  1. It's such a crapshoot with Tavarez. Sometimes he goes in there and makes the opposition look stupid for 3-4 innings. Other times...
  2. I was at this game. It was a thing of beauty. We were up in the nosebleeds for the first half of the game, but moved down to RF in time for Papi's bomb to go about 50 feet over our heads. Sweeeeeet. Only regret -- my man Duddy had an off night. I would have liked to see the Doubles Machine in action. All in all, a very fine evening.
  3. How many pitches did Matsuzaka end up throwing in 5 innings? The line looks really nice if you just avoid looking at the number before "BB".
  4. Unless his cat started shooting at me. Then it'd be self-defense.
  5. Aardsma is 12.5% learning disabled? He looks pretty bright in his GameCast picture...
  6. OK, that makes sense. On the other hand, if you don't pitch Timlin with an 8-run lead, when do you pitch him? We can agree that Aardsma > Timlin right now, I hope...
  7. Really? His stats on the season look half-decent. Way too many walks, but a 3 ERA. But you've seen him pitch and I haven't, so maybe you know something I don't.
  8. Aardsma? But he's half-decent! Shouldn't Timlin be mopping up?
  9. Admit it -- it would be entertaining in a pathological sort of way to watch Gagne try to blow an 8-run lead.
  10. Right now, our rotation pwns. You don't play around with that. Now if someone is stinking up the joint later on when/if Schilling is ready to go, that's a different question.
  11. 7 pitches, 7 strikes, 3 outs. That's rich Paps goodness.
  12. I was going to moan about our bullpen, but in their defense both of those runs were unearned (thx Julio!). I am, however, going to go nuts if I see another reliever enter the game and promptly walk the first batter he faces.
  13. Some of those runs we squandered in the 5th and 6th would come in handy right about now.
  14. I asked this in a previous GT, but I can't remember if I got an answer: why does Ellsbury draw so many walks? As a pitcher, you have to know that walking him is the equivalent of giving up a double -- if second base is open, he will soon possess it. He's not going to kill you with a lot of longballs, so why not pitch to him?
  15. Just your everyday 5-3-2 double play.
  16. I seriously don't know which of those guys I love more. I guess it's Duddy by a hair right now, but Ellsbury is teh awesome.
  17. Hitting with 2 outs is mmmm mmmm good.
  18. Watch out -- TheKilo will come and make you
  19. Return of the doubles machine.
