    You know, I was seriously thinking of Ellsbury as Ichiro today. Maybe that's a common thought, but it's one I'd never seen or read before. Speed? Check. Plus defense? Got it. Steal bases at will? Roger. Sprays the ball all the heck over the place? Yup.

    It wasn't pretty at the beginning, but 6 IP with no runs is OK with me no matter how it looks. I assume he's done. Let's see if the pen can hold the slim lead! Should be OK since Gagne's in Milwaukee, blowing Brewer leads instead of ours.

    Lowrie instead of Casey since Gabbard's a lefty, I assume. Not to beat a dead horse, but I'd rather see Lowrie instead of Lugo. Small sample size, I know, but in 12 AB Lowrie has done a lot more with the bat than Lugo in 66 AB. ESPN.com's player stats have Lowrie with a .417 BA and a .385 OBP. That seem odd to anyone else?

    Lugo in LF... and you thought he was exciting at SS! Speaking of which, why is Crisp not in the outfield? Is he beat up or something?

    That's good. I'm happy to have taken the lead, but I'd prefer to do it without the umpires hosing the Rangers' pitcher.

    All of this started after we made 2 quick outs. I like it.

    Seriously. I mean, look at our lineup. No Manny (for most of the game), no Tek, no Pedroia (for most of the game), and we're still hosing their relievers.

    Or we could just build a scarecrow at the SS position, and hope that grounders will occasionally clang off of it toward another fielder. Then move the scarecrow to the batter's box when necessary and hope for HBP. That'd be a good approximation of Lugo so far.
