  1. Oh, whoops. His threads were titled differently. My bad.
  2. Sounds good! Welcome to TalkSox.
  3. The University of Miami continues to have an unfortunate season.... Defensive lineman Bryan Pata was shot and killed in the parking lot of his off-campus apartment about 2 hours after the Hurricanes ended their practice. http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/news/story?id=2653361 Thoughts and prayers go out to his family, friends, and anyone else who knew him. Sad, sad day for "The U."

  5. Javon Walker was huge for my fantasy team today
  6. Who saw that Cowboys/Redskins game? The Cowboys f***ing suck.
  7. I would love it if the Yankees picked up Jeff Suppan. Maybe we'll get lucky and they'll stack their rotation with Jeffs (Suppan and Weaver) ?
  8. Zak Farkes works out everyday in my school's gym. I always see him there. Haha, sorry, back on topic.
  9. Of course it's all BS. All he's trying to do is get other teams to increase their offers. For a guy like Aramis Ramirez, I'd increase my offer...
  10. I would have loved to make a package of MDC, Hansen and Coco for Andruw Jones. There was also rumor that we would have flipped Jones to Houston for Oswalt. That would have been sexy.
  11. Yeah, that was the one thing that was bothering me when I was writing it, but I guess I decided to turn the shoulder to it I guess I wanted to see if someone else would point that out. Which you did. Fair enough.
  12. Holy s***. Did you really just say that ORS has red colored blinders on? I actually just chuckled. You rail against the Red Sox by asking if the Red Sox can contend for the AL East title in '07 before the '06-'07 offseason has even officially begun. You keep saying that the Yankees are going to finish above them and are better. Jesus, no deals or signings have even been made yet.
  13. Bahhhhhhhhh. I was afraid this was going to happen. Someone made a post after mine and the attention got taken away from my post. I'm really interested in what people think about my proposition about Wakefield. Read post #24.
  14. As far as Pavano goes, your ranting against Pavano means nothing. Every single Yankee fan rants against him. Try someone else.
  15. I'm starting to have something brewing here. Slam me if you think it's a terrible idea, or if you think it's a legit idea, let me know. If I were the Sox, I would go after Schmidt or Matsuzaka (obviously). Getting both most likely won't happen, so I'll say we only acquire one. Then, I would go out and get another decent starter that could hold down the 5th slot in the rotation (like a Meche type player) and have the rotation look as follows (in no particular order, these are just the members): Schilling Beckett Schmidt/Matsuzaka Papelbon Meche/someone else What do you guys think about using Wake to hold down the closer role for 1 season? He's got experience out of the bullpen to go with the large amount of stamina he has as a result of being a knuckleballer. Not to mention the fact that the velocity change for the 9th inning would absolutely baffle hitters. He's also the type of guy, because of his stamina, that could get you 2 inning saves if need be. Hell, maybe even 3 innings. And the best part is, you could probably use him every night that you needed to (I'm not saying you would use him the night after he pitched 3 innings). There's a hole in the back of the bullpen that needs filling. Do you think Wake could hold down the closer role for this year only, and then next off-season go after a closer when the market would be much more appealing (Francisco Cordero would be available) ? Let me know your thoughts. If you hate it, well then, say it, but I don't think this idea is too crazy.
  16. I think what you think. I agree that they are either trying to talk out of their asses in an attempt to lower the cost of negotiation, or that they're telling the truth for other reasons we don't know. Maybe they know something about the guy and want to make it clear that they aren't interested. I don't know. I just disagree with you on the fact that it will influence a bid fluctuation. I think there is a 0% chance that any team will bid less than they originally planned to just because the Mariners said that they aren't going for it. We both agree on WHY they did it, but we disagree on the after effects.
  17. OMG LYKE TOttAlLY hiLARIOUS GUYZ! ROFL ROFL ROFL!!!!1111ONEONE I PWN n00bz!
  18. I understand what you're saying, but I still don't buy it because I don't think it will happen. We could go back and forth on this all day. I see your point, you see mine, we'll just have to agree to disagree. I still don't buy the fact that the Mariners simply stating they won't bid strongly for Matsuzaka will influence other FOs to decrease their bid. If the Mariners end up winning the rights to negotiate with Matsuzaka, it won't be because other teams decreased their offers, it'll be because the Mariners simply outbid the uninfluenced offers from other teams. I understand that they had nothing to lose, but at the same time I'm sure that there are smart people like Theo and Cashman that are quite aware that this is a possible trick up Bill Bavasi and Howard Lincoln's sleeves.
  19. No, it wouldn't. Whenever you go up against the Yankees, you are never encouraged to lower your bid. The Yankees would never lower theirs because they wouldn't want to give anyone a prayer to beat them. Not to mention it wouldn't even hurt them if they kept their offer way up there.
  20. It's not the ignorance I laugh at, it's your lack of knowledge about how to spell your own team's RF's last name.
  21. You spelled Abreu* wrong. Twice.
  22. Then, god damn it, let's bring in Barajas because you heard he can catch a knuckleball well!
  23. We won't know unless the Mariners actually get him. It's a blind bidding process. No one knows which team puts up what amount of money except for the people coordinating the process. If the Mariners don't get the rights to negotiate, we will never know how much they put up, even if they put up a good amount.
