  1. Me=stupid. I was talking to some buddies about how screwed up the rotation with all the shifts, etc. and I still thought Pedro-Schilling-Lowe-Wakefield-Arroyo was the best order to go in. That's why I was stuck on Bronson pitching. Now that you say it, I did know Pedro was pitching tomorrow and I have just made an ass out of myself.
  2. I hope so. Bronson does have his difficulties at Fenway, though... His slider has been fantastic for the past month. Hopefully, he can pitch well and get enough run support for the W. He deserves one.
  3. Shoppach had a big game in the night-cap of the PawSox's doubleheader going 3-3 with two doubles and a single. You know how everyone is waiting for him to "really start hitting"? Homeruns in back to back games and then this 3-3 performance. I think he's coming around and that OPS is only 3 points under .800 and it is definitely on its way up. Season Line: .248/.339/.458/.797; .39 (31/80) BB/K ratio; 14 2B, 12 HR, 41 RBI, 38 R
  4. Wow, your dad threw you on the ground!?!? That's RSN for ya; team first, family second. Welcome.
  5. Supposedly, his velocity is steadily climbing, but when I say steadily, I mean like maybe 1 MPH a start. I listened to one PawSox game on 790 the Score when I was in the Providence area and the guys said that Kim was continually looking over his shoulder to check the stadium radar gun.
  6. Every day that I think about the Nomar and Lowe for Penny/Pavano and Gonzalez/Choi, the more I wish it would happen. What would really be crazy is if we traded for Pavano and Tony Armas Jr. Then all the pieces of the Pedro Martinez trade would be here!
  7. From the South-Florida Sun-Sentinel: Oh my God, this is the best one yet.
  8. Just found this on the MLB.com website:
  9. Big Papi may have to miss the game as well:
  10. The Sox are scuffling. They are underacheiving to an extreme degree. They are 7.5 back in the AL East and 2.5 back for the Wild Card and show no signs of being able to gain ground on anyone. Jason Varitek looks old and his .680 road OPS ain't gonna cut it. Derek Lowe is showing how important being a competitor truly is and he is not. Nomar Garciaparra cannot even seem remotely interested in being a teammate. Pedro Martinez has an ERA a run and a half higher than last season's. Scott Williamson's favorite two letters are "D" and "L"... in that order. Kevin Millar cannot remember what an RBI looks like. Kevin Youkilis continues to get shafted behind Bill Mueller and Mark Bellhorn on the depth chart. Is it time to shed some of these guys? If the Sox are in a similar position at the trading deadline, I think they should blow this team up. The only untouchables should be Ortiz, Ramirez, Schilling, Nixon and Foulke with a borderline call on Wakefield. As it stands now, the Red Sox should absolutely be buyers in the market. They should look to improve this team in every way possible. Three weeks from now, if they continue to lose every series they are in, Theo should seriously look to 2005. With the group of players they have to trade, they could get a lot in return. With the foundation they have to build upon for 2005, they wouldn't be in as bad shape as thought. Not to mention the fantastic free agent group there will be out there and the possible trades on the horizon. What do you guys think? I am absolutely not giving up on them yet, but get back to me on July 30th and it may be very different.
  11. This is depressing.
  12. Shopp had an o'fer today; 0-4, BB, K. Season Line: .238/.332/.443/.775; .39 (31/80) BB/K ratio; 12 2B, 12 HR, 41 RBI, 37 R
  13. GODDAMNIT!!!!! We need another starting pitcher. We should deal Nomar for a starter and Lowe for some crack so Tito can get a little more fired up.
  14. Goddamnit, Lowe imploded.
  15. Psst... It's the Fourth of July...
  16. Zink had a fantastic April after spending all Spring Training with Wake. Charlie does have his digits, but he doesn't want to call him because Wake's wife just had a kid. Portland's pitching coach has no idea how to throw a knuckler, so he's clueless on how to help Charlie.
  17. I love Curt Schilling. It's no longer "Pedro and pray for rain...", it's "Schilling, Pedro and pray for rain..."
  18. Yesterday, Shopp went 1-4 with a solo HR and 2 K's. Today, he went 2-4 with a walk-off homerun in Pawtucket's 3-2 win. That's right, dingers in consecutive games. Season Line: .242/.335/.450/.785; .38 (30/79) BB/K ratio; 12 2B, 12 HR, 41 RBI, 37 R

    Wimbledon

Wow, that was the sexiest tennis match I have ever seen.
  20. Snyder is unfixable. You cannot teach the plate discipline he needs.
  21. Snyder is actually 28 years-old. We claimed him off waivers a couple of years ago from the Cleveland Guardians. Snyder does have very good power, but he has trouble on breaking balls that he can't lay off and his swing is too long. In the majors, he would strike out 250 times a year and hit under the Mendoza line, but you might get 25 homers out of him. They call players like him "AAAA" players because they are too good for AAA, but they aren't good enough for the big leagues. I wouldn't get your hopes up for Snyder.
  22. He's questionable for his start today and likely not making it, but he'll be OK for the next one.
  23. And there's even another one: Sox get Matt Clement and Sergio Mitre Cubs get Nomar
  24. No, as in Mighty Mouse.
