    He may not hit .308, but Pedroia walks much more then Loretta does, and his defense is just as capable as Loretta's. Plus, Pedroia, unlike Loretta, can actually drive the ball. Loretta seems like he can no longer drive the ball. He's also 35, how much longer can he hold this kind of production up? He may be worth $5 million in 2007, but what about in '08, and '09?

    The Red Sox didn't believe that Snyder could be their fifth starter, no one did. Snyder looked OK, but he wasn't going to be able to sustain that. The Red Sox needed to make a move, Johnson was available. Why you think you're the only one is beyond me. A little conceited, no?

    The same guys who value sabermetrics emanicapated Kevin Youkilis. Most scouts believed Youkilis was too fat, and too slow to be an everyday player. Theo Epstein and Billy Beane believed other wise. Scouts make mistakes? A closer away? They got pasted by the Orioles in that ALDS. A closer wouldn't have done s***. They ran into Mike Mussina who outpitched Randy Johnson twice. Oh, and Cruz WAS TRADED for Mike Timlin. So they did try to make a move for a closer. Did it work? Nope. Cruz went on to hit 22 HR's a year for Toronto, and 31 and 34 in 2000 and 2001. Move backfired on Seattle. Cruz would have looked better then Glellean Hill and Brian Hunter the next two years, no? I believe scouts pick prospects as well? That's where the tools come in to play. Which side are you against, scouts or sabermetrics. You seem to go back and forth.

    Sanchez was projected to be a .300 hitter with littler power, little OBP, and below average defense. So far, he's fufilled all of these projects. You can't seriously believe that Freddy Sanchez will .350 all year? He's a nice player, but he's no Ichiro.

    Players have done that before. Look at Aaron Small or Shawn Chacon. I think Sanchez is a .300 hitter, but he isn't going to hit for a lot of power, or get on base a lot. But he's a decent player.

    He keeps the ball on the ground. That's the only postive thing about him. Maybe, the Red Sox defense can shave off 20-30 hits that Cleveland's atrocious defense couldn't stop. He doesn't strike a whole lot of batters out, but he doesn't walk a whole lot either.

    Are you serious?!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1 Kapler isn't even in the same stratosphere as Pena. He's going to be our RF next year, and going to be the fourth outfielder. Harris is most likely to go.
