  1. I have been attacked and accused of being the most negative fan in the world. so I will say that he gets some clutch hits, and clearly is (although apparently painfully quiet) a fearless, gritty competitor who is the consummate team guy...(if it wasnt for those friggn rally deflating K's) ..oops. I mean a tireless worker, and someone who I will alway remember for the contributions he made in last years championship season!!!..
  2. does anyone know what ultimately happened to dave after he was designated for assigment...I realize he had to clear waivers and then whatever..but I never heard or was able to find out what happend once the wheels of his demise were set in motion? anyone know?
  3. we're talking about mark bellhorn, right?
  4. I gotta say conjecture of this kind is a good problem to have,...I would prefer this to the yankee situation... It's also been weird on top of that that manny is hitting 250+, and DO is hitting 260+ an our infield has 2 home runs, millar has none, and we win..and you put it altogether and we have looked good for the most part since the seaons started even great occassionally. Together with those pitiching injuries I for one am mighty proud of this year's team..It has been weird though-to be sure. I think it migth come down to as someone said none of them ever being 100% at the same time. I hadnt heard that schilling would be out so long--why did they put him on the 15 then???
  5. It is an attempt at humor... pretty high brow I know, but just laugh and smile....they like to think this kind of stuff is funny.
  6. blessed are the peacemakers.... foulke doesnt suck, though, I hope he continues as wells he has lately..
  7. shut the hell up? what are you in charge..I dont like the guy, that's no reason to insult me, I think he stinks I always have and always will... If we were up by 20 game I'd be thrilled, but I dont thave to explain myself to a pissant like you. last time I looked red sox nation was free state, unlike morons from Texas members of a free state are entilted to opinions--and unlike the state of the nation where the idiots in the white house, somehow have created a situation where if yoiu criticiize you're unpatriotic, that shouldnt be the case here..you have your opinion and I have mine..we're all redsox fans, and just because I dont like al that doesnt make me any less knowledgable , or any worse or better fan than you. PS: when poeple like you post it is defintely a).
  8. f*** you tex..mind your own business if you dont like what i say,... I hate one f***ing guy alan embree.. and you.
  9. I have never been accused of being subtle.. anyone but bronson..I would be very surprised to see him out of the rotation anytime soon, I like your idea about wells... I would have said wake but he is also pitching really well..
  10. massive??? hardly, but what the hell-- stevie wonder could hit more home runs than millar.
  11. I cant concieve of them putting God in the bullpen..No one should have to sit near alan embree..I wouldnt want our ace cavorting with pond scum like embree--his mildew migtht rub off on bronson, and that would be a crime..
  12. you have simply got to be talkiong about some other alan embree..the piece of s*** I see is th e guy you wan twith the bases loaded, if for some reaosn you want the starte rcharged with another 3 quick runs when al gives up a grand slam Let's review "mr. underappreciated's" work so far... face it he sucks!!!! foulke will turn it aorund and is...bronson is a god..embree is f***ing piece of whale s***... April 3rd, Yankee Stadium Alan Embree comes into the 6th inning with a run in and Alex Rodriguez on second. He promptly gives up a double to Ruben Sierra, scoring a run. He retired Hideki Matsui and Jason Giambi (while walking Jorge Posada in between) to get out of the inning. The run he gave up made a 5-1 game a 6-1 game, so his failure went largely un-noticed, especially considering the run he allowed was charged to Blaine Neal. His task in this game was to keep the deficit at 4 runs by recording 2 outs without allowing Rodriguez to score. SAP: 0-1 (.000) April 5th, Yankee Stadium Embree enters a tie game with runners on first (Matsui) and second (Rodriguez). He gets Posada to fly out, and strikes out Jason Giambi. Alex Rodriguez went to third on Posada's fly out, but no runs scored in the inning. SAP: 1-2 (.500) April 6th, Yankee Stadium With Jason Giambi on first base in the bottom of the seventh inning with the score tied 2-2, Alan Embree enters the game. He got Tino Martinez to fly out to end the threat. After retiring Bernie Williams to start the 8th inning, he walked Tony Womack and was removed for a reliever. Womack would later score the go ahead run. His task had been to keep the game tied, and since the lead runner was not surrendered while he was on the mound, he gets credit for doing his job. SAP: 2-3 (.667) April 8th, Rogers Centre Relieving Bronson Arroyo in the bottom of the 7th and inheriting a 6-2 lead, Embree wasted very little time giving up a homerun to Eric