  1. Ah, the ol' walk --> wild pitch combo. It worked great in the 1st inning! EDIT: and to the same guy, no less.
  2. The Royals are stranding runners in scoring position as if they were the Red Sox or something.
  3. Ellsbury sez "I will now foul all your crap off and take the free pass." Bannister now has the same pitch count problem as Dicey. Both bullpens are eating complex carbohydrates to prepare for the workload.
  4. Don't make me go all ALCS Game 6 on you.
  5. At least he has three Ks to go with the three BBs. But that equals a lot of pitches thrown: he's on track to give us 4 innings today. Huzzah! Come on, Dicey, settle down and give us 6. Five, you say? That'd be OK too, I guess.
  6. There are few things more frustrating than watching a pitcher issue fee passes. However, here is one one thing that is more frustrating: watching a pitcher issue free passes to the Kansas City Royals.
  7. What Would Dustin Ellsbury Do?
  8. Meche back out with 100+ pitches? OTOH, he has pretty much handcuffed us for the last 4 innings.
  9. Judging from recent performance, it's hard to see why he ever goes with MDC. I think he and Timlin have crossed trajectories now: Timlin has been respectable in his last few outings (IIRC), and MDC has been pretty rough. At least Masterson is still in line for the win. Score runs, please.
  10. Didn't you guys say that Masterson got hammered his last couple of starts in the minors? I realize KC has no better than a AAAA offense, but it's still hard to see this guy getting owned by the Mechanicsburg Camshafts or whatever.
  11. That's a whole lot of zeroes on the scoreboard.
  12. And they've equaled last night's hit total. We were uncharacteristically efficient with our hits last night.
  13. In other news - Orioles just dropped 7 on the Yanks in the 1st inning. Only 1 run was earned -- thanks Jeter!
  14. Another potentially important aspect of the game: we have AAA callups starting the next two games, so chances are we're going to need some relatively heavy innings from the bullpen (especially since Colon isn't totally stretched out yet...?). So tonight gave them some extra rest, which isn't bad at all.
  15. Yeah, he kept us in the game so the offense could pull it out in the end. Good job by the 'pen, too...
  16. 110+ pitches? Time to put Chris Smith in. j/k
  17. 8 pitches to get the save. Any of you who saw that coming, please raise your hands. That's what I thought. WIN!
  18. Timlin in for the one-run save... one of the less savory aspects of doubleheaders.
