  1. He was kidding.
  2. Well, considering that everyone in New England knows exactly where he is, yeah, I wouldn't be surprised.
  3. Guys, please pass whatever it is you're smoking..
  4. Due in large part to his steroid suspension? I believe he was suspended, correct me if I'm wrong.
  5. Yeah, but they were against teams that couldn't hit or were settling down for the playoffs. It couldn't possibly be because he pitched well
  6. ...he's not a Red Sox fan.
  7. Whatever, I meant the self-imposed cap that the team places upon itself. I meant the luxury tax.
  8. At least right field is closer to the infield at Yankee Stadium
  9. Oh, I didn't know that. What about switching to right field, though?
  10. I understand, but it's almost ridiculous. They won't even give him a chance. I personally will hold off judgment as well, but at least be open to the fact that we're going to be seeing what he can do.
  11. *yawn* another thread about this.
  12. You Yankee fans just won't give us a breath of excitement, will you? It's ridiculous. Let us have our moment, it's a goddamn Red Sox board anyway, for f***s sake.
  13. That was 2 seasons ago. 2 seasons matters at his age. I have bad memories of Loretta... his range sucked. His defense was good for what his range allowed, but he couldn't get to groundballs that Pedroia will be able too. Pedroia's quicker.
  14. Vernon Wells was offered a 7 year / $126 million contract from the Jays. I'm sure the Yankees could go higher, but does Vernon Wells just switch to RF for you guys?
  15. You guys are just looking for any reason to stop our celebrating. The point is, we defied the market. Matsuzaka, in this market, should have gotten at least 12-13 million/year. We got him at a BARGAIN when you look at it. Or, you could look at it this way when you include the total amount spent on Matsuzaka (with posting fee): Meche is making about half as much as Matsuzaka. If Meche were to pitch in Boston, he'd be the number 5.
  16. Maybe Boras understands that Matsuzaka is worth $100 million when the posting fee is INCLUDED in that. Which is the way it's supposed to be.
  17. If that's the actual contract... in a market where Gil Meche gets 11mill/year and we get Matsuzaka for 8.66mill/year (guaranteed money)? Absolute STEAL.
  18. ...really? Please tell me that deal was with a team not named the Boston Red Sox.
  19. Just in case some of you don't see my post in the other thread .... here: If this is indeed true, that was a steal. Nice job, guys. Seems like, from the report, that they were able to get Boras to accept incentives in the deal. This is about 8.66 million/year. I can't believe that Boras would settle for that in guaranteed money. I'm ecstatic that we were able to get him for less than 15 million, because I was ready to dish out that much. Boras lowering his guaranteed money demands by almost 7 million? Unheard of.
  20. Rotoworld - If this is indeed true, that was a steal. Nice job, guys.
  21. No, I understand you're reasoning behind bashing Theo. That wasn't my point. I was focusing on the A+ you gave Cashman and wondering how the hell you can give him that grade. I don't care what Igawa's salary is in line with, posting that much for a back of the end rotation guy isn't worth it by the logic you're using. I would be happier if your grade was more in the mid-low B range. It could spike quickly, but he's essentially made 2 moves this season that will have immediate impact - Pettite (good signing), and Igawa (not so good for what was spent on him). Thus, an above average grade, but not a perfect grade, seems acceptable.
