Damon is probably going, he was quoted after the Game 3 loss, that he wanted a 5 year deal, no way in hell is he getting that here.
Ramirez could join him, I think the Mets like the taste of winning, and they might offer a good enough package for him.
Our lineup could look like this.
C: Vartiek
1B: Petagine/Konerko/Youkilis
2B: Pedoria/Cora/Graffinanio
SS: Renteria
3B: Mueller/Youkillis
LF: Ramriez/Giles
CF: Giles/Damon/Baldelli?
RF: Nixon
DH: Ortiz
Petagine probably could do a servicable job at first, for only 300 K. He'd probably hit about .275 with 20 HR's, and a nice OBP. That may not sound attractive, but hey it's better than Millar.
Pedoria doesn't seem ready yet, but if he has a good spring training, he'll probably be penciled in at 2nd. If he doesn't, why not give the job to Cora, he's a superb defender, who hits about .250. He can hold down the postion for a few months until Pedoria is ready to step in at 2nd.
Youkilis is long overdue for the 3rd base job.
If Ramirez goes, than I guess we'd have enough money to sign Brian Giles to come in and play LF. He gets on base a ton, and has some pop in his bat. Remember his days in Pittsburgh? He had an OPS over 1.000 each year.
Rocco Baldelli would be a great player to add. He might be worth a swap of Anibal Sanchez for the young CF.
Pitching
1. Schilling
2. Wells?
3. Clement
4. Wakefield
5. Papelbon/Arroyo
Bullpen
CL: Foulke
SU: Timlin
MR: Arroyo
MR: Hansen
MR: Delcarmen
LR: Dinardo
LH: Myers
Schilling should be back to form, maybe not completely, but a 3.50 ERA is something RSN could expect.
Wells could retire, he probably won't, but he'll have close to similar year as he did in 2005.
Papelbon will explode next year, he'll probably be the best pitcher on our staff.
Arroyo needs to be traded, or sent to the bullpen as a ROOGY.
Speaking of bullpens, ours could be pretty good next year. Foulke, if healthy, should get back to his dominant self. Timlin probably will have an ERA around 3.00. Hansen should be domiant, when he regains his slider. Delcarmen looked pretty good in his limited time up with the club. Dinardo earned a spot with his sub 2.00 ERA, and Arroyo held righties to a low average last year.