Hinske (he actually retired Shea Hillenbrand first). He didn't exactly settle down after the homerun, allowing Alex Rios to single after retiring Greg Zaun. Finally, he got Menechino out to end the threat. Since he was able to keep the lead intact, he was successful in this outing. SAP: 3-4 (.750) April 10th, Rogers Centre Alan Embree has a perfect inning with his team down 3-1, retiring Orlando Hudson, Vernon Wells, and Corie Koskie. SAP: 4-5 (.800) April 14th, Fenway Park Embree enters a tie game with Gary Sheffield on first and two out in the top of the 6th. He gets Hideki Matsui to fly out. He also pitches a perfect 8th inning, retiring Rodriguez, Posada, and Giambi. SAP: 5-6 (.833) April 16th, Fenway Park Given a 5-run lead, Embree pitches a shutout inning against the Devil Rays, giving up one hit (to Aubrey Huff) but retiring Alex Sanchez, Josh Phelps and Travis Lee. SAP: 6-7 (.857) April 17th, Fenway Park Entering in the seventh inning with a 3 run lead, Embree gets 4 consecutive outs, 3 of which on strikeouts (Crawford, Sanchez, Huff) and got Julio Lugo to ground out. SAP: 7-8 (.875) April 19th, Fenway Park After Bronson Arroyo outdueled Roy Halladay for 7 innings, the bullpen door swings open and out comes "Everyday Alan Embree." After a Corie Koskie single and a game tying 2 run homer by Vernon Wells, Embree allowed a single to Eric Hinske. Luckily, he got Alex Rios to hit into a double play and got Orlando Hudson to pop up, but the damage had been done. SAP: 7-9 (.777) April 22nd, Tropicana Field. The Red Sox battle back from a 4-1 deficit to tie the Devil Rays 4-4 in the top of the ninth. In the bottom of the ninth, Embree is brought in to keep the game tied and give the Red Sox offense a shot at further heroics. Tampa Bay's first batter, Eduardo Perez, hits a homerun to left field. Game over. SAP: 7-10 (.700) April 25th, Fenway Park With Boston trailing by 4 runs and Javy Lopez on second base with 2 outs, Embree is brought into the 7th inning to stop the bleeding. He strikes out BJ Surhoff to end the inning. After walking Luis Matos to start the 8th, he struck out Rafael Palmiero, Geronimo Gil, and Brian Roberts. Unfortunately for Embree, Matos stole second and third, and scored on a Jason Varitek throwing error. The run scored, but Embree did his job. SAP: 8-11 (.727) April 26th, Fenway Park Alan Embree enters the game with an 8-5 lead after 2 runs had already scored in the inning and with 2 runners on base. The first batter, Larry Bigbie, doubles to left field, scoring both runners and tightening the score to 8-7. He followed that by getting Brian Roberts out to end the inning. This is the hardest success/failure decision to make, because he allowed 2 runs to score but ultimately was not the pitcher who allowed the lead to slip away. Considering that he allowed 2 runs to score in a game the Red Sox eventually lost, I can't with good conscience consider this outing a "Success." SAP: 8-12 (.667) May 1st, Ameriquest Field (Arlington, Texas) Embree enters the game with a 6-3 lead and gets 4 consecutive outs: Teixeira, Blalock, Soriano, and Nix before being relieved by Mike Timlin. The very definition of success. SAP: 9-12 (.750) May 2nd, Comerica Park With the Red Sox trailing by only 2 runs in the 8th inning, Alan Embree was given the task of keeping the deficit at 2 runs. His response? Allowing 3 runs while only recording two outs. He got Craig Monroe to ground out and Marcus Thames to foul out, but a homerun by Carlos Pena, doubles by Infante and Logan followed by Inge's single put this game out of reach for the Red Sox. SAP: 9-13 (.692)
  13. I dont boo bellhorn anymore, either, though I cant stand him. I am ready to boo millar, but am trying to be patient.. I have always hated embree and I think he is so f***ing bad, he is beyond even booing...he couldnt get anyone in little league... Every time he comes in I break out in a rash... f*** him.... I hate to see mccarty go, I like him, and i gather he's a real class act...
  14. I take it back alan embree is worse than Kim.. I hate embree he just plain sucks I dont know why they bring him in. f*** he has blown more games than anyone...
  15. whoever said, doesnt millar look more comfortable at first i have to agree with...His fielding is certainly capable but when he is he going to start hitting a few dingers.. I love McCarty but can see the reason for the move... Like someone else said though, this is nothing, we need pitching.. like a new closer and someone to replace embree who sucks...and a starter or two..
  16. another s***** outing...for foulke. I am officially worried.
  17. hey you're right I forgot about kim...embree just sucks then, and timlin was and is the man.. maybe al has 4.45 ish era but if you count the runs that he is let in that get charged to others his ERA would be astronomical... all I know is that I break out in a rash, when embree comes. Hey, I went to the game in tampa against the devil rays on sunday. Wow, Ortiz's home run went off the catwalk out in right field, unf***ing believable.
