    My personal favorite for our #23 pick would be Taylor Teagarden out of Texas. He's an outstanding defensive catcher with excellent power potential and an advanced knowledge of the strikezone. His plate discipline is actually better than Shoppach's was at that age, which is part of why Shopp was a 2nd rounder and Teagarden may not be on the board still at #23, but I remain hopeful. http://www.sports-wired.com/profiles/TE/tbc42481.asp

    Good fastball and change and excellent break on the curve, but he has yet to find consistency with any of them. He could be dominant if he could find his command.

    Any chance Delonte starts over Marcus Banks at PG? I haven't been following the C's as much this season as I have in the past.

    The Mariners are finishing last in the division again. They have a horrible pitching staff and an offense that rests on 3 players' hands. No way they see anything but the cellar for another year.

    I go to PawSox games frequently, so I've got one. I've had one since I was a little kid.

    Patrick Kerney, Keith Brooking, Warrick Dunn, Alge Crumpler and numerous others say "hi". Favre had a monster year, touchdowns wise (when you've got a receiving core like Walker, Driver and Furgueson, I can understand why), but he got picked an assload.

    I look at it this way: the Dodgers have the best potential but the most question marks. The Padres have the best ace (Jake Peavy) and best bullpen (Hoffman, Otsuka, Linebrink), but their offense and depth are not good. The Giants are getting pretty old and have a buttload of question marks themselves, but I look for Noah Lowry, Jesse Foppert and Jerome Williams to come up huge behind Schmidt and Tomko. Not only that, but they have Matt Cain, Merkin Valdez and Brad Hennessey on the way up. Even if they are old, they still have a talented defense; those 35+ year old knees in the outfield are a bit scary, though. Still, I think the Dodgers are the most talented, but I think they're all going to get hurt. Both teams have excellent young talent on the way up, though.

    Actually, it was just a poor August due to a little bit of passing back pain. He was dominant again in September and October.

    AL East- Skankees AL Central- Guardians (with the Twins taking it down to the last weekend) AL West - Angels (with the A's taking it down to the last weekend) AL Wild Card- Red Sox NL East- Braves NL Central- Cubs (assuming health) NL West- Giants (young pitching, young pitching, young pitching) NL Wild Card- Padres

    Albert Pujols and Jim Edmonds might have something to say about that (and yes, I know Scott Rolen is their #4 hitter, but he shouldn't be; damn Tony La Russa).

    If he hits the .240/.300/.350 that Mientkiewicz hit last year with similar defense, then that makes him better. He's also said to have more power and better plate discipline. Combine that with the aforementioned money and attitude consideration and you've got yourselves one hell of a deal here.

    I don't think there's any need for Spring Training game threads. Like you said, it seems like a waste of space. I am very excited to get to see some of the younger kids play, though.

    Excellent knowledge of how to pitch combined with excellent control and an outstanding changeup. The problem is that he doesn't throw hard, his curveball still needs a little work and if he's off, he can get shelled.

    A grand total of one. It was like this in '03: New York Boston Toronto Baltimore Tampa Bay In '04, Toronto dropped to the bottom and everyone below them moved up a spot.

    What I look for in the true sign of a growing and developing pitcher to have future success is K/BB. Sheets was dominant last year and, if he avoids injury, he will be for the next decade.

    Orioles are going to be sub-.500 for yet another year. I don't feel threatened at all.
