bill Mueller. God speed.
  20. So Mets/Yankees isn't anything? Besides, like Kilo said, they play every year.
  21. I didn't say you were the only one. I said that the ONLY things you post have nothing to do with baseball except for the fact that you're trying to throw dirt back into their faces. I wouldn't hold it against you if you contributed rational ideas every now and then instead of your constant backlashings against Optimist and Gom. Ok, back to the thread for real this time.
  22. 2 yrs / $18M ? Holy hell.
  23. You do realize that you basically only post in response to something that a Yankee fan said, trying to shove dirt back in their faces. Have you ANYTHING else to say? For the record, Optimist has contributed more in one day than you have in your time here. Sorry for re-directing the thread, but he was starting to annoy me. Is it just me or does anyone else notice this about "pudge?" Maybe I'm crazy. I don't know. Whatever. Back to Lugo vs. Gonzo.
