  1. France can stay the hell out. No country sucks more than New Saudi Arabia. England actually had one player pitching for them. I think his name was Lance Painter.
  2. Hopefully not. I do not, under any circumstance, want to throw a lemon party.
  3. The point wasn't to sell tickets here in the United States. They have that market established. The main point is to sell tickets in Italy, in Japan, even in South Africa. Baseball is trying to become global, and this is good idea to establish that.
  4. Just stop posting stuff about Edmonds, please. This trade will never happen. If it does, I will throw a lemon party.
  5. I'm psyched to watch South Africa play baseball. (When the hell did South Africa learn baseball was invented?)
  6. I heard that the Cardinals were shopping Albert Pujols for Matt Clement.
  7. No, that's a terrible deal for the Brewers. If the Brewers are giving up Hall, then they'd probably want Lester or Papelbon. What makes you think the Brewers would trade a young 3B, who probably could pop 25 HR's someday, AND a flamethrowing prospect for an overpaid pitcher, and a guy who's a utility player at best?
  8. Not sold on Moss. He didn't do anything fantastic in AA ball to show that he belongs as a starting left fielder. He's young, but right now he's just a fourth outfielder. I'm more sold on Murphy who has a terrific glove, and hit about the same clip as Moss did. If Murphy can swat 20 HR's this year, then he should be our starting RF when Nixon leaves.
  9. Give props to the Front Office for getting Tavarez to a two year deal. This guy wanted at least four when negotiating with the Mets and Yankees.
  10. Hey dipshit, does my username say KeeptheFaith or Crespo? Anyways, I believe he was comparing Schilling THIS year, to Johnson this year. Oh, and that looks like a ? mark.
  11. No one said that. Don't even try to pull that ********. What we said is that you'll never see the domiant Randy Johnson again. It's more than likely he'll regress to a 4.00 ERA. He can't stay healthy all year with his knee, age, and back.
  12. Holy s***. I think I saw delusion all over that post. Randy Johnson's ERA jumped a whole run last year. His hits leaped by 30, and he even threw 30 less innings. He fanned 290 in '04, that dropped by 79 in '05. Not to mention his homeruns allowed nearly doubled. So are you really trying to convince yourself that Randy Johnson is a domiant pitcher? Top 50 Red Sox starters. Beckett, Wakefield, Arroyo, Clement, and Wells. I don't know the exact numbers, but they are in that order.
  13. Usually when pitchers have no cartiledge in their knees and have shown a substansial drop off in velocity and movement, you can GUARANTEE a drop off next year. Beckett has tremendous stuff, poise, and just the mental ability to flat out kick ass. Not to mention the fact that he is only 25 years old. Beckett's only getting better, Johnson is getting worse. (According to Sports Weekly, the Yankees have one starting pitcher in the top fifty (Randy Johnson), the Red Sox have five, and that's not including Papelbon or Schilling)
  14. Wilson is terrible behind the plate, if Torre, Tracy, or whoever the hell manages him next year pencils him in there, they should be shot. He can hit, but where would he play for the Yankees? Better question, who would the Yankees give up? The Pirates would want at least Eric Duncan in return. If the Yankees don't offer him, why would the Pirates trade someone who can hit 25 HR's? Getting back on topic, plain and simple this is a horrendous trade for the Blue Jays. Glaus is more likely to get hurt then to play a full season for the Blue Jays. If you examine both players' WARP numbers last year, (Measure's offense and defense) Hudson slightly edged Glaus (5.2 to 5.0). Hudson will turn Brandon Webb into a potential Cy Young winner. He could have done that with Burnett. Unless Aaron Hill whacks 20 HR's, and plays at least average defense, then the D-Backs win on this deal.
  15. It's really a toss up. Soto's swing is so perfect, that the Red Sox have ordered no one to tamper with it. He should signs of a breakout this year, and was invited to the Single A homerun derby.
  16. I don't. Beckett > Johnson Schilling > Mussina Wells > Wang Papelbon > Wright Clement > Pavano Arroyo > Chacon
  17. Won't happen, the Padres traded for Mike Cameron because he would shore up the outfield defense in spacious PETCO Park. What the Red Sox should do is try to trade David Wells for Roberts, and Tim Stauffer. If the Padres demand salary, then the Red Sox should send some cash going the Padres way. Irregardless, it's doubtful this trade happens. More than likely, Wells is flipped to the Dodgers for some package of prospects would probably would be used in a deal for Gathright. (Screw Lugo, the Red Sox need to deal for Tejada.) If they can land Tejada in a four way deal, with Gathright coming our way, the Red Sox should then sign Preston Wilson to play LF. The team would then look like this: C: Vartiek 1B: Youkilis/Snow 2B: Loretta SS: Tejada 3B: Lowell LF: Wilson CF: Gathright RF: Nixon DH: Ortiz 1. Youkilis 3B (OBP numbers, plus he sees a lot of pitches) 2. Loretta 2B 3. Tejada SS 4. Ortiz DH 5. Vartiek C 6. Nixon RF 7. Wilson LF 8. Lowell 3B 9. Gathright CF (until his OBP rises he doesn't warrant the leadoff spot).
