  1. noodle arm!
  2. If the Yankees can come back and win the division this year with this pitching, I'll eat crap out of my own ass.
  3. Clippard's probably injured.
  4. I'm just trying to get the rotation down. 21 Wang - W 22 Moose - L 23 Pettitte -W 24 off (skip#4) 25 Clippard - today 26 Wang 27 Moose 28 Pettitte (Clemens start) 29 4 30 Clippard 31 off Sox series: 01 Wang 02 Could be Clemens or Moose 03 Could be Moose, could be Clemens (on an extra day's rest) or Pettitte So the Yanks best shot at the series is going Wang/Moose/Pettitte. If Clemens returns it would be Wang/Clemens/Moose. So folks, I do not think the Yanks are that dumb. We probably will not see Clemens next weekend at the Fens. am I right???
  5. SI is reporting he may not be ready for the Sox series next weekend. And theoretically, if he pitches on Saturday or Sunday in Boston, he'd be pushing Pettitte out of the series. I personally would love it if he did come back next weekend just so there would be no Pettitte.
  6. Is it just me or does Drew look like he's got a hurt back? This goes back to before the wall collision. He just looks stiff in everything he does. Even on defense. He didn't look that way in spring training.
  7. I agree. The yanks won 2/3 at home against the Sox and only gained 1 game. I was only looking for 1 win this series anyway (I thought it would be the Wake game). So no biggy. On to TX and the Angels, respectively, with a 9+ game lead. I think I can sleep well tonight. That said, the Yanks should not feel that great about themselves. Wake and Schill pitched terrible. I'm not saying the Yankee offense was bad, but it's not like they hurt us real bad when the pitching was on. When Menky hits a monster HR off Schilling, it's because Schill was off, not because Doug is a bad ass hitter. Jackson says 10 games out after June 3 and he's calling it a season (or did you change that again??). I say 8 games by then and it's over.
  8. It wasn't a bad call anyway. Worst case it was a tie.
  9. If I were a basketball or Celtics fan, I'd feel like killing myself right now. But I'm a baseball fan and Tavarez OWN3D the Yanks tonight.
  10. YES. I mean, no YES! NESN BABY! Sweet!
  11. Damn. I thought that was a typo at first.

Game Info: Date: Monday, May 21st, 2007 Teams: Boston Red Sox (30-13) @ New York Yankees (19-23) First Pitch: 7:05pm EDT Venue: Yankee Stadium, Bronx, New York TV: NESN/Yeah Starting Pitchers: http://i.a.cnn.net/si/images/baseball/mlb/players/4906.jpghttp://bellsouthpwp.net/c/h/chinigor/TALKSOX/VS.GIFhttp://i.a.cnn.net/si/images/baseball/mlb/players/7502.jpg http://boston.redsox.mlb.com/mlb/images/team_logos/50x50/bos.gif#49 Tim Wakefield (4-4, 2.41) http://boston.redsox.mlb.com/mlb/images/team_logos/50x50/nyy.gif#40 Chien-Ming Wang (2-3, 4.54 ERA) Red Sox - Yankees Preview So far this season, the Red Sox-Yankees rivalry hasn't been much of a contest. New York looks to begin chipping away at Boston's impressive lead in the AL East standings when the teams open a three-game series Monday at Yankee Stadium. The Red Sox (30-13) own the best record in baseball and a 10 1/2-game lead over the Yankees (19-23) and Baltimore, who are tied for second place in the East. The margin is the largest for Boston since it held a 10 1/2-game over New York on Sept. 20, 1995. "Right now, it's still May," Boston first baseman Kevin Youkilis told his team's official Web site. "You can't just play two months. It would be great if the season ended today, and we were the first-place team." The Red Sox have dominated the Yankees so far this season, sweeping a three-game series at Fenway Park April 20-22, and taking two of three in the Bronx one week later. The Yankees are 10-9 since the last meeting, while Boston is 14-5 over that span. "It's their problem right now," Boston slugger David Ortiz told the Red Sox's official Web site. "We're playing well. We're doing our thing right now. They have to figure out what they need to do to beat us." The Red Sox have won four of five games overall, and took two of three at home against the Atlanta Braves over the weekend. Youkilis went 3-for-3 with a homer in Sunday's 6-3 win, and is batting .446 (25-for-56) during a 13-game hitting streak. The Yankees, meanwhile, beat the New York Mets 6-2 on Sunday to end a three-game losing streak and salvage one game during the weekend's Subway Series. Tyler Clippard, promoted from Triple-A after Darrell Rasner broke a finger Saturday, became the seventh rookie pitcher to start for the Yankees, but gave up just one run in six strong innings to earn the win. Derek Jeter and Jorge Posada both homered and extended their hitting streaks to 15 games, and Alex Rodriguez added his major league-leading 17th homer. "Until we can straighten ourselves out, we can't be concerned about catching someone else," manager Joe Torre said of the upcoming series. The Yankees will send Chien-Ming Wang (2-3, 4.54 ERA) to the mound in the opener. The right-hander allowed one run in seven innings of an 8-1 win over the White Sox on Wednesday, helping the Yankees earn a doubleheader split in Chicago. He bounced back nicely from his start on May 10, when he allowed seven runs and 11 hits in 6 1-3 innings of a 14-2 loss to Texas. Wang is 2-4 with a 5.05 ERA in eight career appearances, including seven starts, against the Red Sox. He has lost each of his last two starts against them, including a 7-4 home defeat on April 29, when he allowed four runs in six innings. Boston, meanwhile, moved Tim Wakefield (4-4, 2.41) back a day so he could start Monday's opener. The 40-year-old knuckleballer is coming off his worst outing of the season, as he allowed five runs and nine hits in seven innings of Tuesday's 7-2 loss to Detroit. The Red Sox have given him just eight runs of support in his last nine defeats dating to last season. Wakefield is 9-14 with a 4.61 ERA in 43 career appearances, including 26 starts, against the Yankees. He has lost his last two starts against them, including a defeat on April 28 at Yankee Stadium in which he allowed three runs in 5 1-3 innings. Wakefield has been strong on the road this season, going 3-2 with a 1.39 ERA in five starts. MOJO of the day: You decide. [youtube=mojovid]kOWqs4Gl6Kw GO SOX!

