  1. People doubted Youk too, but he's done a very good job I'd say
  2. Unless Ramirez gets a shot, you can't say he can or can't hack it.
  3. i dunno, Mannys been clutch as of late..........
  4. we always get robbed in that same spot
  5. i agree, after his solid performance in his first start, why not let Papelbon go again, when Schills ready u can make the switch, Papelbon ot the pen. Plus, I'm liking Gonzales in the pen so far
  6. I say trade him. His gold glove has been more like platinum this season, and although his hitting is getting better I still don't see him as a threat. Ramirez deserves his shot and would be a much cheaper alternative. Also, if last year's playoffs were any indication, Renteria is not that clutch.
  7. Too bad though, Olerud was just getting hot.
  8. wow, Millar plays left field like Long..........................i still hate Edgar, but happy he tied the game. still overpaid and overrated
  9. See how much you like Edgar once he grounds into a DP
  10. I hear ya, much rather him in left than Millar.....who by the way made a great play on Long's bases loaded single...i'm sorry double
  11. Did Renteria say that before or after his fifteenth error?
  12. He got a freakin bloody nose. There's nothing wrong with him. He could easily play today. But as Elsbrueno said it'll be a nice excuse to take a week's vacation. Heck, I wouldn't be surprised if this becomes a 'lingering injury' like his hamstring last year. But the plus side is we can play something else on Renteria. I hate him.
  13. I'm glad not only to see Gammons and Boggs in the Hall, but especially Ryne Sandberg. He's one of my favorite players of all- time and I'm glad he's being recognized as one of the greatest of all- time. He was the reason I wanted to play second base in Little League and with good reason. Congrats Ryne.
  14. No one's saying Manny isn't good, but the fact he's whining about being mistreated in Boston is ridiculous. He deserved to be booed the other night and I hope it continues. Manny is exactly what has been wrong with the Sox the last five years. Every player has their own ego. Him and Pedro are the same. Yeah they'll put up the numbers when called upon, but the antics are not worth the salary sometimes. The days off, or last year's hamstring issue, all this just puts himself above the team. Meanwhile guys like Damon and seems like Clement play hurt to try to help the team win. The Sox easily have the ability to replace Manny's bat with another very good one. WE DON'T NEED HIM. We got all the way to the World Series virtually without him and then four good games saved him, but the Sox would've won those games anyway. I would much rather the Sox play a guy like Kapler or Stern everyday and lose a little offense than play a disgruntled $20 Million whinebag who doesn't give a damn. I hope today is Manny's last day as a Sock, and if not I hope it's his last season. And I hope his next stop begins the end of his career.
  15. Yeah, if you remember, Millar had a great July last year too. Turned out it was his only good month of the year. Don't be surprised if that happens again this year. I still say trade him.
  16. Yesterday looked like a preview of what's to come, as well as a flashback to last year. Glad to have Gabe back. He probably will split time with Cruz in right for Trot, and I'm sure Manny will need more days off........But that's a whole new topic. Great to see Gabe back in the Sox uni.
  17. Gotta win this one. Not only to keep the Yankees at a little bit of a distance, but I'm doubting that the O's will drop another one to the M's. Can we please have a ball boy coach third base too?
  18. Dale Sveum should be shot 143 times, because thats about how many runs he's cost us in two years. HE IS THE WORST THIRD BASE COACH IN THE HISTORY OF BASEBALL. I know Millar is about as fast as a 1920 Ford, but even he can score on a high hopper up the middle, a hit that also had him going on contact. And then, Sveum/Belli/Millar don't even have enough common sense to try and divert attention from the rundown by threatening to score Millar, the guy didnt even take a foot off third base. Screw getting a bullpen, the Sox should pick up a new third base coach for the trade deadline, then maybe we will only be the second worst base running team in the world.
  19. Hey ARod, I forget, what happened after that Boone home run you've immortalized? Oh thats right the Marlies spanked you guys, Boone got hurt, and then we spanked you. Shouldnt u at least put ARod as your icon, even though he's the reason we beat you guys in the first place.
  20. Youkilis. The kid has proven over the last year and a half that he's the real deal. He's got all the tools of a strong middle of the order hitter. Also he's young and can only get better, but not if he's sitting on the pine.
  21. More proof Youkilis should be starting much more often
  22. Gonna go against the grain and say the Yanks. 2/3. That way they only move up a game at best, but the Os fall a lil further back.
  23. Hey 26-6 here's a number cruncher for ya: 1-0 2-0 3-0 3-1 3-2 3-3 3-4
  24. Good riddance Payton, I say. I guess $3.5 Million to fill in a few times a week on a playoff and potential World Series contender could be considered a rough life. As for Nixon, I think he should be allowed to bat against lefties more. He can only get better, and he doesn't seem to be that bad of a hitter against them now. Zenny, you commented on an ugly at bat of his, but everyone has them. I've seen Manny look at pitches he could hammer onto the Pike as well as swing at pitches that Vlad Guerrero would lay off of. Plus, if Nixon stays hot, he will probably be confident enough to hit anybody, no matter which way they pitch.
