  1. Shopp went 1-3 with a 2B, BB and 2 K. He's taking his walks, getting XBH's and doing his typical striking out. Season Line: .229/.317/.455/.772; .35 (43/124) BB/K ratio; 21 2B, 20 HR, 60 RBI
  2. 3-4 with a 2B and BB today. He's shown fantastic plate discipline (4.0 BB/K), which means the 1.333 OPS isn't a sample size thing and he can really hit this league. It'll be a crime if he doesn't start next season in Portland and make it to Pawtucket mid-way through the year. This kid is an absolute stud.
  3. Loaiza was never good before 2003, he added a cutter in '03 and had a hot first half. If you guys remember correctly, he really began to fade in the second half, especially September. This was coming; he's a one-year wonder. Beltre, on the other hand, was rushed to the big leagues sooner than he was ready. He's always had the talent to be a big-time player. Don't forget, he's only 25. There are some damn good prospects out there that are 25, not hitting 36 homers with a .900 OPS by mid-August. I think Beltre is going to be a damn good 3B for a long time.
  4. Let me clarify a couple things here. First off, the Yankees couldn't have blocked the Sox. The Sox have a worse record and those teams get to claim him first. If claimed, a team with a better record does not get to claim him or block him; that's not how it works. Second, of course the Astros were going to pull him back, they just weren't going to give him up for free. They pulled him back to discuss a trade with the Sox. I'm not positive on that point, correct me if I'm wrong.
  5. Johan Santana, no question.
  6. 3-7 with 2 BB's in two games today. I love this kid. At absolute worst, he's Trot Nixon (which is friggin' fantastic).
  7. He really should start next season in Portland. No question.
  8. The Shoppinator went 0-4 with a K today. So much for the power surge and all that walking. Season Line: .228/.315/.454/.769; .34 (42/122) BB/K ratio; 20 2B, 20 HR, 60 RBI
  9. Shopp went 1-3 with 2 walks and no K's. He's showing much better plate discipline this month. That's eight walks in 13 games this month and four in the last three. Season Line: .231/.318/.459/.777; .35 (42/121) BB/K ratio; 20 2B, 20 HR, 60 RBI
  10. Bellhorn is on base more than Renteria and I'd rather have Renteria driving runs in instead of setting them up. There's a reason why he's batting 6th in STL with Walker in the 2 hole.
  11. Yankees or Dodgers if they let Finley go.
  12. He doesn't want out, but he's not a guarantee to be brought back.
  13. Dude, honestly, wicked annoying with the whole screenname and picture thing. As far as next year goes, Trot should be the #5 hitter. I'd do this: CF- Damon 2B- Bellhorn DH- Ortiz LF- Ramirez RF- Nixon SS- Renteria 1B- Mientkiewicz 3B- Youkilis C- Mirabelli (Shoppach after a necessary 1/2 season in Pawtucket)
  14. Moss went 2-4, hit a homerun and struck out yesterday.
  15. Please get rid of this guy. I don't want Beltre and another big contract at a surplus position.
  16. He is pretty much Alvarez Jr. Although, he was mostly a reliever in college, which means he won't have much mileage on his arm. Control-specialist lefty with solid stuff who should be a future #2 or #3, depending upon how well his secondary stuff develops.
  17. Yeah, ban him please. That's really annoying.
  18. Could you put Mo Rivera in a Sox uniform? I've always liked him, no matter how good he is.
  19. True, but Carlos Lee is still a damn good hitter. I've always been a fan of his.
  20. What the f***... Carlos Lee is freakin' awesome.
  21. Shopp went 1-3 with a 2B and K yesterday. Today, he went 0-2 with 2 BB's. Season Line: .230/.315/.459/.774; .33 (40/120) BB/K ratio; 19 2B, 20 HR, 60 RBI EDIT: My math is bad. I gave him 2 extra OBP points.
  22. To quote one of the smartest Sox people I have encountered, "Hanley is the next Miguel Tejada. You look at what he's done and then you have to remind yourself that he's only 20 to grasp how good he really is." It was something like that, but he's right.
  23. Yes, we kill Contreras all the time.
  24. Hey, keep up the great work with those interviews. They are by far the best source to get Sox prospect information outside of checking the stats nightly.
  25. Oh, I forgot to do that. I'm sorry, I always do that. I quoted their interview in the Shoppach thread and I hope I put it there. I also post on baseball.com and every interview I come across of their's I quote and credit. My mistake, I wasn't looking to take credit for that.
