  1. Have you heard this one yet?: Sox get Delgado and Odalis Perez Jays get Izturis and pitching prospect(s) Dodgers get Nomar and Kim Wow, they want Nomar out bad.
  2. 1986 is burned into my skull. I'm too young for '78 or '75, thank God.
  3. f*** Nomar. f*** him for not being a teammember. f*** him for not hitting. f*** him for not fielding. f*** him for not throwing. f*** him for getting hurt. f*** him for bitching about A-Rod. f*** him for not being a professional. But most of all... Thank God he didn't take that 4 year, $60 million dollar contract.
  4. Hey, hey! Nice to see another NetSporter over here, even if he's not a true-blooded Sox fan.
  5. The Jays have already had Cesar Izturis and it has to be more than just one minor league pitcher for the Sox to get that much.
  6. Shopp went 0-3 with an RBI today. I mostly attribute the rustiness to Buddy Bailey sitting Shoppach for two straight games because of Ellis Burks and Bill Mueller rehabbing and George Lombard being called up. He's still making good contact, though and is drastically reducing the number of strikeouts over the past month or so.
  7. http://kmbumb.people.wm.edu/05agency.html Add Carl Pavano to that list and remove Kevin Millar.
  8. The D'Back's are loaded with infield prospects (Scott Hairston, Chad Tracy, Jamie D'Antona) so they would have no use for Cano or Youkilis. They could probably use Navarro, but he's grossly overrated. The D-Backs could do far better from any other team in the league. I don't think RJ is going anywhere.
  9. I hate Sheffield and I hate Boras. I hope they both lose all their money and have to sell the bodies on the streets of NYC. I'm sure Jeter and A-Rod (while on their date) would want some of Sheffield's ass.
  10. I have Perez on my fantasy team too. GODDAMNIT! I hope he's OK. Well, maybe this will lower the asking price.
  11. He was the Sally League All-Star Game's MVP. He's a good one, but he's raw still. He won't be ready until 2007-2008.
  12. http://elguaposghost.blogspot.com/2004_02_...st_archive.html Here's a fantastic article on the risk it is to re-sign Varitek. We are seeing the beginning of the decline, folks. I knew it was coming at some point this season.
  13. I'm just being irrationally frustrated again. Although, I think Varitek should have pinch-hit one spot lower as the potential tying run.
  14. Nomar Garciaparra, Jason Varitek and Kevin Millar instantly come to mind.
  15. Yep. Nomie sucks donkey balls. He doesn't even have a real name. Nomar? It's Ramon, you dyslexic bastard!
  16. Amen, brother, preach the Good Word! Nomar for Odalis Perez straight-up. We won't even request a prospect. That's where both guys are just going to sign in the off-season anyway.
  17. Wow, if Jason Varitek is re-signed to a contract extension, I am going to cry. Not only did I just read a fantastic tell-all article about Kelly Shoppach and how much he is dying to be a Red Sox FOR HIS ENTIRE CAREER, but Varitek just struckout on a pitch around his eyeballs. I hate Jason Varitek so much.
  18. Hanley might be worse than Nomar, as strange as that may sound.
  19. Nomar sucks. This is pathetic.
  20. A fantastic article about Kelly Shoppach from Baseball America's Daily Dish: It is official. I will become a fan of whatever team Kelly Shoppach plays for next season, even if it isn't the Red Sox. I hope to God Theo gives this kid every chance to be this team's starting catcher. http://www.baseballamerica.com/today/minors/2004dish.html
  21. TRADE NOMAR! TRADE NOMAR! TRADE NOMAR!!!!!!!!!!
  22. Our lefties are absolutely are going to tee off on Lieber. Trot and Ortiz are hitting homeruns tonight, guaranteed.
  23. I'm high on Shoppach and with good reason. Next season, Shoppach will already play better defense than Varitek is now. Scouts say that he has the best arm and release point they have seen in a long time from a catcher. He also works hard with the pitching staff and has good defensive capabilites. Granted, a rookie can't be expected to come in and immediately have rediculous offensive seasons. Next season, I see a .260/.350/.450/.800 with 15 or so homeruns. That is fantastic for a rookie catcher and is what Varitek is pretty much on pace for with the way he's playing. Eventually, Shoppach should hit .280/.375/.525/.900 with 25 homeruns when he enters his prime. Bringing back Varitek for the sake of bringing back Varitek just seems crazy at this point. He wants too much money and that whole "mentor" thing is overrated. Shoppach will likely receive a September call-up to work with Varitek anyway and he already spent a good deal of time with him in Spring Training this season. Next season, Mirabelli can fill in the few blanks on the defensive end and Papa Jack will be there to help with his hitting.
  24. Astacio was a very good for L.A. back in the day. He'll never be that pitcher again, but he may prove to be valuable at some point this season.
  25. Billy Beane's first move would've been to trade Jason Varitek. I love Billy Beane.
