  1. Squandering men on 1st and 2nd with no outs is our particular specialty. It'll be interesting to see how we do it this time.
  2. All that is required is a sufficient number of pitches judged to be outside the strike zone. Oh... that's not what you were asking...
  3. I was about to ask the same thing myself. Given that we've scored (IIRC) the 2nd most runs in the majors, I doubt it -- we do drive guys in. But I'll leave it to the stats guys to provide the real answer.
  4. Dang... you'd have to be hitting like Ted Williams to make up for that kind of ineptitude. Let's see -- I don't have the stats right in front of me... could someone check and see if Lugo is hitting like Ted Williams?
  5. Gotcha. Gamecast didn't show that. Thanks.
  6. How'd a guy score from first on a single?
  7. More to the point, every time the ball hits his bat it turns into a weak ground ball.
  8. Ballgame. JHB, there's the coup you were speaking of.
  9. Surprised me too. I guess MDC hasn't worked in a while. I think the Tigers are mailing this one in anyway.
  10. That was an entirely acceptable inning by Hansen against 3 pretty good batters. He stays in for the 9th too?
  11. I was thinking he had 39 errors and a -.087 average. My bad.
  12. How does Lugo have a .288 average? I'm not sure I've ever seen him get a hit. Check that -- he laid down a nasty bunt single Tuesday. Presumably he does sometimes swing the bat and get a hit...?
  13. I heard a wise man say this same thing... can't quite remember who or where...
  14. Drew swinging at the first pitch? No way, must be a lifelike Drew android or something...
  15. Well, we went pretty quietly in the 1st, but we saw 25 pitches. Just trying to see the positives here.
  16. Yeah, clearly no one hit the ball even remotely hard against Paps. And far be it from me to criticize the Insane One. But usually he can miss bats when he needs to, and tonight he didn't. Not his fault, really, as he pitched well enough for the save. But he woulda shoulda coulda gotten the save anyway. EDIT: ...or at least preserved the tie.
  17. Maybe... but just going from the GameCast feed, Paps wasn't very closer-ly, either. 9 times out of 10 he gets Polanco there at the end, but it's a lot harder to do when you dig yourself a 3-0 hole. That game was a roller coaster. Glad I went to last night's game and not this one.
