  1. I hate to say it because I do like Tek, but is it time to see if Belli can carry us for a while. I mean Tek is getting a little ridiculous. I know he's coming off a career year and all, but his numbers aren't too great. Plus, this last week (esp. against the Yanks) he has really been sucking it up. Meanwhile, almost every time Belli plays he does well. Belli could be the catching version of Gabe Kapler.
  2. Hey look at that, once again Steinbrenner's umpires screw the Sox. If we lose by one I will be ********.
  3. I have mixed emotions on Burks, which will probably depend on his performance. If he can show a solid bat he will prove to have been worth the wait. Otherwise, he will have taken up a spot the whole year that a guy like Daubach could've taken.
  4. Well I can certainly tell ya that Lowe isnt getting a 3 year, 27 mil offer this year. However, I don't think he has been that bad of late. Sure, Thursday was ugly, but overall he's been decent this year. I'd much rather him than Wake in the playoff rotation.
  5. Kim may not be a bad pitcher, but some guys can't handle the spotlight. He would probably do well in a small market i.e. Arizona (minus the World Series) than here in Boston, as he has shown. Ship him off and get someone who can handle the heat.
  6. Why does everyone have to take the Yankees Suck chant so literally? It doesn't have to mean that the Yankees are not a good team, for that's ludicrous given their recent track record. To mean it means, I hate the Yankees in a more rhythmic way. Yankees Suck does sound better than I hate the Yankees. The chant does add to the rivalry believe it or not. I can tell you I love hearing the chant even at a freakin Padres game. I don't know why, but it just seems to make the rivalry better. I went to a New York Rangers game once and they cheered when they saw on the scoreboard that the New York Islanders had lost. Neither team is really that good, but the passion is still there, and it makes attending the games more fun. Finally, the deal with A- Rod is as such: 1) Yeah he did want to come here and tried hard to get here and I respect that. 2) However, it is tough to watch a guy (although his decision makes sense) go from a Bud Selig away from playing for your team to suddenly switching alliances to your biggest rival 3) Finally, now he's public enemy number three (after Jeter and Sheffield) because of the brawl. Maybe he didn't deserve the negative feedback earlier in the year, but he certainly deserves it now. Plus, you guys have the same sentiments towards Pedro, Tek and Manny. IT ALL JUST MAKES THE RIVALRY BETTER
  7. No one played well this weekend. So don't worry too much about Tek
  8. Either way it will be a tough first round. If we play Oakland we see a Cy Young candidate, a former Cy Young winner and a hard throwing righty (Harden). On top of that the A's have a gritty batting order who will make us work to get them out. Let's also not forget they'll be looking for some revenge. If we play Minnesota we'll face the likely Cy Young winner and AL strikeout leader. Their pitching drops off after that though. But they also have a better lineup than Oakland and are a very good fielding team too. If by chance Anaheim becomes are foe we will have a struggling, but still pretty good Colon and a strong bullpen. We will also face a strong lineup lead by Guerrero who has had some success against us this year. The road to glory is never easy. And it certainly won't be this year
  9. It's not so much bad luck as lack of effort. We don't even try to steal enough. I mean Damon, a former 4o base stealer only has 17 this year. 17!!! He should have at least 25 by now. And Roberts should probably have about five in his own right. Only recently have the Sox tried to utilize the speed they have.
  10. If the Sox put Kim in the 'pen I might bail. This guy is not only a whinebag and has a bad attitude, but he is the WORST CLUTCH RELIEVER I have seen in my life. It wasn't even just last year's playoffs. Anyone remember the deja vu performance against the Yanks in the World Series. PLEASE don't bring Kim back.
  11. Damn, that was supposed to look like rain.
  12. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
  13. Anyone else think the Bambino is blowing the balls foul?
  14. We're winning this one after an early game brawl. Hernandez is bound to lose one before the season ends and it will be tonight!!! Arroyo is known for hitting a lot of batters, and although it will probably be semi- intentional, but mostly unintentional when he pegs one of the Yanks tonite (hopefully sheffield) a brawl will ensue. I'll take David Ortiz in the Bronx anyday, and I'm excited to see how Cabrera and the other new additions will acclimate to sports' best rivalry. Unfortunately we won't have another walk- off homer from Mueller, but I think Youk will do fine. IF Nixon plays I expect some magic. And hopefully Tek gets to go round 2 with A- Rod.
  15. The only one of those I'd give you is El Duque over Lowe. Lieber over Wake? Sure Wake isn't my favorite of pitchers, but Lieber is well past a prime that was never that good anyway. And if I recall the Yanks haven't been too successful vs. Arroyo.
  16. Schilling's getting #20 tonight. Cabrera is going 3-for-4 with two doubles (don't ask). And for the first time in the last three games the Sox will beat a crap team by more than 2 runs.
  17. Playing down seems to be a habit for the Sox, but they almost always play up to their opponents as well. So when the Sox make the playoffs (knock on wood) they'll play up to whoever dares to play them. SEE YA LATER YANKEES DYNASTY!
  18. Actually, you should hope number two doesn't happen because then you run the risk of not facing Lowe or Arroyo, and facing Schilling or Pedro instead.
  19. Although I don't like her so much in the Pippi Lonstocking look, still hot. What's better than a hot girl, who loves the Sox and has a great glove?
  20. First off, I don't think Schilling is afraid of a franchise he blew out of the water to win a ring. Secondly, there really is no need to mess around with the rotation. Why risk hurting Schill on four days rest when you still have a solid Wild Card lead. If we were trailing in the WC and teh division I could see reoerdering the rotation. But as long as we have one playoff spot in our back pocket, there is no need for putting too much effort into catching the Yanks that it might hurt us when it really matters, i.e. October.
  21. I'll give some props to Tito. Maybe it's because of Roberts and Cabrera, but he seems to be playing some small ball, which is a good reason why we've been successful. He's doing a better job with the pitchers, and the addition of Williamson will only help. I think he made a smart move in resting Embree for a while and his faith in Timlin seems to be paying off. I still think he should play Mientkiewicz more and Millar less, but whatever. However, let's not give all the credit to Tito. When the Sox lineup is at full torque like it is right now, managing has little to do with the victories. I hope Francona does make a big mistake by pulling Arroyo from the rotation in October, but we'll see. Nevertheless, if Tito can bring us a WS Championship, I will forgive him all his transgressions.
  22. Hell no. Nixon is the heart and soul of the team. I've never seen any player wear the Red and White and give more effort than Nixon. I like the players we have right now. Keep Kapler and Nixon, and sure Roberts. Use Kapler against lefties and maybe sometimes in other games, like say to give Manny a rest so we don't need to use Millar. Then use Nixon against righties. Why not have them both? If you want to get rid of an outfielder, drop Damon (I hate to say it). I would rather not trade Damon, but Kapler has speed and a much stronger arm, and could handle being a leadoff hitter. I'd like to keep the outfield as is, but DON"T TRADE NIXON!!!
  23. June? Cubs and Sox this October. The battle of the curses will take place this year. Last year we both got screwed, and this year we will both get our way. It will end with Nomar's error in the bottom of the ninth at Fenway. GO SOX!!!
  24. I've also heard rumors Damon may play tonite, so the DL thing seems to be false. Either way though, I think Damon should sit tonite (game 2 Oakland). The A's have a lefty on the hill and though Damon's not bad against southpaws, and Roberts is a lefty himself, resting him tonight would be a good idea. If his finger is still a little tender come the Seattle series, I see no reason to sit him then either. Since Seattle shouldn't be too tough, giving Damon more healing time wouldn't be a bad idea. After all, we don't need anymore guys on the DL this year.
