  2. On ESPN, they have two pictures from different games. Sunday's game, and ALCS game 3. The substance was on his hand in both pictures. I don't see how he can get out of this one. It definitely seems like he cheated. If it wasn't a big deal, then why did he go to wash it off? (One of the smartest things I've heard McCarver say...and that's not saying much)
  3. Indianapolis @ Denver next week will be a doozy.
  4. Question: If a person who is playing for recognition only ends up winning a category (spread or straight), does money go out to the person who got the most right that's playing for money? Say RR15 wins the straight category, and I come in second place. Since he's only playing for recognition and because he won that category, does any money go out at all?
  5. As ORS said, I was referring to the behavior of the fans. I don't buy into the fact that the loss of Pedro was a huge deal. Look, I know anytime you lose a guy like Pedro it hurts, but he was injured a few times during the season and the Mets were still able to move right along. The loss of El Duque hurt because of his post-season experience and the fact that they were banking on him. The Mets had no problem taking care of the Dodgers, but when they run into a team that was 15 games worse than them during the season they folded. Hell, Jeff Suppan was the NLCS MVP. The Mets got dominated by JEFF SUPPAN. Whenever Jeff Suppan is your NLCS MVP, it's quite indicative of the skill of the league you play in. The A-Rod Light thing made me laugh a bit. It's way too true.
  6. Buffalo's gotta lose sometime... *gulp*
  7. I've never seen people explode like that in my life. The Mets were frauds all year anyway... what a collapse in the post-season. This team was 15 games better than the Cardinals and still failed to pull through. What a bunch of whiners. Sure, getting eliminated sucks, we've known that for a LONG time, but my God I don't think we've ever s*** our pants like that...
  8. Okay. Why is that relevant to my post? And it's "they're." Not "there."
  9. I was hoping for a Mets-Tigers world series so I would be happy with either outcome. Now I'm rooting for the Tigers. It's not that I have anything against the Cardinals, it's just like...it seems like they've been in it every year and they kind of bore me (minus Pujols). I won't care who wins, but part of me wanted to see a game 7 go into the 20th inning and the Mets pinch hit Julio Franco and he hits a go ahead homerun to win the title for the Mets.
  10. We need a pitching staff But, there's a thread on this already so most of the talk on the off-season will be in there. It's called the "Warm Stove" or something.
  11. A-Rods failures in clutch situations WHILE IN NEW YORK isn't merely a "slump." It's habit. I'm damn sure that he's probably the best player in baseball. When you have league average numbers in a down year, you're pretty damn good. We make fun of him when he goes through these failures because we know of his talent, and we know what type of player he is. It just never fails to humor us when he can't play like that in the spots where he needs to most. Some people just can't handle the pressure of being on the big stage, and A-Rod obviously can't. If he moved out of New York to another team, I'm sure we'd see him tearing it up again. And, like ORS said, we're all aware of A-Rod's mega-talent. And, like I said, it's humorous when he fails to play like one in the spots where he needs to.
  12. Shut up, Toadstool. Now bend over and call me your daddy.
  13. Well, I wouldn't label us sufferers anymore Welcome. I hope you become a member of the group of welcomed Yankee fans on this board.
  14. He played for the Cubs for quite a few seasons... it's not that surprising that he had a batting glove from the team where he really started getting full playing time during his career. Maybe it was a superstition that oh so many ballplayers have.
  15. This adam guy doesn't know what he's talking about when he posts. He lost credibility with me quite a few posts ago.
  16. Ha.........ha..... I hate how they make big stories out of stupid things. Besides, there was no curse. Just a team that never had the weapons to get it done for 86 years.
  17. 11? Not too bad for a Wednesday evening
  18. Yeah, I was struggling with the order.
  19. Carpenter has problems on the road, but it's obviously better to be in a position like the Cards with Carpenter on the road than having this same situation with Weaver tonight. They took a gamble last night and it paid off big time. Weaver has been quite impressive.
  20. Ortiz-Manny-Pujols. *shudder*

  22. Easy. The Cardinals sucked after dominating the first half. Bears special teams and defense kept them in the game, while the Bears' O-Line continued to be embarrassed even late in the game, resulting in 2 lost fumbles and rushed throws for Grossman. However, Grossman did suck even when given time in the pocket, and threw a couple ugly INTs as well as some additional passes that should have been picked. He's lucky he didn't end up with 6 INTs. After the Cardinals blew this game, there was no hope for this team. Like See Red said, Kornheiser is right. As for the '85 Bears, this team can't be compared to them until we see what they do. The Bears could definitely make the Superbowl but after watching this, teams like the Panthers, Saints, Giants and Eagles could give them a tough time.
  23. I heard the Cards may be going with Carpenter for this game instead because of the day off. Has anyone heard this too or am I hearing things?
