  1. Nomie's ankle hurts again. We got Gutierrez from the Cubs for a quarter. He used to be good, but he's old and terrible now. And he just GIDP with the bases juiced as we speak.
  2. Interview by the Royal Rooters: This kid is the man. He's our next ace. With that kind of heat, that kind of curve and a developing change. Wow.
  3. I know I said on June 17th that Manny could be/should be a #2 or #3, but the more I think about it, he really could become a ace. Now that he is performing again in the FSL, I really like his upside. I honestly do believe that he could be the next ace of this franchise.
  4. There is no way the Sox lose this game. Arroyo is money on the road and despite the fact that this team cannot hit outside of Fenway, all they need to do is give him 3 runs and the game is ours. I think Bronson is going to go a minimum of 7 innings tonight, probably more.

  6. Well, Borkowski is no prospect, nor does he have any real upside. The Sox just can't hit on the road and with Ortiz and Manny struggling, there was no road offense. f*** this team.
  7. Shopp pinch-hit for Bailey yesterday and, guess what, struck out. Season Line: .224/.307/.422/.729; .33 (33/101) BB/K ratio; 16 2B, 14 HR, 48 RBI
  8. With Tek's hand hurting, they wanted a third catcher just in case.
  9. Gammons usually has some good insight, but he was way off here. I was at the game (with pictures on the Internet to prove it) and he wasn't throwing any sinkers. What Gammons has going for him are insider connections. He knows who to talk to to get info. Other than that, I don't think he's all that great. Plus, on BBTN or WEEI, he does a lot of stammering... and then he'll just give up on what he saying and try to start a new sentence.
  10. Here's what Gammons said in this latest article: http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/gammons/story?id=1847512 Here's what he Boston Globe reported as official word from the Sox: http://www.boston.com/sports/baseball/reds...ck_on_deck?pg=2
  11. Shopp hit an RBI single and K'd twice in 4 AB's. Season Line: .225/.308/.423/.731; .33 (33/100) BB/K ratio; 16 2B, 14 HR, 48 RBI, 43 R No further comment today, expect for this: I listened to Shopp's 1st AB on the radio and he struck out on a curveball that bounced in the dirt in front of homeplate. This is very, very bad.
  12. August 12th, I believe. Roneberg isn't going to go to the team workouts prior to the games because he's already in mid-season form.
  13. You are 100% correct. Shopp needs more time.
  14. Noah, you're out of your f'ing mind. No chance.
  15. Looks like he may have gotten a little more than one of those "happy endings" you get at an Oriental massage parlor. Scuzzy bitches...
  16. Shopp went 0-2 with a BB and K in today's day game. This is just becoming extreme; he's the prototypical sabermetric power hitter: a walk, strikeout or homerun as the only three real results in baseball. It's just that he's not hitting enough homeruns and whiffing a bit too much. Season Line: .225/.309/.426/.735; .34 (33/98) BB/K ratio; 16 2B, 14 HR, 47 RBI, 43 R
  17. Shoppach went 1-5 with a R and 2 K's yesterday... and they are playing now and he just struck out looking on a pitch by Bruce Chen after getting ahead 3-0. He didn't swing once the entire AB. Season Line: .226/.309/.429/.738; .33 (32/97) BB/K ratio; 16 2B, 14 HR, 47 RBI, 43 R (not including today's first at-bat).
  18. There's a lot to being a scout that I don't think I have.
  19. No big deal. He's probably not a future regular and even if by chance he became one, he'd have no place on this team. He's not as good as Youkilis, so he wouldn't play 3B. He doesn't have as much power as West, so he wouldn't go to 1B or DH. Hattig really didn't have a future with us and when Adams is on, he's well worth the price.
  20. I was at the game, it was fantastic. I boo'd the s*** out of Kerry before and after he pitched. I tried to start a BALCO chant for Sheffield, but nobody knew what the hell I was talking about.
  21. http://www.soxprospects.com/transactions.htm It's usually well updated. If it's not, you could try Baseball America.com's Daily Dish or rotoworld.com for the more major transactions.
  22. Hanley still has the most upside, no question. The other three guys seem to belong at 2B, but could probably be future SS's if groomed to be. Theo loves Pedroia, as he does Shoppach, Alvarez and Murton. I think these guys are untouchable and should provide a core set of players for the Sox future as the C, 2B, LF and SP. The thing about Hanley is that he hasn't hit for much power, nor has he shown as much plate discipline as Theo would like. He may be traded once he gets a little older. I think his max upside would be around Edgar Renteria.
  23. Theo really likes him. I think he could be Mark Loretta in the future, which would make him a steal of a pick at 65th.
  24. He's got a chance. He'll get called up to Portland either today or Monday to take Hattig's roster spot or in early August once Roneberg goes to the Olympics. He needs to hit well there and have a strong showing in Spring Training, but it's not outside the realm of possibilities.