  18. That doesn't mean they have players who are talented enough to compete at the highest level. That's usually the main objective for any big league club. Before the last couple of drafts, Steinbrenner ordered his team to draft players who could help out at Staten Island, forget New York. They may compete for titles at the minor league level, but that doesn't indicate that the players could play at the high level. The Yankees have a thin farm system, extremely thin. There is without a doubt that the Yankee farm system is in the bottom five. You put that list of prospects a few post ago, but only Cano was legit, and he can't be considered a prospect anymore, he's exhausted his rookie status.
  19. IT IS!!!!! Ask any baseball expert and they will give you the same answer. Holy s***, who the hell is filling your heads with these ideas? Kevin Reese will develop into a starter?!! That's as likely as Soxfan getting laid.
  20. Cano will be a good player, that I'll give you. Wang is horribly overrated, he simply strikes out too few players to be a good AL pitcher. At best, Wang will be a four or five starter, throw in the fact that he allows too much contact behind a porous Yankee defense will hurt him even more. C'mon, please don't even list Colter Bean or Jason Anderson as prospects. The Yankees thought so badly of Anderson that they traded him for Armando Benitez. If you think this guy is a prospect, then you certainly don't know what a prospect is. Colter Bean will be 29 when the season starts, so he's out. Matt Smith is 26 years old already, it also hurts the fact that he started the season as a 26 year old in Trenton. Smith has bad perphial statistics he walks too many players, and allows way too many hits. It's doutbful he'll ever help the Yankees. Sean Henn? Apparently you didn't watch him struggle to get the ball over the plate against the D-Rays. Melky Caberra? His psyche is so damaged that he had to be sent down to AA ball after his cameo with the Yanks. He's worse defensively in CF than Bernie Williams is, his future is a COF, but he doesn't hit enough to justify a spot out there. Andy Phillips? This guy isn't a prospect, he's not even close. Why the hell do you list these journeymen 29 year olds as prospects? I demand a response to this question. Eric Duncan could be OK, but he needs to cut down on the strikeouts, and play some defense. Right now he's a DH, and the Yankees don't need anymore of those. Bronson Sardhina, strikes out way too much. Plus he's still only in A ball, we need to see more of him T.J. Beam is 24 years old, and hasn't reached AA ball. He needs a good year or he can't be considered a prospect anymore. Plus he's a relief pitcher, why do you have so many old relief pitchers as prospects. You forgot J. Brent Cox, who could be good, but he'll more likely get hurt with his violent delievery
  21. The Dodgers would probably send us Jonathon Broxton (P), Willy Aybar (IF), or Edwin Jackson (P).
  22. No way, no way in hell does Gipson ever do anything of value for any big league club. There's a better chance of seeing Soxfan without a dick in his mouth, then Gibson playing center for the Red Sox.
  23. Theo couldn't have prevented this. In fact, his two flawed signing may have put us in this hole. Renteria was never going to do anything in Boston. He couldn't take the pressure of being scrutinized, also he looked slow and terrible in the field, it's better of they traded him. They actually scored a coup in landed Andy Marte, he's probably one of the most talented players to enter our farm system. Mirabelli was a backup, that's all he was. Wakefield is wildly streaky, you can't say Mirabelli would make Wakefield an all-star. Loretta however, is one. He hit over .330 in 2004 (when he was healthy), had an OPS of .876, and hit 16 HR's at PETCO Park, he also has a gold glove caliber glove, why would you complain about this move. Damon got a overpriced contract, if the Red Sox land Jeremy Reed or Coco Crisp either of them will be better in the field then Damon would be, and in a couple of years they'll both be better overall than Damon will. While it hasn't been a great offseason, the Red Sox do have some positive things to look at. If Schilling can return to norm, and Beckett stays healthy, then the Red Sox have a pretty good 1-2-3 punch at the top of the rotation. Matt Clement, and Tim Wakefield are pretty serviceable backend starters.
  24. No, not really. They've made three post about it, and two assigned no blame to Ortiz.
  25. I'd trade David Wells to the Padres for Dave Roberts (if they include Williams then the deal is off) and let him play in center, then add Eric Byrnes to platoon against lefties.