  17. Game Info: Date: Sunday, May 20th, 2007 Teams: Atlanta Braves (26-17) @ Boston Red Sox (29-13) First Pitch: 2:05pm EDT Venue: Fenway Park, Boston, Massachusetts TV: NESN Starting Pitchers: http://i.a.cnn.net/si/images/baseball/mlb/players/6245.jpghttp://bellsouthpwp.net/c/h/chinigor/TALKSOX/VS.GIFhttp://i.a.cnn.net/si/images/baseball/mlb/players/7821.jpg http://boston.redsox.mlb.com/mlb/images/team_logos/50x50/atl.gif#15 Tim Hudson (5-1, 1.77) http://boston.redsox.mlb.com/mlb/images/team_logos/50x50/bos.gif#61 Kason Gabbard (0-0, 0.00) Braves-Red Sox Preview Tim Hudson has been outstanding for the Atlanta Braves in 2007, but Sunday's matchup could be his toughest test yet. Hudson seeks an end to his troubles against Boston when the Braves and Red Sox play the deciding contest of their three-game set at Fenway Park. The veteran right-hander endured the worst year of his career in 2006, when he posted personal worsts in both losses (12) and ERA (4.86). Hudson (5-1, 1.77 ERA) has bounced back this season, though, as he ranks third in the majors in ERA and has pitched at least six innings in all nine of his starts. On Tuesday, Hudson was perfect for 4 2-3 innings and finished with one run and three hits allowed in seven innings of Atlanta's 6-2 victory at Washington. "Huddy was just completely outstanding once again," Braves manager Bobby Cox said. "He's pitched that way the entire season." However, he has rarely pitched that way against the Red Sox. Hudson is 3-7 with a 5.80 ERA in 10 career starts versus Boston, including a 1-4 record and 7.92 ERA in five outings at Fenway. Despite the fact Hudson has never pitched in Boston's division, the seven losses are his most against any opponent. He has also dropped all four of his starts to the Red Sox (29-13) since the start of 2004, while allowing 20 earned runs and walking 17 batters in 20 innings. After a Friday rainout forced a day-night doubleheader Saturday, each team won one game in lopsided fashion. In the opener, Mike Lowell had four hits -- including a grand slam -- and five RBIs to lead the Red Sox to a 13-3 victory. The Boston third baseman raised his batting average to .333, the second consecutive season he's been hitting .330 or higher as of this date, although he doesn't know the reasons for his fast starts. "If I knew, I'd use them in July, August and September," said Lowell, who is a .284 career hitter before the All-Star game but just .264 after the break. The win was the third in a row and sixth in seven games for the Red Sox, but Atlanta (26-17) recovered to take the nightcap in a 14-0 rout. Kelly Johnson had a double, triple, homer and five RBIs as the Braves amassed 17 hits -- 12 for extra bases -- to win for only the second time in their last seven games. "That was probably the weirdest doubleheader I've ever been a part of," said Johnson, who fell a single short of the cycle. "I think we got them overall. What was it, 27-13?" Boston, which still owns the best record in baseball and a 9 1/2-game lead over Baltimore in the AL East, suffered its worst shutout loss since 1990. As the Red Sox save knuckleballer Tim Wakefield for Monday's series opener against the arch-rival Yankees, left-hander Kason Gabbard is expected to be recalled from the minors in time to start Sunday's game. Gabbard, 25, made his major league debut with the Red Sox last season and went 1-3 with a 3.51 ERA in seven appearances -- four starts. He was 3-1 with a 2.75 ERA this season in eight starts for Triple-A Pawtucket.