  18. How can any one say embre has been lights out. He sucks ...plain and simple. I think he is the worst f***ing pitcher I have ever seen. Man, he sucks. Unfortunately for the starters, when embree comes in he lets all the runners score and those runs get charged ot the starter. How amany times has that happened..Oh, last night for example, comiong off his one pitch wonder in Tampa, that ball is still flying. I think you guys are un believably forgiving. Foulke looks like s***. He hasnt had an over powering outing since the season began. When do you start to worry before- its too late.
  19. foulke maybe just a bit off, but I'm not worried. the person who really is a problem, though, is that piece of s*** embree.
  20. yeah, they showed him that while getting 19 runs against a AA team, that their highly touted pitching still gives up 8 runs to the devil rays. The message they sent is that the yankees are in deep s*** and I am loving it. PS-19-8 that score sounds familiar any yankee fans rememer what happened the last you put up that score????
  21. okay, i was wrong...he'll be ready like, um,now. Monday, April 18, 2005 How hot are they? A perfect 10 By JOHN NALBONE, Special to Portland Press Herald TRENTON, N.J. — Go ahead and give them the Eastern League championship trophy right now. Seriously. Have someone from the league office, conveniently located in Portland, make the mile walk to Hadlock Field and put the hardware in the Sea Dogs' trophy case. Unless this team is inexplicably dismantled, there does not appear to be a worthy opponent in the league. Shortstop Hanley Ramirez, the pride of the Boston Red Sox farm system and rated the No. 10 prospect in the minors by Baseball America, showed a paid crowd of 6,522 at Waterfront Park why he is so highly regarded. Ramirez keyed a five-run sixth inning with a two-run triple to power the Sea Dogs to an 11-6 victory for a four-game sweep and their 10th consecutive win to begin the season. Ramirez (8 for 18) and first baseman Jeremy West (9 for 17) hit a combined .486 in the four games and reached base in 19 of their 37 plate appearances. Ramirez drove in seven runs and scored five as Portland recorded its first four-game sweep of the Thunder (3-8) since April 2000. "We are just having fun playing the game every day," Ramirez said. "I was on a hot team last year at (Class A) Sarasota, but nothing like this. Everybody wants the ball, everyone wants to hit the ball and everyone wants to make every play." The Sea Dogs are off to their best start in franchise history just three years after the parent Red Sox pulled up stakes after an eight-year player development partnership with the Thunder from 1995-2002. How dominating was Portland in this series? Consider that the Sea Dogs were retired in order only four times after the first inning of the opener on Thursday, the night all eight of Portland's runs were scored with two outs and two strikes on the hitter. The Sea Dogs' bullpen allowed only six runs all weekend while Thunder relievers let in 17 - half their season total. "They are a very disciplined team that is playing really well right now," Thunder right-hander Steven White said after falling to 0-3 with an 8.02 ERA after his first three Double-A starts. "You just can't make any mistakes and expect to get away with them." And to think Sunday was supposed to be the Thunder's best shot at knocking off the only remaining undefeated team in professional baseball, with knuckleballer Charlie Zink working for Portland. Zink (2-0) went a combined 1-10 with a 5.75 ERA last season and never even surpassed 65 mph on the radar gun Sunday. Winless in seven of their last eight, the Thunder even hit three home runs and received a big game from left fielder Kevin Thompson, who went 4 for 5 with one of those homers. Portland was just too good. From bloopers to long-distance shots to broken-bat flares that barely made it into the outfield, every ball seemed to find a cozy home somewhere. "We ran into a hot team that just could not do anything wrong," Thunder Manager Bill Masse said. "Any fly ball that could have fell in for a hit, they caught. Every ground ball that could have gone through for a hit, they caught. They hit with runners on base and made all the big pitches when they had to. It's a lot of fun to play like that. "We took our lumps this weekend but that's OK. We'll see these guys again." Twelve more times to be exact. By then, the Sea Dogs should be in a league of their own. If they aren't already. "We're just feeding off each other," Portland second baseman Dustin Pedroia said. "We're just playing the game hard and everything is going our way."
  22. I guess I was watching some other game. He bitch slapped the guy completed the play then that security popped in, and then the bullpen... Restraint? He got right in the fans' face, then people got between them. The restraint angle is spin, like WMD's its made up. I realize this much to do about nothing , but sheff is an *******. I gotta say that fan didnt back down when sheffy got in his face. granted you shouldnt interefere witht he game but I think this nothing.
  23. 6 2/3 3 runs 1 ER 5 K's 2 BB
  24. by the way who gets taken off the roster to make room for schilling, I hope it's neal.
  25. I agree he is just such a classy guy and truly a red sox. The players love him and so do the fans. They defintiely should retire his number, unfortunately they'll wait until he passes on, but they should do it for him now. Yaz looked so happy and proud too--but pesky has been close to the team forever and deserves every honor they can give him.
