  1. Well Ortiz called out the pitching staff to help the batters, now it's the batters' turn. Let's go guys, get some runs.
  2. How the f*** do we continue to screw up on the bases. Maybe they should spend more time in spring training doing baserunning drills because this is getting ridiculous. I've seen Little League teams make less baserunning mistakes.
  3. Ortiz = The Best Clutch Hitter In Sox History, The Man, Big Papi, Mvp, Best Pickup In Mlb History, The Man The Man The Man The Man
  4. This would be my ideal ending. Each team splits their 4 games series. The Sox win game 1 of the final series, putting them up a game. The Yanks win game two, tying it up again, and then it all comes down to that last Sunday at Fenway. Bottom of the ninth, 1 out, Damon on 2nd, Sox down 4-3, Ortiz at the plate, CRACK into the bullpen, another walk- off for Ortiz, Sox go to the playoffs, Yanks go home.
  5. To some degree I feel bad for the guy, but honestly, you're a professional athlete. Reporters are going to hound you, win or lose. And especially in a big market. Are these pros really so naive they don't think that's the atmosphere here? Every year somebody makes the pages complaining about how bad the media here can be sometimes. You know it's coming before you get here. So deal with it or don't come.
  6. Curt's done. I hope he retires. He'll forever have a place in my heart for his '04 performance. However, for him to drag on and hurt the Sox now isn't fair.
  7. Yeah 12 RBIs with a .354 BA at the top of the order is really impressive. You get the same production out of Mueller and he's not getting 10 mil a year. Mueller's got a +.300 BA and a chance at a Gold Glove and is getting either underpaid or deserved pay. Renteria is producing worse than Mueller and getting overpaid. Not worth it.
  8. First off, I'm willing to bet Nomar prolonged his stints on the DL. He fouled a ball of his foot, Kapler ruptured his Achilles. Second, I think Kap will be back next year, and with a vengeance. From his stint in Japan to this 'bad luck' injury Kapler has just not been having a good year. Come 2006 his fortunes will change and I think he'll contribute next year like he did last year. Here's to a quick recovery Gabe.
  9. Give a standing O to Payton? I'd rather throw stuff at him. He's here for two months, and unlike Cabrera did not make enough of a positive impact worthy of applause. He cried about his playing time, maybe somewhat justified, and forced the Sox to trade him. Think we could use him now with Damon and Kapler hurting? He deserves to be booed, I will never applaud that guy.
  10. Yeah, one good month riverside. ONE. Almost every player in the majors has at least one good month. When he puts together a few good month, or a .300 BA or comes up big in the playoffs then maybe I'll warm up to him a little.
  11. Try not to take this the wrong way, but I'm not sold on Mueller. First I don't think he's that great of a fielder. I'm not saying he's bad, but overall I'd say he's just average. Youk is a better fielder in my opinion. Second, I don't know about all these CLUTCH hits. I'll give him credit that he gets on base a lot and usually ends up getting driven in by some part of the top of the order, but he himself rarely gets clutch hits, and most of his hits are singles anyway, meaning it usually takes a deep hit or two hits to drive him in. However, before you all rip me apart which I know you're gonna, if it could be arranged that he and Youkilis could both play (the 1st and 3rd set- up) I'd be happy with that. Certainly a .300 batter in the 8 or 9 spot is rare, but if it's either him or Youk, I'd put my stock in Youk both for the future and the now.
  12. I don't think the cop deserves to be charged. First if he isn't authorized to use the gun, it never should've been issued to him. And as said, in a crowd of 10,000 or so people, it's got to be a little scary. And again, the bullets were meant to be just to keep crowds under control. It's unfortunate such a thing had to happen, and God rest the soul of Victoria Snellgrove, but the cop doesn't deserved to be punished. Plus, the guilt he has is probably torturing him as is. And honestly, if anyone is to blame it's the stupid fans who got drunk and rioted and climbed the back of the building. Those are the ones really responsible.
  13. What'd I tell you about Rent? I don't think Youk should count given his limited time. Nixon has been quiet, but has a couple big hits. But of course, the key, as always, is Ortiz who again is coming up in the clutch. I say we dub him 'Mr. Last Third of the Game.'
  14. If Millar's playing too shallow it's Tito's fault. The manager is the guy who sets up the infield and outfield. And might I add, I think Tito is terrible at it.
  15. No really great throw Rent, glad we pay you 10 million a year for that s***. Platinum glove with an aluminum arm thanks buddy.
  16. Well, Tek has gotten props as an MVP candidate, and to some degree I agree a DH should get less consideration.
  17. Patient like Renteria just was?
  18. Well maybe if Renteria could hit a baseball. Anyone else notice he's playing like Millar did last year, one good month and that's it. Granted at least his defense has improved, but his bat has been quiet.
  19. It really never does cease to amaze that Ortiz keeps doing this. Just out of curiousity, and I'm sure Ortiz isn't really that close, but what is the record for most walk- off HRs, career or season? Or even the most GW hits, which Ortiz also has many of. I say name an award after the guy, if not an MLB award, then a team award (when he retires of course) for most GW hits or GW HRs every year.
  20. Hey, did we have Mark Belhorn playing short today?
  21. We've been thru this he SUCKS
  22. First, let's not compare a pitching rotation to military tactics. Secondly, look at our hated rivals for proof. Yeah, they've added some faces and what not since the start of the season, but they kept optimistic and it has paid off. They didn't bail on Johnson or Wright, and now they're pitching much better and the Yanks are back in it. It's too late to really change our pitchers, so we just have to be optimistic that they'll get their acts together with time to spare.
  23. Honestly at this point we just gotta be patient. The pitching will come around it's just a matter of when and then the question is will the bats still be there.
  24. I'd like to thank Belhorn for the good memories and I wish him the best of luck. Aside from his poor season this year, it is hard to hate this guy and I'm glad he was part of our championship team.
